At work I am an Embedded Systems Engineer. Basically that involves designing, building and programming special purpose computers for particular requirements, usually at the component level, not PC-style board level assembly. The main non-computing interest I tend to comment on here is astronomy. Particular areas of interest are spectroscopy, imaging detector design (which ties in nicely with the day job) and binocular astronomy.
