  • When do you confront people on their racist comments?

Out of the 20 people I work with, more than half have repeatedly made racist comments about Senator Obama.

At what point should I say something? Clearly, they don't care what I think, so it would come across as lecturing if I called them out.

We all talk about politics frequently, so it happens often.

I usually just walk away, or try to steer the conversation to my objection to him, which is purely ideological. I don't care that he is black. In fact, I greatly admire how he has brought more people into the political process.

I just don't think co-workers want another person correcting them.

  • Is Tony Kornheiser leaving Pardon The Interruption?

He has been gone for over three weeks.

Yesterday, Michael Wilbon made a joke about him not having signed his reinstatement papers.

But, he recently accepted a buyout from the Washington Post, and I'm beginning to wonder if he is returning to the show.

  • What happened to Lawrence Kudlow's finger?

On his right hand, Mr.Kudlow has his middle (I think) finger taped up. It has been like that for about three weeks? I don't recall him discussing it on the show. It must have been seriously injured.

    Thanks.

  • What is a good running shoe for someone with flat feet?

I have flat feet, and osteo-arthritis of the back. So, I need a cushioned shoe. I use arch supports. I am a "normal" runner, with no pronation or other issues. Currently, I'm running in Asics 1130, and they are terrible. They seem way too stiff, and my feet hurt quite a bit. (I'm sure they are fine for other people).

I want to increase my mileage, so my next pair needs to be much more comfortable. I've looked on Runner's World.com, but they don't seem to address flat-feet specifically.

    Thank you very much.

  • Would you support routine dog and police patrols in an apartment complex because of a few stolen welcome mats?

Apparently, some of my neighbors have had their welcome mats stolen outside their doors. The note from management said a "few." Now, we are being subjected to routine dog and police patrols. Isn't this a little heavy handed? How will the K9 unit solve a crime involving a mat?? Although I live in a dump, it is not in a bad area, and it is not government housing. Under previous management, my car was vandalized three times in two weeks, and they could not have cared less. Now, for a few welcome mats, they have invited the police to walk through the building daily--with the K9 unit.

  • What type of watches did Doug wear on King of Queens?

They always seemed to be digital or sport watches. Did he ever wear a Nike watch?

  • Shouldn't the home plate umpire be suspended from the Cubs/Padres brawl?

It's a given the players will be suspended for fighting, but the umpire should absolutely be suspended for allowing the fight to occur. I've never seen a player almost beaned, that wasn't escorted to first by the home plate umpire. At the very least, he should have known very heated words would be exchanged (even by a class act like Derek Lee).

  • Should Bud Selig suspend Jason Giambi for telling the truth?

Except for Jose Canseco and the deceased Ken Caminiti, Jason Giambi is one of the few major leaguers to be honest about using steroids. He admitted under oath to using steroids, sort of apologized two years ago at spring training, and recently told USA Today he was wrong to do "that stuff." That earned him a summons to Bud Selig's office, who ordered him to cooperate with the dormant George Mitchell investigation. In the interim, he failed a drug test for amphetamines. Now comes word that Mr. Selig is going to suspend Giambi if he doesn't. According to Si.com, he doesn't have to rat out all the cheaters (paging Barry Bonds), just talk about the overall usage in the league. Legally, Selig probably doesn't have this right (Scott Boras said that today on Jim Rome's show). Giambi has already said baseball should apologize, does he owe anyone more than that? Should Selig suspend him for being honest?

  • Why does TBS feel that having the lead character (PJ) in My Boys suck beer constantly make her more endearing?

Is this supposed to be entertaining? The female lead sucks beer in every single promo, including the final shot of her on the latest promotion for the new season. Do they think if a girl sucks beer constantly she's more likable? Or, are we supposed to be glued to the TV because she's liberated sexually and loves "hooking up." On the episode I watched, there was an obligatory one date fornication scene, where she assured the guy it was okay that they barely knew each other.

Do writers feel a need to push this thoughtless trash because of the success of Two and a Half Men?

  • Why does Apple's Safari keep crashing when I add a bookmark?

I downloaded Apple's new Safari web browser for Windows today. It installed perfectly, but every time I add a bookmark, it crashes--hard. It seems faster than Firefox, and is very attractive, but why is it doing this?

  • What happened to Richie on King of Queens?

I record and watch the King of Queens daily, but I don't recall seeing an episode explaining the elimination of Richie. He was a weak link, in my view, and afterwards, we didn't have to hear Doug referred to as moose anymore. What happened to him?

  • What did you think of House of Payne on TBS?

I thought it was painful. Morbidly obese black people shoving fried chicken down their throats, speaking ebonics, and being mean to each other.

Is this really entertainment? Is this a positive portrayal of African-Americans? Why is it okay? Because Tyler Perry, the show's creator is black?

  • Does Myspace do ANYTHING to stop the spam from their site?

I just opened a myspace.com site, and even though it is owned by right-wing cabal member Rubert Murdoch, it is filled with spam in the form of women soliciting things. If it is worth $500 million to Murdoch, shouldn't it at least attempt to control unwelcome intrusions. In less than three weeks, I've received 30 requests from women (many the same person) who are fake. It is amazing. Plus, doesn't this show that the competition for the largest friend total is a fraud?

  • What is the point/focus of Viacom's Spike Channel.?

Viacom owns Spike, and it is in the basic tier of cable, which is highly coveted. Yet, the channel seems to have zero purpose. Yes, it has wrestling and ultimate type fighting, but it is nearly devoid of entertainment on the weekends, and one would think they'd try to make it distinctive. It used to be the Nashville Network. They removed the marvelous Blind Date.

  • What yoga poses should I avoid if I've been diagnosed as having degenerative disc disease?

My "specialist" doctor recently told me I had to quit running and weight lifting because I have degenerative disc disease.

What yoga poses should I avoid?

Almost overnight, I've lost my ability to comfortably do forward bends, plow/wide-legged plow, and knees to ears.

I've already had surgery for a blow disc (L5-S1), but this pain appears when I run (or "power walk as I do now).

    I also have flat feet.

His diagnosis is killing as I derive tremendous pleasure from running.

As per the "Posture Presription", I know longer sit in chairs. I only squat or kneel at a desk.

When sitting on a couch, I sit in cross legged postion with a lumbar roll.

I do a 90 minute yoga session in the a.m., and a 30 minute one in the afternoon.

As per the "McKenzie Method", I do cobra/backend every two hours.

In other words, I do all I can to improve things.

Nevertheless, the pain the area of my traps appears when I walk or run.

    Thank you.

  • Would George Hamilton be a good host for The Price is Right?

TMZ.com is reporting that George Hamilton is the front runner to replace Bob Barker. Is this a good fit? They quote CBS chief Les Moonves as saying he's wonderfully charming.

I know he's wonderfully charming, but would he wake a good host?

His show with his ex-wife was decent, but short-lived, and he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously. Self-deprecation is very important in my opinion.

Bob Barker says that much of the show's appeal is just based on the contestants, not on him. Will Mr. Hamilton be able to subjugate his ego?

I don't know, but the great Mr. Barker's retirement is nearing.

  • How much of Seinfeld did Jerry Seinfeld write?

I don't find many sitcoms funny. But, I think Seinfeld was brilliant. I've seen a few DVDs where they talk with the writers on the show. This gave me the impression that they were as responsible for the humor as Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David.

Was Seinfeld responsible for certain parts of the show? The Yankees angle? Susan's parents? How collaborative was it?

If the other writers were responsible, have any of them had any post-Seinfeld success.

    Thank you.

  • What will happen with my "broken" back? Serious trainers please help me.?

40 year old runner, weightlifter (free weights), and yogi. About nine years ago, I blew an L5-S1 disc. The "sciatica" was excrutiang. My left leg was essentially useless during this time. My family doctor told me to quit running (and mountain biking). Finally, an MRI revealed enough for a great, great surgeon to do a microdiscechtomy. Within five weeks I was running and lifting.

Recently, years later, while working on a computer, driving, and only at the end of a tiring run, I develop extreme pain near my traps. My GP sent me to his specialist. The x-rays, he said, revealed that my "thoracic spine is filled with bone spurs. I also have flat feet.

I've ignored him, doubled my yoga and posture awareness, and begun lifting and running again. My free weight routine is from Pavel Tsatouline (Power to the People): deads, chest, shoulders, and tris/bis. Running is 3-5 miles 4 x week.

Bumping the weight on deads causes pain. I LOVE deadlifts though. Please help.

  • If an ad agency employ comes up with a brilliant/successful ad campaign, does their career improve?

Poor wording, but here's my question. I love the Geico caveman commercials. I'm sure a team worked on it, but will those responsible experience a dramatic improvement in their career opportunities or does it just go towards their overall body of work? Truly successful campaigns are probably rare, so I would hope their resume would be greatly enhanced.
