Pro-Amnesty. Pro-North American Union. America needs to stay #1 but we won't be able to do it with a population of only about 300 million. China and India have well over 1 billion people and they are industrializing quickly. Doubtless, you've seen the statistics that by 2030 or so, China will overtake us as the biggest economy in the world (and thus able to afford the biggest military). Unless we don't mind the secondary role of ensuring the balance of power between China and India (kind of like England did in Europe), we need to grow quickly. If we can grow quickly, either through liberal immigration or through a Union that's bigger than the United States, we will have a chance to stay ahead of India and China. Growing quickly through immigration worked before...most notably from 1890 to 1910 when we were propelled from a 19th century 'also ran' into the 20th century powerhouse. Let's look at the big picture folks! We don't have the luxury to stay the size we are.
Is this a good Egypt policy for America?
Suppose Obama says: "We view the current situation in Egypt as an internal matter. We want whichever government can provide for the needs of the Egyptian people. Right now, we believe that government to be Mubarak's. However, if Mubarak does not implement real reform in the next few months, we will no longer view it as an internal matter and we will withdraw our support for him" This gives plenty of wiggle room to keep Mubarak (since our other dictator 'friends' like Saudi are watching to see if we throw Mubarak under the bus), yet if Mubarak is overthrown, we can claim that he didn't implement 'real reform'. Also, we could say that American aid to Egypt is for the Egyptian people and will continue regardless of whichever government is in power. Thoughts?

...or can we give an equivalent tax break to the rest of us?
3 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoif millionaires kept the Bush tax cuts, would they hire more employees?
...or would they first wait to see what demand was like for their product? Any smart businessman hires people only when there is demand. Therefore, in my opinion, the best way to inspire hiring is to increase demand for products. Thoughts?
5 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoWhich do Republicans want more...tax cuts or to cut the deficit?
(No one wants to pay taxes but if the deficit is out of control, that causes inflation and Republicans are supposed to be the party of fiscal responsibility)

Remember: Back then, it took an ACT OF CONGRESS even to create a corporation. Corporations were EXTREMELY rare. If anything, the founders would have permitted corporations only to have commercial free speech. Thoughts?

• Guarantee access to affordable health care even for those with pre-existing conditions.
• Prevent insurers from unjustly cancelling a policy.
• Encouraging Small Business to pool together (to offer health care at lower prices).
• Allow companies to reward employees who adopt healthier lifestyles.
• Allowing people to stay on their parents’ policies up to age 25.

What would happen if Senate Democrats actually required the Republicans to execute on the filibuster...that is, to make Republicans actually read from the phone book, etc for days at a time. Wouldn't it be kinda like what Clinton did with the government shutdown of 1995?
