Dancer Of Life
What are some dance skills I need to expand to be on Broadway?
I'm mainly a singer (Mezzo-Soprano) who can act pretty well so I'm not really worried about that if I want to be on Broadway. What I'm really worried about is dancing. I AM a dancer and have been for nine years but I've only taken it seriously in the past three years. I have taken little kid ballet and tap for four years, I took jazz for two years, I took hip hop for a year and I am currently in lyrical which is my best style. I also am in my second year of real ballet as a 15 year old. I think I am going to take tap instead of lyrical next year along with ballet because I need to expand my genres. I wish to take jazz as well but I cannot afford more than two classes per a year. I know I should really take acro too but I simply cannot afford it. It's not that I am a bad dancer its just I do not have the money to dance 10 hours a week to improve for Broadway standards. I can do some impressive things like double pirouettes and a la seconde turns (that I am working on and trying to improve) and calypso leaps and I have my right and left split. I cannot do a proper cartwheel though and my acro sucks. What skills should I try to learn on my own (acro and tricks and leaps and turns) to get the dance skill to be on broadway?
1 AnswerDancing6 years agoDance skills needed for Competition team?
I have been a recreational dancer for nine years and I dance ballet, lyrical and contemporary, 4-5 hours a week. I am looking to try out for competition next year and I need some help. My skill level is somewhere between recreational and competition level. My biggest and best skills are tilts (pretty bad ones), a la seconde turns, and I suck, so I can only do a single pirouette consistently, a double on a good day. What are skills and tricks I need to know and know how to do to make it on competition? Because I know I need to know way more than what I already CAN do. Thanks so much!
2 AnswersDancing6 years agoWeight loss tips, motivation and staying healthy tips???
I'm in the beginning stages of getting healthy again after spiraling downwards in September of 2013. Im at my worst weight of 170lbs at 5ft 4inches. I'm 15 years old and wear a medium-large with a medium-large frame on my body. I try to work out 4-5 days a week and not on Mondays or Thurdays cuz I have dance those days. I'm a dancer and I dance around 4-5 hours a week. On a normal workout day, I cycle on a stationary bike for about 20 minutes, then I use the PumpUp app and do a 30 minute workout targeting one certain place on my body a day. I then do a bunch of plies, squats and crunches. I eat relatively healthy, but I tend to eat terribly for a meal about every other day. TIPSSSS????
29 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoCan I fit Brandy Melville clothes???
I am usually a medium sometimes a large, seldom a small, but it happens to me. I am 5'4" and weigh 170lbs. I have a 32-34C chest and I am in the beginning stages of losing weight because my doctor and family think I am overweight, which I know I am. I have a medium to large frame, but not too big. Should I try Brandy now, or should I wait until I'm done losing weight?
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness6 years agoSongs to Sing for The Music Man Audition??
So it's my freshman year at a new high school. I'm totally new and no one who is in the theater department knows me besides one of my new friends who is basically the freshman star singer and lead in all the junior high musicals in that same school. The spring musical is The Music Man and I want to try out, because in my old middle school, I was the star of the music and theater department and the teacher's favourite (not trying to toot my own horn, but it's the truth). I really want to impress the panel/theater department, but I already know that since I'm a freshman and new that I probably won't get a lead, so I'm shooting for at least a secondary character!
I'm a mezzo (basically not an alto, but not a soprano, but I can go alto, if needed) and if you didn't know, The Music Man is kinda upbeat. Any song suggestions???!!! Thanks a bunch!!!!
1 AnswerTheater & Acting7 years agoHow to get him to like me?
So....there is this guy in my church youth group that I like. I've been in youth group for about a year and I recently started opening up and talking more. Before, he would look at me sometimes and talk to me (like small talk) but that's it. Now he's starting to have somewhat, kinda not small talk and now have more of a conversation with me. We've kinda gotten to a joking-around state, I guess.
He's really athletic and sweet and generous and funny and selfless and I've never found someone besides him that has interests as me (he's a runner like me, is religious like me, and likes helping people like me).
The problem is, he goes to a different school than me because we met through church so the only time I can talk to him is on Sundays and the occasional church event. I've tried to get his number, but I haven't found a nonchalant, casual way of doing it. Also, he has a lot of girl friends and I think he's popular at his school but I can't really tell because we go to different ones.
How can I get him to like me and how do I casually ask for his number and also some conversation topics maybe?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agoWhat type of Dance Should I do?
I did Ballet this year. My dance teacher told me I could do pointe next year and I was super excited but that means an extra class so I can't do Ballet AND Pointe because my parents can only afford one class. I don't want to do ballet then anymore because there is no point because it is only a technique class and the ballet class doesn't really...dance, per say.
So I thought I should try Acro (Like tumbling/gymnastics/acrobatics). But that is a technique class too. I feel like I should take the technique classes though so when I'm older I could do other stuff like turns, leaps and tricks in my dancing.
But.....there is contemporary also. I really love it and my sister does it and fell in love with it too. I watched her perform her dance this year and it inspired me.
What should I do????!!!!
