My neighbor is outside shooting off his gun...target practice in preparation for hunting. My dog keeps flipping out, he's getting scared. What can I do to help him? He's a Sheltie, 6 yrs old and actually a pretty well trained dog. I follow Cesar Milan as best I can and NILF (nothing in life is free)...so I have some idea of what I'm doing, lol. Loud noises that he can't see or figure out what they are...thunder, gun shots, fireworks, etc...are one thing I just can't seem to work thru with him tho. He can work himself into a panic. The only thing that will calm him down is if I hold him. Even while holding him he will jump at each sound. Luckily I work from home, but I can't spend my whole day holding the poor lil guy...nor can I have Sheltie hair in my art work, lol!!! Any suggest would be greatly appreciated. BTW, asking the neighbor to stop or putting cotton balls in his ears is just not going to happen...I wish it were that simple. Thanks everyone...puppers and I appreciate it :)
