  • How loud is a lovebird compared to a cockatiel?

I currently have a lovebird and a parakeet and I am looking at adopting a cockatiel; however I live in an apartment. I am worried about the noise. I am told that this bird is a "very" happy bird and loves to talk and whistle. I just need to know the comparison to the lovebird, which is pretty loud in my opinion.

  • What to wear on a first date?

I am being set up with a guy, whom I have never met before (we have saw pictures of each other). We are going to a causal pizza place in a suburb of Chicago. I am slightly taller than him though...so shoes are an issue.

He told me that the dress is causal at this restuarant and that we might go boweling or miniture golfing afterwards.

Also, I have extremely curly hair, so is it better to wear it up or down?

  • What is wrong with my car?

I have a 2002 pontiac grand am. The oil and air bag light came on. Then the check engine light and trac off and the ABS light. Then my car completely shut off. I checked my oil and all the other fluids and everything is ok.

My car is now running and seems ok. Is it safe to drive for now. I know it needs checked out, but I can't do that for a couple of days.

  • My parakeet is limping to one side and shaking?

Please don't answer take the bird to the vet. I know that, but its 10pm I can't do that right now.

He didn't fall or get hurt that I know of. He was on his play gym on the floor like he always plays on in the morning and the evening. He just keeps getting worse. His foot doesn't look abnormal at all like it is injuried or cut.

He only seems to do it on his rug, but he is on that every day. I don't get it.

Any suggestions on what is wrong?

  • How do I tame my lovebird?

He is an adult lovebird that I have had since Feburary of this year. I handle him every day and he still does not want to bond with me. He refues to sit on my finger. He just tucks his feet up under him. I can tell whoever had him before me just grabed him from behind and held him that way. He will sit on my shoulder and walk with me, but it is a struggle to get him out of his cage or off the floor. I also have a parakeet who he adores. They play together all the time. My parakeet knows how to step up and do other tricks, but the lovebird I just can not train. any suggestions?

  • My cable hookup in my apartment is going bad. Is that the landlords problem or Comcast?

It is the cable hook up on the wall. Comcast never installed it.

  • Is there photo paper that is longer than 11 inches that you can find in a store?

I need to scan photos into my computer and resize them to 1 1/2 inches x 2 inches and connect then all to each other to put around a real that is 14 inches in diameter. Would Fedex Kinkios be able to do it?

  • My lovebird has liquid stools. What is wrong?

I am making an appointment for him at an avian vet due to the problem.

I have read in my bird books though that this could be an indicator for diabetes or kidney problems. Also, that it can cause the bird to drink a lot more. My lovebird does drink a lot of water. I just thought he drank more than because he is a little larger than my parakeet.

I have no idea the age of my lovebird ( I adopted him from a shelter) , but is this something that happens with old age? I do not know if my bird is old or young.

My bird seems to act fine. His stools kept getting runny and then they got better and today I noticed they are almost pure clear liquid.

  • Is quick stop safe for a blood feather?

I was told to use quick stop for a birds feather. I also read the back of the bottle and it said it was for surface cuts. Is it dangerous for the birds.

The lady that told me to use it was an owner of a bird rescue shelter who has used it on many birds.

Now I am being told by others, including a vet that it is not safe for that use. That it is for nails only. Is this true?

  • My lovebird has runny feces. Is something wrong? Or does he need a diet change?

All I feed my lovebird is a seed diet because he never eats anything else I give him. I keep trying and nothing works.

I have only had him for a month and he seems to be getting tamer and more loveable ( I adopted him and he was already partially tame).

So I do not know if the diet change is causing him to have irregular feces. Sometimes it is almost pure liquid with no color. Does he need to be take to the vet?

  • What do I do? My maintenance men for my apartment building smoke in my apartment while I was gone.?

The maintenance men came and fixed my bathtub while I wasn't home and when I came back home my apartment smelled of cigarette smoke.

I also have 2 birds, which is very harmful to them.

Do I call my landlord and complain? Do I write a letter to him? Or do I just ignore it?

  • Whats wrong with my parakeet?

I leave my parakeets cage door open whenever I am home. He always stays in his cage. He may walk out on the door and chirp or climp up to the top to play with the toys up there. Now though he flies out. He chews my baskets. I can't leave the door open at all. When I am home and have the door shut he looks so sad. He hates it. I usually only shut the door when people are over, he is in trouble, or I am gone. I do not understand why he doesn't stay in anymore. Then when he is out he doesn't come to me like he used to.

  • What homemade toys are safe for a bird? Or things around the house are safe for a bird to play with?

I have a parakeet and a lovebird. My parakeet doesn't really like to play with anything but the expensive bell toys, but my lovebird will play with anything. My parakeet does love to chew on my baskets which I hate. Is there anything close to a basket that he will like that he can chew on? He doesn't like bird chew toys.

  • I have pink eye and a cold is that harmful to my birds?

I do not touch my birds and I wash my hands before I change their food and water.

  • My parakeet and lovebird like each other too much. Should I keep them away from one another?

They are kept in separate cages, but I let them out of the cage together and my parakeet will regeratate for the lovebird. I know the lovebird is a male through DNA testing. Also, the parakeet is a male (he has a blue cere). I was just wondering if this is normal for them to like each other so much. They call to each other all day until I get them out of the cage and put them together. My parakeet is worse than the lovebird.

  • What is an ideal cage for a lovebird?

I just rescused a lovebird and I put him in my parakeets old cage, which is somewhat small for him. He needs a bigger cage. I do not know much about lovebirds or what type of cage is the best for them.

  • How do you tame a lovebird?

I just adopted him from a bird rescue shelter. He is very afraid when I put my hands in the cage. He has been abused and neglected (he is healthy now). I have him to the point where he does not freek out when I walk by the cage now. He knows his name even (my other bird that is trained doesn't even seem like he knows that). So I know he is very intellegent. I just know training him is going to be very difficult and hard with him. I just do not believe in leaving a bird in his cage for his entire life.
