We were together for a long time, and even talked about being "engaged" and gave each other rings, but I realized after moving to another country four months ago (I have a 1 year contract as an ESL teacher, but I'm thinking of staying a second year) that I didn't want to get married, and didn't feel the same way about him as I used to...

I used to love him so much, and I still love him, but I feel more like a friend than romantically. It doesn't help that we argue about things like lies (which don't trouble him but do bother me) and don't even agree about how to live (he likes to stay home and smoke, I want to travel and try new things and go back to school)...

I asked him if we could be friends, or try dating other people like an open relationship, but he said no, and we broke up. Today he called me and seemed so sad and confused... I don't know what I should do, since I do still love him and want him to be okay!! He seems really depressed, and told me that he doesn't know what to do, and his heart is broken. I should add that I haven't been through any break-ups before that weren't peaceful and mutual, so I don't think I handled telling him things well, and seemed really cold. I just feel really guilty and upset about it... any advice??

GUYS AND GIRLS. Are they just afraid of their parents, or too religious, or just genuinely ignorant of what bc is? Why would anyone EVER have sex without birth control, unless they actually wanted to get pregnant?

I'm not talking about people whose condoms break or bc methods otherwise malfunction here!

My natural coloring is fairly pale with some freckles, my natural hair color is medium brown, my eyes are hazel.

He's going away to visit his family, I'm going to visit mine, and we're not going to see each other for three weeks... So far all I have is a DVD movie (Amores Perros), and a t-shirt for his Christmas present, and it seems kind of small X__X

Details: After I stayed the night we were going to spend the next day together, but he suddenly had to go to work for his family. He asked me to stay at his place, saying he was really looking forward to seeing me after work and didn't know how long it would take. So I just studied for classes by myself there & waited for him. Around 8 at night I got really sick of waiting for him, and just walked home.

At 10 PM he called saying he felt really hurt when he got home with dinner and I wasn't there, but I just acted kind of cold and distant, said good night and hung up the phone quickly?

I don't know if I should have been more sympathetic to him or not. Should I call him first to apologize?

Haha, and is it just a coincidence, or are there more guy picky eaters than girls...

And, would you ever use special left-handed scissors??

I don't know what the right response should be- I half agree with taking things slowly, but the other half of me thinks that he's not being honest with me about his real reasons... If you feel affection for someone, what's wrong with just expressing it, and spending time with them???

(Doesn't the use of contraception actually cut down the amount of abortions that would occur?)

Also, are you against abortion in every single case, or would you make exceptions for rape, incest, and pregnancies that would endanger the mother's health?
