What would happen if the American government was forced to only spend the money brought in?
I think everyone will agree both parties in recent history has way over spent. What do you think would be the result if they were only allowed to spend the money brought in with out raising taxes. This is not a bash of either party. Both have way over spent.
6 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoTo the people who support abortion rights, but are against corporal punishment (death penalty)?
What are your reasons to support one, but not the other. This is not a political statement. It just makes sense to me if you are pro choice you would be pro death penalty, and vice versa. Please explain your rational. I want answers from both sides.
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhat are your thoughts on these quotes?
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. Thomas Jefferson
"To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, 'the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, and the fruits acquired by it.'"
-- Thomas Jefferson
I have been on the fence on the health care reform, and yesterday I was talking to my neighbor who is 100% for reform and a government option. He said it is our duty as Americans to take care of the less fortunate. I decided to do a little research on the found fathers Ideals for americans duties to each other, and came across these. I thought they were pretty interesting.
3 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow is it not discrimination to tax higher income families at a higher rate than low income families?
Most people say "because they can afford it." That dosen't make it right. Why should I have to pay more than the family next door. I am not talking about health care only income taxes. It just dosen't seem American to me. We should all pay the same percentage.
19 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhere do you see America in 50 years, 100 years?
Please no near sightedness. Bush will be long gone and so will Obama. What is your ideal America for your children and grand children?
14 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhat would your ideal tax rates be on these incomes?
1,000,000 and above
250,000-1,000,000
100,000-250,000
0-100,000
I think no matter what you make individual or business the rates should be the same. The only way this would work though is if there were no tax right offs period. No mortgage interest, no child deduction, no business expenses, etc.
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy do republicans and democrats hate each other so much?
Basically you guys are the exact same, but different. The republicans want to control every ones personal life. (gay marriage, abortion, etc. In my state no porn or high point beer, and until recently no tattoos), but allow business to do what ever they want. The Dem's want to control businesses (epa, minimum wage, etc.), but allow you to do whatever you want in your personal life. As I see it you guys should get together, and we would have us one hell of a tyranny. Your thoughts.
20 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy not offer a tax cut to offset the cost of health care to businesses instead of taxing them?
I own and operate a small business, and can not afford to offer health insurance to my employees. Would it not be more efficient to off set the cost of health care by giving business a tax cut to offset the cost. If this health care bill becomes law I will have to close my business, and that will be another 34 people in the unemployment line. What are your thoughts?
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWould you support a revalution to get back to the basics of the constitution?
If you read quotes from the founding fathers. They predicted exactly what is happening now in America. I think if we returned to the original plan those men had. This country would be a lot better place. Your thoughts?
2 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoIf you could choose any American to be president that is not in politics now who would you choose?
When I say not in politics I mean not a presidential canidate now, past, or in the near future.
20 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat would happen if we canceled all social programs?
welfare, medicaid, medicare, social security, etc. Would this make the American people stronger. Would charitable donations go up. Taxes go down. I don't believe the american public would allow millions to perish. So, maybe we don't need these? Maybe they are just tools for an government to gain more power? What are your thoughts?

3 AnswersOther - Social Science1 decade agoDo you agree with these, and why?
Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.
Most bad government has grown out of too much government
I am not a friend to a very energetic government. It is always oppressive.
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government
"The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not
2 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWill there ever be a legitimate pres. canidate with common sense?
I believe most people are in the middle. leaning to the left or the right. All we ever get anymore are these extreme leftist or rightist. I am a fiscal conservative who wants the government to stay out of my life, my business, and stay small. Basicly get back to states rights. Also I am a liberal social, who wants government to stay out of my life and other peoples lives. (Don't those sound the same? SMALL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT) Maybe someday someone with common sense will run who understand big government fails. History proves this. Tell me what you think.
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat is Obama's stance on gun control?
I am by no means a "gun nut". I own two, but I fully support the people's right to own and carry them. Does Obama plan to re-enact the brady bill, or something similar?
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoRiddle me this? If you will.?
Do you think the greed and excess of big business is why the republicans lost so bad last night. I am a rep., but personally I am sick of CEOs making 25 million a year, while there employees are laid off or struggle to make ends meet. I saw a study that said in 1970 the average CEO made 70 times the average employee, and in 2007 the average CEO made 7000 times the average employee. I can't be the only rep. who sees a problem with this. However, I do not think taxing the hell out of business is the answer. Frankly, I do not know what the answer is. I think the reps will have a hard time being re-elected until this changes. What are your thoughts?
14 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat are your thoughts on the $700b bailout?
I am a republican, and this just seems like welfare for millionaires. It may be a necessary evil, but it sure leaves a funny taste in my mouth. If it is necessary. Why wouldn't they split it up? $350b to the banks and $350b in another stimulus package.
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy do college football fans around the country hate OU so much?
I know they are the winning-est program in modern history, but why all the hate. Texas fans need not apply. I get why you hate us, but not everyone else.
16 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoIf you could ask president Bush only one question what would it be?
Only serious answers please. Also please put your political party with your answer. Thank you.
20 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy are you republican or democrat?
I am republican because after a lot of hard work and a little luck I have become financially successful. The republicans help me keep more of my money. On the social issues I really don't care one way or the other. I think most of the decisions should be left to individual states. What is right for cali's may not be right for texans. I know this is very brief, but don't most people choose on just a few issues. Thank you for your input.
