at work we have a neighbours tree growing well over our roof and is causing a lot of problems, anyone know the legal stance in trimming it back?had conflicting stories, one said that we can just trim it as long as we leave any bits on the neighbours property, the other said we had to get their permission to trim it back

  • northlink ferries anyone??????????????

ok,you will have to live in the north isles to get this one,in fact i will re-phrase that as to living in orkney, northlink ferries get a massive subsidy to provide lifeline services to the northern isles,orkney/shetland,we have a ferry that goes between orkney and the mainland that has just been sent to norway for three days to pick up volcano refugees leaving us with the one shetland boat (the other is on refit) that cant be arsed to come here or shetland is more important,so why the **** is this company getting my hard earned taxes for not providing the service that it its meant to when there is a local operator that gives a better service off his own back and has never had any help from the government/council

  • ok one for the no smokers out there?

not that i'm going to go on about the price of a packet of smokes, but i am curious on where the government is going to get the tax money that they a ripping off us smokers when they finally price us into submission and get us to stop?all im saying is i can put up with a price hike but 50 pence a pack since xmas is taking the piss, and a decent answer would be good so no yanks thanks,2.3 billion to treat the smokers in britain a year,we cover that and more,so where is the government going to make up the deficit when we all stop?

  • legalised drugs question,........................?

ok before anyone gives me a hard time we'll get something straight, people take drugs, fact,so wouldn't we be better off if they were legal?

i think it would solve a lot of problems,no more trafficking, better control over the quality etc.you would completely wipe out the bad element and the government would get it's share

it would also pretty much knacker the taliban if the opium was being bought by pharmaceutical companies from the farmers in afghanistan (directly helping the people we are there to help) and probably one in the eye for the c.i.a. as well

fair trade cannabis?surely it cant be a bad thing

  • one for the yanks.................?

don't you think its a bit hypocritical that your giving scotland a hard time for the release of the lockerbie bomber (who it must be said was a scapegoat) when you live in a country that actively sought out and employed people that should have stood trail for war crimes?

apart from the germans involved in your rocket programme (operation paperclip) there were the japanese scientists that worked in china doing biological and chemical tests on living people including american POWs

and you live in a country where your troops will never stand trial in another country for crimes committed in said country
