  • Is it normal for a hatchling red ear slider's shell to be slightly flexible?

Long story short, I am not the owner of a month or two old red eared slider turtle. I was reading about them and after inspection, found his shell is slightly flexible at the back. I would compare it to a strong fingernail.

I don't see any signs of shell rot, but thought calcium deficiency could be the culprit. I wasn't sure if it could be that or if younger turtles naturally have softer shells, kind of like human babies having soft skulls until they get older...

    Thanks for any info

  • How do I know if this is a UVB light?

I bought a light for my red eared slider turtle, mainly for heat as I received him unexpectedly, but after doing research I found they need UVB lighting.

The packaging only says "reptile light" so I don't know if it is even a UVB light or just a heating light or what. Should I look into getting a light that I know is a UVB light?

Also, if i get a UVB light, will I also need a heating light for the basking area, or will the UVB light be warm enough?

    Thanks!

  • Does weed change your state of mind? Are you still you when high?

Someone I m close to smokes all the time, like almost constantly and Im worried that I don t know if I know him or just high him, if that makes sense. I don t smoke and never have so I guess I don t dully understand the effects of weed while being high. I just don t like feeling like he doesn t even want to be around me sober, like I m so boring or something that he has to be high to even tolerate me. I know that s just my anxiety and irrational thinking, but I felt the need to talk to someone about it and I don t really have anyone, so, here I am.

  • How to obtain a bachelor's degree when I already have an AA?

I'm currently working towards my Associate of Arts degree in Psychology, after some confusion and frustration in actually deciding on my major. (The last four years, I had planned on doing a technical program, but here I am, doing something I never even imagined for myself in the first place).

Once I finish my AA in a year and a half, I was thinking it would be good to get my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. How does that work if I already have an AA degree? Do my credits from my AA transfer and allow me to receive my Bachelor's in a shorter time period? Or do I have to attend 2-4 years on top of the AA degree, separately?

If that makes any sense... Thanks in advance for any clarification. (:

  • Can you get a septum retainer when you get your septum pierced instead of actual jewelry?

I think a septum retainer would be more subtle & easier to hide for the 3/4 months it takes for the piercing to heal, but is that even an option? (Wanting to hide for my summer job; dietary in a nursing home c: and also until my family gets used to it) Can you get a septum retainer instead of jewelry?

  • Help writing an email to a college please?

I received a scholarship from the college that I plan on attending this fall. The letter I received in the mail informing me of this says that I have to call or email them to accept the scholarship. I've never email a college before and don't really know what I'm supposed to say in the email.

I'm fairly sure that, "Hey! I'd like to accept that scholarship you sent me." isn't exactly going to cut it.

Thank you, anyone who helps. Best answer will get 10+ (:

  • What does it mean when a guy (just met) calls you "sweetie"?

I'm 17 and he's 18. It's a guy that randomly messaged me on twitter (don't give me a lecture about creepers and 40 year olds living in their parent's basement. If you know me, you'd know I'm extremely wary about all that, but you don't know me so don't worry about it), but I messaged back and we've been talking for a while now. He randomly started calling me "sweetie" and I don't know how to take it (I've been ignoring it).

This may just be my social awkwardness, but I find "pet names" (ex: when a couple calls each other 'babe' or 'baby' or even a grandmother calling her grandchild 'sweetheart') extremely weird. Like when I hear a couple call each other babe or baby, I find it extremely cringey.

So I may be looking into this way to much, but idk. I feel extremely awkward about it and don't really know how to respond to it.

  • Help remembering what this website is, where there is an infinite grid & anyone can type on it & it shows up in real time?

There's the main website where anyone can go on and write anything and it shows up in real time, but you can also make your own. I've seen it on tumblr before, some people make their own and link to it on their tumblr so their followers can leave notes or comments there. I can't think of what it's called and it's driving me nuts!!

    Thank you! ( :

  • Can a virus get on my USB flash drive if it was in the computer while there was a virus on the computer?

The flash drive I normally use recently broke and the only other one I have is one that a few years ago was plugged into our computer when a virus got on it. Could the virus be on my flash drive? If so, is there anything I can do about it?

Or should I just throw it away and buy a new flash drive?

  • What is the best no-contract payphone plan?

I'm looking into no-contract phones such as go phone, straight talk, and virgin mobile.

Which do you think has the best plan (doesn't have to be one of these three listed).

I would prefer it to be under $40

    Have unlimited Data

    Unlimited text/messaging (including picture messages)

And I don't really care if there's unlimited calling because I don't talk on the phone all that much.

So far the virgin mobile plan for $35 beyond talk plan is looking best for me (300 minutes for talk, unlimited text, unlimited data (with 4g until you run out of 2.5gb, then 3g for the rest of the month)), but maybe you know something I don't. (:

  • If I'm going into a vet tech program, do I have to do general studies before?

And if so, how many years of college total will I have to take (general and vet tech program)?

  • Is it necessary to take chemistry in high school to get into a vet tech program in college?

I'm a senior this year and haven't had basic chemistry yet. I could try to get switched into it this year, but it would be difficult and the class may be full, so I may not get into it. Anyone that's a vet tech-- did you take chemistry in high school?

If you didn't, did you have to take it in college or did you have a difficult time getting into a vet tech program?

(Sorry for putting this question in the Pets category, I wasn't getting any answers when I put it in the education section. I figured there may be a vet or vet tech in this section anyways that could help me.)

  • Do I /need/ to take chemistry in high school before becoming a vet tech?

I want to get into a vet tech program when I finish high school.

I'm starting my senior year this week, and I haven't had chemistry yet. I completely forgot to sign up for it this year, so I wasn't put in the class. I could try to get switched into it, but that would be difficult and there's no guarantee that I'll be able to get in it (all the classes may already be full).

I've taken more than my share of science classes during high school including many college level classes (and the credits will transfer). These classes include:

    Agriculture Science I and II

    Animal Science (basically Ag III)

    Biology

    Physical Science

    Zoology

    AP Biology Lecture

    And this year I'm taking:

    AP Enviromental Science

    AP Biology Lab

Psychology (if that counts as a science..)

    as well as College Algebra.

So, would it be absolutely necessary for me to take basic chemistry to get into a vet tech program? If I don't take it in high school, will I have to take it in college?

Thank you so much to anyone who took the time to read all this and tried to help me. (:

  • Opinion on septum piercings?

I'm thinking about getting one. Nothing anyone says will change my mind because no matter what, there's always going to be someone out there that doesn't like them. c:

I'm just curious and bored, so.

In my opinion, they look good on just about anyone and everyone. I don't think getting a job while having one would be an issue because you can simply flip it up and hide it or take it out completely. c:

  • Would this haircut look good on me? (pictures)?

    {{ I've asked this before but I wanted more opinions }}

Here's a couple pictures of me:

    #2:

    http://tinypic.com/r/2zi0d41/5

Here's the haircut I'm thinking about getting (the cut, not color. I may get some highlights or something but feel free to recommend anything!!):

    https://www.google.com/search?bih=643&bi%E2%80%A6

Basically the cut would be somewhere between chin and shoulder length, lots of chunky, choppy layers, and bangs that come from the far side kind of. (Side note: My hair isn't that straight naturally. I usually straighten my hair, so if I got this hair cut it wouldn't be bone straight... I'd straighten it probably but keep it textured as well..)

Also, I've had my hair pretty short before (after I cut 10 inches off for Locks of Love) and this was the only picture on my computer I could find from then..

Please give your honest answer, you're not going to hurt my feelings. (:
