  • Is is legal for someone to give out my email address as their own?

For the past couple of years I keep receiving emails that really meant for another. In the beginning, I used to assume that this someone accidentally gave out the wrong email address. However, over time, more emails continued to come to my email address for this individual. Some have been from friends of his, others have come from companies he has appeared to do business with. Several have included identifiable information about this individual (address & phone number). Searching on his name returns someone with the same name, at the same address, in the same city as this individual. However, there is no phone number listed in the search I conducted.

So the question remains, if this individual at the address and phone number listed in these emails I have been receiving, is giving out my email address as his own, is it legal? If not, what can be done to stop him? What law(s) would govern it?

  • Determining the Federal Excise Tax on SBC/ATT Invoices?

I have been able to determine the Federal Excise Tax on my past Sprint, MCI, and Cingular bills but I am not quite sure about my past SBC/ATT bills since they do not use the word Excise on the bill.

Now before anyone tells me to take the standard credit or starts copying and pasting from the IRS website, let me save you the trouble. With the 3 carriers listed above, I am already well above the standard credit (not to mention you cannot claim interest on the standard credit) and have read the IRS's "Telephone Tax Refund Questions and Answers" document thoroughly. I know the time frame allowed, I know that the Excise tax has to apply to Long Distance charges (unless it is a bundled service where the tax is not broken a part for local and long distance). There is a portion of the IRS document that says to look for phrases such as Federal, Federal Excise 3%, Federal Excise @ 3%, Federal Excise Tax, Federal Tax, Fed Excise Tax, and FET.

  • Work-related physical. What does it involve?

I have been made an offer by a company, which I have accepted. One of their requirments for employment is that I submit for a physical. I have never had to have a physical as an employment requirement before. The last physical I had was when playing sports in high school where I was required to turn my head and cough. I am assuming that this will be a bit more involved that that? Now the job in question is actually an office job and requires no real physical exertion on my part. Can anyone offer me any insight as to what I can expect and what they may be looking for with such a physical? I do have a pre-existing condition (I am a Type I diabetic) that the employer is aware of and knew well in advance of making the offer. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
