Just looking for some imput as to why people think that euthanasia should be an option as an ethical choice for palliative care.

  • Suggestions for someone with a fear of water.?

    Hey.

My dilemma is this. My family and I are going camping this summer, and I want to be able to go on the small boat with the husband and kiddo. I DO have a fear of water though...and my fear of water has prevented me from ever learning how to swim (or even float).

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to safely go in the boat with the family and keep my cool. Is just a life jacket sufficient? While we are on the topic of life jackets - if I was to go overboard, wearing a lifejacket...what happens exactly?? Will my head stay out of water for sure, or will it put my top half under water?? I sound paranoid, but I truly fear water and don't know what to expect.

Any information would be useful. Thanks.

  • Does anyone know the details regarding the Ontario May 2011 gov't cheque?

I know that many people received a government payment via direct deposit May 10th, 2011. Was this an OST payment?

Does anyone know what the value of the payment is for a family of 3 and when the physical cheques are due to arrive in the mail for those of us that aren't set up for direct deposit?

    Thanks

  • Chem questions (State of matter calculations)?

I'm getting lost on these 2 questions, so help would be greatly appreciated. Question #1 is worth 3 pts, question #2 is worth 5 pts.

    1) The temperature of 12 L of gas is raised from 25 to 50 degrees C, what will the new volume be if mass and pressure are kept constant? Show your work.

    2) Calculate the volume of 36.0g of carbon monoxide at STP.

    - note - I've already calculated the molar mass to be 1008.36 mol, not sure if this is needed or not for the question.

    Thanks!

  • Inclusion-exclusion math problem help please!?

Trying to figure out how to solve this and completely perplexed. Help would be appreciated.

There are a group of 48 students enrolled in mathematics, french and physics. Some students were more successful then others: 32 passed French, 27 passed physics, 33 passed mathematics; 26 passed French and math, 26 passed physics and math, 21 passed french and physics, and 21 passed French, math and physics.

How many students passed one or more of the subjects? Solve the question using the inclusion-exclusion principle. Show your calculations.

Once again, thank you from this confused adult learner.

  • Statistics (MDM4U) Indirect Approach question?

I don't fully understand the "Indirect Approach" method of obtaining an answer (combinatorics problems). Can someone help me on this one please.

An office consists of 7 men and 4 women.

    a) How many ways can their manager chooose a hiring committee of three staff from this office?

(Ive done this part, if you can ck my answer - that would be great)

    C=(11,3) = P (11,3)/3!

    = (11*10*9)/(3*2*1)

    = 990/6

    = 165

There would be 165 ways to choose a hiring committee of 3.

    b) How many of these committees will contain at least 1 man?? Use the INDIRECT APPROACH to find the answer.

  • Can I get some help & explanation with MDM4U (statistics) course plz.?

Hey all, as said in the title, I am studying statistics after 13 years out of high school, I notice picking up on some stuff is a little more difficult (some topics are easier though as well). Anyways, I'd like to give a couple of questions, and hope someone out there can not only help me work my way through them, but explain HOW we are getting to the answer. My correspondence material is really not making it clear to me. These questions are regarding permuations and factorial notation.

    Thanks in advance Yahoo-ers!

    1) Simplify:

    (n+2)!

    --------- =

    (n+2)n!

    2) Solve for n

    (n+2)!

    ----------- = 110

    (n)!

  • What would a person with no income/expenses expect to receive for a tax return - Ontario?

There is someone who my husband knows through a friend of a friend. He does not work (and does not receive OW etc)...so he has absolutely no T4s or sources of income to report. He also does not pay rent etc. What is the average basic refend he would expect to receive. In previous years he has done it through H&R block so he could get his return right away. He hasnt kept his previous paperwork saying what he actually would have received for a return had he sent it away...and is wondering if this would be worth it to him.

Any estimates would be greatly appreciated...and thanks in advance.

  • Help with a grade 11 chem question plz :)?

The carbon dioxide exhaled by astronauts who are on a space shuttle is scrubbed by pumping the air through canisters of lithium hydroxide, LiOH. Chemical equation is:

    2 LiOH + CO2(g) ----> Li2CO3(s) + H2O (l)

Now ... I have 3 questions related to this!!!

    a) What mass of carbon dioxide can 1.00kG of lithium hydroxide absorb?

    b) What mass of lithium carbonate Li2CO3 is produced?? (Is this just figuring out the molar mass...if so, I understand that)

    c) Explain why this reaction limits the amount of time that astronauts can spend in space?

    All help is greatly appreciateded!!!!!
