What would be a realistic salary to earn in London as a junior helpdesk or desktop support worker? I have 1.5 yr experience at a well known employer, a good reference, but no certs yet. Is it worth getting some?

Next question, living in a shared house in zone 3 or 4 and having a normal social life, could I save anything on this money? I don't ever expect to buy a house in London, but I eventually want to move somewhere cheaper and buy there.

I just passed my British driving test, but I'm leaving Britain for a year in about 9 months from now and I don't want to buy a car before I get back. Is there any car rental firm that I could use? Everywhere I've asked so far, they want you to have held the licence for at least a year. I don't mind if it's expensive cause I'd only do this once or twice.
