  • Google Privacy Policy - ID Release Scenario?

I run an advice column for a small school newspaper, and one method of asking questions is emailing an email account I set up. Generally, questions involve homework help, relational issues (I hate my lab partner, I feel like this teacher is unfair, etc), and occasionally jokes or riddles.

A few days ago, however, I received a question that essentially amounts to "How can I commit suicide without hurting people around me?" I've contacted my editor, teachers, our counselor, and the principle, and there's no real consensus on what to do. Answering the question could potentially... yah, and not answering could do the same.

One of us suggested we ask Google for the identity of the email sender. What we need to know is whether this falls under the caveats in the Google Privacy Policy for the release of personal information - according to their policy, it says that ID info can be released for legal purposes, such as the violation of a crime (in addition to fraud and ToS violation). Would suicide - or the prevention thereof - qualify for release of information?

Our school IT is contacting the police department for additional information, but I'd like to get some input that can speed up the process (Yes, we can do this, contact them now / Get a search warrant).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and may help save a life.

  • Allowances on my W-4?

I'm entering a job this summer, and I'm filling out Form W-4 and IL-W-4. I'm still a minor and, therefore, a dependent of my parents (who are claiming me as such). In the IL-W-4, it briefly mentions that dependents should/can not file for an allowance, but does not explain in full. Seeing as both forms cover the same material, but for local and state references, the issue is whether or not I should (or can) claim allowances as a single dependent.

So, this is a two part question. First, each allowance (add one for X, as it says), translates to what on my taxes? A percentage on my return, or what? Second, do/should I file for allowances, as a single dependent?

For reference, my job is seasonal and will yield a paycheck around $800 (at $8/hr).

  • Fallout New Vegas: For the Republic, PART TWO?

Well, I'm on my second playthrough of Vegas, and I've got to wondering - the quest "For the Republic" ends with "Part Two." Where's the Part One? Is it a reference to an earlier Fallout game, because I haven't caught it.
