Will growth solve anything?
It seems like the world's leaders are always looking to increase power, influence, profit, but will we not reach a point when we have to find a balance? Population cannot grow forever, with limited resources, we must seek equilibrium instead of constant competition. In only a few hundred years we'll be fighting for food and water again. How many people can the planet even sustain indefinitely? I think we should be transitioning to a more balanced world society before industrialization, huge populations, and unsustainable lifestyles turn on us for the worst. Any opinions?

4 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoRecurring back Pains!?
Every couple of months I have a period of several days or so where its extremely painful to move my back or put pressure on it. Otherwise I have full mobility with no pain the vast majority of the time. I thought it could be a pinched nerve from a previous sports injury, but it only happens very rarely. Could weather have to do with it? Any suggestions?
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoHow is the Taliban still functioning?
After nearly 10 years of being pummeled by US Special Forces, air superiority, huge amounts of bombs and tens of thousands of troops, how can they still be operating at a significant level? I would think its because they are growing or gaining new members, but if they aren't, they shouldn't have survived this long in my opinion. Anyone else with a reasonable opinion?

2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoHow solid are USMC signing contracts?
I'm between joining the Army and the Marine Corps and I've heard that in the Marine Corps, it doesn't matter what mos you signed up for, it just depends on what positions they need filled. I want to ensure I can get the Infantry contract if not the Recon Marine one. So what if I have a higher ASVAB test score than average and they need an *** in admin or somedesk job or something other than what I want, basically what I mean is, as long as I'm within or above standards for testing and PT, is my contract in the Marine Corps written in stone?

Is it legal to carry a knife on your person in public in Illinois? If so, is there a length requirement, I have heard that 3 inch blades are allowed, but only from friends.
If you can tell me the answer and tell me a joke, you get the ten points...
1 AnswerLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoHow is it after training?
I'm joining the Marine Corps and I'd like to know if the DI's and all your superiors are still on you and treat you bad after boot and infantry school (where I'm going). I know they'll always be tough but is it as bad as boot always? Whatever the answer I'm still joining.
Answers from Marines will be much appreciated. Thanks.
6 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoSecurity Clearance for Legal Immigrant?
I have recently committed to join the Marine Corps after high school, there's not much more a recruiter can tell me about the Marines that I don't already know, I've done my homework, my only question is, since I hope one day to join Force Recon or MARSOC one day, and I'm a legal permanent resident (citizen in 2 years), if I'm eligible for a security clearance, since that's what it takes to join those units. I have no criminal record, I hate drugs and alcohol, and I came to the US at the age of 2. Can anyone answer?
5 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhat kind of people join Special Operations groups?
I have been curious about what kind of personalities those that become the best in the military have, what kind of childhood? I've met many athletes that would join the military as last resort and that itself tells me that they probably dont have the right motivation, do non-athletes succed in special operations feild, what if they are extremely motivated?
3 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoMatter in our universe?
I was in my high school chemistry class, and we were discussing atoms and how they compose everything (blah blah blah) but how do we know that in some far off corner of the universe, or even on a planet near us there aren't any other elements, or even completely different types of matter, I've heard of dark matter and dark energy adn stuff, but there is not much proof for that, i just mean how do we know that elements dont exist past 200 or so protons?
8 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoI want a combat role in the military?
I have researched the Army and Marine Corps (My two best options) and so far I'm pretty much sold in joining the USMC and either entering an infantry or recon battallion, but I'm having some conflict whether I should join the Army because then there are the possibilities of becoming a ranger or Special Forces operator. I just want to fight, no supporting roles (cooking, cleaning, fixing crap) will cut it for me. Any suggestions?
