Just graduated from college! I'm about to start my dream job in a few weeks, my pay is taking a very large jump, and after all the hard work I can't wait to have my first official paycheck in my grubby little hands :) I'm thinking of moving to a nicer apt, buying some great books, doing some cool things to my car, etc.

I know lots of you probably had student loans to pay off but what did you do with your first real paycheck after college? (take a vacation, buy a new car, upgrade to the nice toilet paper?)

I love studying body language and have a book or two on the subject. I'm looking for another one that will have concepts I haven't heard of yet about what to do in everyday social interactions but it seems like every book has been written for businessmen (and women) who want to give great presentations or rule the boardroom. All I want to do is be better at interacting with my peers. Anyone know of any good titles...

I first noticed this when I was on an online dating site. I would see a profile picture that I was instantly attracted to but as soon as I clicked on it the sign was always Aquarius! BAD COMBO with my sign from personal experiences!!!! I could search specifically for Cancer men and although the interests, humor, and hobbies in the profile would attract me the pics did nothing for me at first look.

For the record I'm NOT hung up on looks! The more I hang out with a person the more attractive I find them especially if he's funny. I'm only referring to that instant attraction where you pass a cute guy in the mall and immediately WHIP your head around for a second look.

It's like i can't get away from Aquarius'. In real life every time I have a crush, once we actually start talking, I learn they're an Aquarius. EVERY TIME!

It seems the features I'm most attracted to: strong jawline, straight sharp nose, clear blue eyes, etc are found in Aquarius'. Wheras Cancers, (who I'm craZy about,) have more rounded faces, and unassuming features. Has anyone else experienced this...

Sent my Nesco dehydrator out yesterday and I''m already anxious to have my baby back. Worked fantastic for a month and a half then one I day I plug it in and it blows only cold air. If it breaks again I'm going to upgrade to another dehydrator and stay away from Nesco but hopefully it won't and I'll be happy for years to come.

Anyone have any experience with shipping repairs to Nesco? The customer service lady said the shipping is what takes longest.

I've been offered a job contingent upon a background check. The check is underway and the company has emailed me to ask for more info about a job I had several years ago. They want me to scan, upload, and then email them documentation showing my start date (who in the world keeps stuff this old around?) Luckily I have some of my old check stubs that I haven't gotten around to shredding (though they don't show my start date) but even if I get lucky and find my old w-2s I don't know anyone with a scanner.

Internet search doesn't turn up any services. I plan on calling the company and asking about maybe faxing it which I could do tomorrow from work. Are there any businesses out there that you can walk in and have them scan something and save it in digital form so I can email it?

I posted about this last week before my interview. I've been offered 1 job contingent upon a background check, physical, etc. ( which I'll pass with flying colors) and this process should take about 2 weeks to complete. The bad thing (bad in a great sort of way) is that I'm interviewing for my 'dream job' tomorrow morning and I have to call the HR lady back to decline or accept the 1st offer about an hour before I even get to interview for the 'dream' position. At this point I don't think it would feel right to stall any longer trying to see what will happen so what do you think:

Is it wrong to go ahead and accept the 1st job offer to get the background check rolling then politely decline if the 'dream job' calls me back within that 2 week time?

I know a lot of people will say do what's best for you, that's what the company will do! If I did get the 'dream' spot I would feel kind of bad about wasting their time and the money it must take to do the background checks.

The past few days have been good and bad (bad in the best way possible!) I'm in nursing school and have been desperate to get out of my CNA job at a nursing home and into a hospital for a while. Now I've gotten two offers within days and I'm not sure what to do!!

Hospital #1. Pros= This is the one I truly want! It's a job on the unit I want to stay on as a nurse upon graduating. CONS = We scheduled this interview last week for NEXT FRIDAY! That was the earliest day she offered otherwise I would have said "let's interview in 5 min" :) I interview well but reality says there's no guarantee I'll get it which is why I set up the 2nd interview today.

Hospital #2. PROS: I hear it's a nice hospital from my classmates. The nurses I've spoken to say the hospital treats them well so staying after graduation would be a plus. CONS= Manager called today and scheduled for TOMORROW! If she offers it to me I'll probably have to make a decision before I even get to interview for the one I really want. Would have tried to push the scheduling out further but didn't want to blow it. If I decline and Hospital #1 falls through I'm out 2 jobs :(

These are just 2 hospitals of many owned by the same company, my biggest concerns:

If I turn down Hospital #2 (if offered) will it put a black mark against my name at all their hospitals?

If she offers it to me should I be honest and tell her I'm waiting for another offer but please keep me in mind? (I know there are tons of CNAs lined up for these positions I would never expect her to wait for me to hear back about the 2nd job)

What to do?

My awesome college instructor helped me win a really nice scholarship recently so I wanted to thank her. What better way than by giving her a gift card to her favorite restaurant The Cheesecake Factory. (or so I thought)

I drove all the way across town to buy it and when I drove ALL the way back home and pulled the card out to look at it it was all scratched up! Not little superficial things either, I had to look at the back to see if the silver part had been scratched off because it seriously looked like someone had already been carrying it around in their pocket for a month with change, keys, and cell phone rubbing against it.

For the record I didn't get to pick out/handle the card at the restaurant, they have them behind the counter. I asked for a card, the lady snatched one out of a box, placed it in the little gift envelope and handed it over. I'd usually check a purchase before leaving but who in the world has ever heard of buying a brand new scratched up gift card?!

After debating I took it back and kindly asked for a replacement which the nice staff agreed to do. But the girl took out all the gift cards and lo and behold EVERY SINGLE ONE was scratched. WTH? She apologized and said it was probably because they keep them loose in a box and they rub against each other. For such a fancy place it seems they've never heard of rubber bands.

I suppose I could go back AGAIN and ask for a refund but who wants to wait 5-7 days to receive a card that might look just as bad. So now I'm stuck giving my instructor a less than perfect card which might seem silly but this scholarship meant a lot to me as did her help in getting it. :(

It seems there are two distinct groups: Those who are ok with their significant other being friends with exes and Those who are definitely NOT ok with it!

I belong to the 2nd group, though I used to be fairly neutral about it b/c I had seen it work with no ill effect (cheating, jealousy) in a relationship before. This last one PERMANENTLY changed my mind though and I've decided this is a make-or-break question for me in the future.

I get so sick of people from the 1st group saying "it's a sign of MATURITY to keep those friendships." "How could you just discard people like they never meant anything?" "Anybody who CAN'T be friends with their ex must be CRAZY!!!!"

I think it's disrespectful to your current bf/gf to be friends with your ex whether they mind it or not. I cut ties with my exes, never to be seen again. Not because I HATE the guy. I know I don't want to date anyone who is ok with it and I wouldn't expect anything less from myself. I ENJOY moving on with my life and using what I've learned. My exes have always wanted to remain friends with me afterward but I don't agree with it.

That is my view on it, what is yours?

How did it make you feel because it annoys the living crap out of me!

An immature girl i used to work with was constantly hopping in and out of relationships, not a single one of them healthy. My friend and i were both single but had been in healthy relationships before and tried to steer her in the right direction or point out how a guy was manipulating her yet again. She would come to me and my friend for advice but never take any of it and you could tell it was partly because we were single so what could we POSSIBLY know about relationships? *rolls eyes*

I always wondered if I went outside and started dating the first bum I ran into would that suddenly make my advice valid? You (hopefully) learn things from every relationship and take it with you even when you're not currently dating anyone it can still be helpful.

Ever had this happen to you?

Never noticed how much the phrase "You just don't understand," irritates me till recently when I noticed a coworker says it a lot. Typical convo:

HER: Blah, blah, blah "Oh I'm so stressed b/c (douchebag) fiance won't help with the kids, constant money troubles, cheating, etc. etc.

ME: *offers helpful alternatives to redefine roles in the household towards equality*

HER: rejects every one and finishes with, "oh you just don't understand."

ME: *barely restrains impulse to light coworker on fire by pyrokinesis*

I want to say WTF?! you don't know me! You have no idea what trials I've been through in life. I don't have to make the same dumba** decisions you've made in life in order to be able to empathize with where you're coming from and give my advice on the situation.

I'm single/no kids so I get this a LOT from chicks who are single mothers, "Oh you wouldn't understand how stressful it is" Umm, yes I would... THAT WAS MY CHILDHOOD! And don't think the kids don't suffer from the stress too. Don't dismiss my words simply b/c I chose to live smarter not harder.

A friend and I work together and our floor is a magnet for women with relationship problems. We get someone new hired on then after a few weeks of girl-talk and getting to know each other you start to get the whole story. The new girl is with some dead-beat guy, they're engaged, she's pregnant or they already have a bunch of kids, he uses her for money, or he's a verbally abusive alcoholic, he refuses to watch the kids if she wants to go out with friends but dumps them on her and leaves on a whim, and the list goes on and ON! She asks "what should I do?"

It's unbelievable what some women will put up with. My friend and I always listen sympathetically, give the girl sound advice, offering ways to get away from the guy, and build up her self esteem. What irritates me is the girl will sometimes get strong enough to leave but a few weeks later she's back to accepting his calls, letting him stay over, etc.

WTF!? it's irritating to see someone make progress and then backslide. Usually I end up throwing my hands up and saying "screw it!" not b/c I don't care; but b/c I get so pissed I want to go over there myself and tear the guys head off. So I have to detach myself.

So does it irritate you guys when someone doesn't take the advice they asked for?

Anyways, I swear I've looked this up on here before and actually found some previous questions about it but I can't seem to find anything now. Google found nothing either.

Where are all the Cancer males hanging out at? I don't go to church and at every other place (grocery store, college campus, bookstore) I find either guys I'm not attracted to or guys who are already there in a couple. I know Cancer guys supposedly like to be around water but it's a little chilly for that.

So what are some other places I haven't thought of where you crabbies like to hide?

When I was younger I was ridiculously shy, never really stood up for myself, would just seethe and think murderous thoughts about someone that had wronged me :D. I was so secretly worried that if I called them out I would end up embarrassed or looking foolish somehow, so I stayed quiet.

I've got a lot of Leo in my natal chart and as I've gotten older (especially recently) I've noticed that FIRE starting to come out... and I LOVE IT! I've noticed myself speaking out more when I feel disrespected and even more so when I feel someone has hurt my friend or loved one. I don't like seeing underdogs being taken advantage of. When I call someone out my Virgo analytical skills allow me to systematically break someone down into little pieces so there is no misunderstanding, "that sh*t doesn't fly around me."

The other signs like to say we're stuck up, harsh-speaking, perfectionists but who else is out there fighting the good fight?

In high school I thought the "mean girls" act would be over once we graduated but I guess some people just cant let it go. I'm a nursing student and have one of these overgrown "mean girls" in my clinical group. I love everyone else and for being a group of women we are surprisingly drama free... except for this one!

This girl has no verbal filter; constantly talking about others in the group behind their back. I have seen her laugh and joke with one of her "close friends" then walk a few FEET away and talk about that "friend" to another "friend." She made fun of one girl and her fiancee when the day before she had complimented them as we were passing his pic around. WTF?!

Once we were standing in the hospital and she LOUDLY (no volume filter either) says some non PC racial joke to me. I was about to say something jokingly back to her when I noticed my pt.'s daughter was standing RIGHT behind the girl just gaping at my classmate like "I can't believe she said that!" I just moved away from the girl and once my pt's daughter had gone back in her mother's room I continued quietly joking with my classmate. But COME ON we are in a professional setting pay attention to whats going on around you!

Do you have to deal with anyone like this?

I started recording my college lectures with my old Samsung Solstice cell phone and now at the end of the semester I want to take them off my phone, convert them to something more friendly (mp3, wav, wmr, etc.), then burn them to a cd i can review in later semesters and over breaks. would also like to amplify them in audacity or something)

Problem is, each lecture recording is 1 hr. long, I've found a few free programs that convert them fine but when I listen to the newly converted files they are ONLY 3-5 min. long! Even if I try playing them in the (horrible) Samsung PC Studio program the phone came with, the built in audio player automatically makes them 3min long. I'd rather have the files forever stored in a format that works with just about anything in case something happens to my phone.

Another classmate also sent everybody the same recordings in .aif which I converted in Audacity but the converted files ended up being an hour long LOOP of the first few seconds of lecture.

I've never had a "best friend" like the ones on tv where you go everywhere together, I was never anybody's first pick in school when the teacher said "split into groups", but as I've gotten older I'm doing much better.

I have trouble letting people get close to me, and sharing my most intimate feelings. As adults there usually isn't a particular moment when you and a new friend "make it official" lol it's just kind of understood after you hang out for a while so I was wondering...

When you guys are getting to know a potential new friend what are some of the things that happen that make you feel closer to that person? (an inside joke, the first time they share a secret with you, showing support, 1st time hanging out outside of work/school?)

I bought my 99 Civic EX a few weeks ago from a dealership. The SRS light was on continuously and had been on for who knows how long since it was a trade-in. The salesman said they didn't know why it was on.

My boyfriend and I took the car to his friend's shop and hooked it up to his diagnostic computer. We couldn't get the car to throw a code so the computer couldn't tell us anything.

Yesterday I took out the dash (carefully) and replaced 1 or 2 of the illumination bulbs that were out behind the fuel and temp gauges. The car was off and the key out while I did this and nothing was forced. Now when I turn the car on the SRS light is the only one that DOESN'T come on at all!

Since then I've checked the fuse (fine), disconnected the battery (nothing changed), and taken the cluster back out to check it again.

Code manuals say if the bulb doesn't come on at all it's a "Faulty SRS Indicator Circuit." But I can't find anything online on how to fix this. Could the SRS led bulb be blown, will I have to buy another cluster, and how could replacing those bulbs mess up the SRS light when it can't even be reached from where the other bulbs are?

...Im not referring to the relationships you have as a teen or in your younger 20's, where youre just learning how to be in a relationship. Im talking about when youre older and moving into settling down territory and youve met someone you COULD marry because you work well together but theres something in your lives that would never make that possible.

Right now im in emotional limbo because my bf and i are great together but we've always known that he'll never leave his hometown and ill move across country for school in a few years. i dream of marriage and kids someday and sometimes i get really down and wonder "Whats the point?" when i could miss out on the guy im meant to be with while dating someone who i know wont take that step with me.

Most guys it seems feel fine just dating for years on end but im not waiting around forever.

Has anyone been through this and did you feel strange about it?

As I said I just bought a used car from a dealership over the weekend (Sat.) I got the car insured online in my name a few hours before going to pay and pick it up and also switched my other car's policy over to get a multi car discount. A few minutes later my local agent called me up, welcomed me to the company, and said he would send someone out to inspect the cars today (Mon.)

Having used cheapo ins. company's before I've never had this happen. I just assume he will be taking photos of the car to have on record what they look like before in case of an accident but I wasn't sure. Also the used car has the SRS (Airbag) light on, came from the dealership like this, Though it's never been in an accident according to official records. I'm going to have it checked this week but will this or a check engine light "count against me" when he's checking out the car.

What all should I expect him to do and about how long does this usually take?
