  • Loud Clunking Noise From Drive Train. Transmission Problem?

1981 Toyota Pickup. Automatic. The noise happened on one occasion about 3 weeks ago, and has not returned since. The truck is running fine now. This has me baffled. I raised the rear wheels and ran through the gears checking the drive shaft, U-joints, and differential. Nothing wrong showed up. The noise happened in cold weather while the engine was still warming up and when slowing to a stop at intersections. It sounded and felt like the bed of the truck was going to fall off from the cab. Could this be a loose torque converter? Any help appreciated.
