  • Vegan friendly car?

I recently sold my vehicle in Oregon and now have some money to finally buy a new car out here. I'm planning on taking classes next fall hopefully so I need to keep a large amount to the side...for now I just want something for point a-b. I prefer sedans with lots of room. Previous two cars were a 1993 Buick Regal limited which I loved and a 2000 Ford Focus with not so much room haha. I'm only planning on spending 2,000 dollars for now and I might finance something upto 5-6 if I find it to be necessary. Everyone is telling me a honda, subaru, or a kia. So what's vegan friendly? No leather interior ect. I know all vehicles on some levels can't escape some small footprint in animal cruelty, but I'm trying to eliminate the obvious ones.

By the way I apologize if any of you were mislead recently..it appears endive finally recovered from his doppelganger exhaustion and is continuing his disillusioned vendetta against me singling me out as some sort of passive leader. He's whack.

  • Can someone explain to me why this is witty or humorous?

    http://www.snorgtees.com/meatisneat-p-332.html?osC...

for real..maybe for once one of you meat heads can eloquently place some meaning behind something by explaining this ridiculous shirt. Would it be as funny if it were an outline of your sister, father or another family member or friend on there? If not..then why is this?

  • What do you all think would be a good name for a vegan community domain?

I thought I'd poll here as to choosing a dot com name for a vegan website I'm developing. I don't want something to trendy, to fundamental or to active.

Something that's appealing to everyone and won't scare off omnivores. As an example:

You know how it is, many companies that are accidentally vegetarian/vegan don't label their products as such..because many omnivores won't buy a product if they see this - thinking its inferior. so...

In the same mindset I don't want to repel omnivores. I've learned lately that it's never too early to start trying to reach out in a big way and certain interactions recently showed me how much people need to be educated flat out..vegan lifestyle could be of course a healthy start and successful plan for a long life.

As well if anyone has further ideas for this site either post them here, e-mail me or IM them to me. Also if anyone has any programming or design experience, IT experience or hobby experience and wants to help - I'm open to proposals :D

  • Does anyone have any unique content ideas for a vegan website?

In the past weeks I've gone against my own advice a lot.

Unfortunately instead of focusing on new comers here that are reaching out for help I focused anger and spent too much time defending myself and others against people who have no interest in learning about nutrition, diet & our country's inhumane practices.

In fact they'd wish you to believe they are trying to prove you wrong, but instead they are actually only working to reinforce and prove themselves right. One coward in particular who let it be known is originally al_sparagus, then following vegan_soldier, Fundiefckr, endive1976, endive1977, & his most recent manifestation Muscovichslov. Only such a coward would dedicate so much time to follow fantasy vendettas that he instigated & has no true backbone in life to show integral opposition..only defamatory nonsense.

  • Do any of you vegans have diets specially formed for...?

An exercise routine...either cardio and/or strength training?

If so do you notice better results as far as soreness/recovery or lbetter performance since you changed it?

  • What can I do about being aggressively stalked, harassed and agitated by another user?

This started about 3 weeks ago I think, it's been so stressful though I have a hard time remembering exactly. It all started when a guy named al_sparagus started posting in the vegetarian and vegan section. He had no good intentions but to stir up trouble. I guess he identified me as a target in his head early on..he made sure to always answer my questions naively/vindictively. He often answered in parallel to questions I did as well, all the while focusing exclusively on me many times.

He started off with calling my girlfriend who lives with me a terrorist. At the time he didn't know she was my girlfriend. He made questions directed at her and I decided to ask him to stop. He didn't stop, he just shifted to me. Called me a terrorist etc. I tried talking some sense into him - I never outright attacked him with words (that I remember) and was very responsible about the entire situation. He continued for over a week adding me on various yahoo messenger handles and I told him to stop

  • Remember that Mar's candy media controversy?

I remember how big a deal it was for..like 3 days. I remember also reading someone saying something along the lines of "I bet it was just a publicity stunt - to bring awareness to vegetarians that mar's products are vegetarian."

I thought that was sort of extreme, till a few coincidental things happened.

We were shopping at safeway late one night for a few necessary things and I noticed a vegan or two product in there freezer section. It said it was made by "seeds of change." I never had heard of this company before then. Didn't think too much of it other then I thought it was probably a company owned by Safeway and part of there whole organics/health advertising stunt.

Then I was reading a site Katie showed me listing the different parent companies of most the organic/vegan product makers and noticed seeds of change next to mars. That's when I recalled the entire animal rennet controversy.

  • What should I do legally for repeated harassment?

Can I do anything in an on-line situation like this? Endive aka Al_sparagus and Vegan_soldier has cloned my account now. A link to it so not to be confused with me. You can tell it's my post hopefully by default but a trademark is my entire name is lowercase.

He's added me twice on Yahoo and I've made it very clear both times to stop talking to me and I don't want anything more to do with his nonsense. Now he pulls this. Am I subject to this under terms and conditions of this service? As in it comes with the public nature of this forum?

I'm fairly confident he's a 31 year old male named Albert from Pittsburgh that lives on a farm or works at one. This doesn't say or do much, but if anyone can help me out with some advise I'm open for it. IM if you would like as well :)

  • How are people capable of such things?

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/91600?sourc...

Read the above..this is a local news story for me and I can't believe it. Cooking oil?

I'm not going to stereotype and say he did it because he's a meat eater. I will say though for !@#$ sure you'd never see a vegetarian or vegan doing this. Another cruel example of why the world would be better off if everyone were vegans.

Please someone explain this to me! Maybe one of you omniscient omnivores can clue me in to the psychology behind this whack job of an advertisement?

  • How many of you personally endorse endive's actions?

I certainly don't. Please reply to this if you don't and then...

report me please. In your optional report notes section please address to yahoo to overview endive's question and answers as this is getting out of control - I'm willing to lose my handle if I have to keep doing this..we were almost troll free and now we have this jackass.

Tell me Endive, how old are you? What do you do for a living? What sort of education do you have?

I am 22 and yes I've worked at Macdonald's. IT was a job I started in High school because I come from a small town of about 10,000 people and there aren't many opportunities. I wasn't vegetarian or vegan at the time and working there was one of the larger catalysts that prompted me to become what I am today.

I have a CCNA and am A+ certified and had planned to pursue more tech based education, but found I didn't like working the service jobs I did at the time - I found them too redundant, even at 30+ dollars an hour.

  • Did anyone else see this amazing, but sad news article?

Sad to think such a noble animal survived an attack that long ago just to die from the same treatment present day. Amazing nevertheless =)

"The 49-foot male whale died when it was shot with a similar projectile last month, and the older device was found buried beneath its blubber as hunters carved it with a chain saw for harvesting"

"BOSTON - A 50-ton bowhead whale caught off the Alaskan coast last month had a weapon fragment embedded in its neck that showed it survived a similar hunt — more than a century ago.

Embedded deep under its blubber was a 3 1/2-inch arrow-shaped projectile that has given researchers insight into the whale's age, estimated between 115 and 130 years old.

Calculating a whale's age can be difficult, and is usually gauged by amino acids in the eye lenses. It's rare to find one that has lived more than a century, but experts say the oldest were close to 200 years old."

  • What's your favorite quinoa dish?

Looking for some good recipes for quinoa! Yep that's it! =)

On another completely different note..I recently started drinking hemp milk, brand is living harvest.. it blows soy milk out of the water..(so to speak haha) as far as I'm concerned. Each serving also contains 900 mg of omega-3 and 2.8 grams of omega-6! plus lots of other good stuff =) Anyone else use hemp milk regurally or like it?

  • Have many of you read this before?

Learned a lot of new things thought I'd enjoy sharing it with the rest of you - perhaps even some of you omnivores may take the time to educate yourselves a bit from it as well =)

    http://www.vegsource.com/harris/cancer_vegdiet.htm

"Epidemiologically, the intake of animal source food correlates with the country-by-country incidence of six types of cancer. Although none of the reporting countries can be assumed to have large vegan or even vegetarian populations, it appears that the less animal source food per capita, the lower the cancer rate."

"Cancer cell metastasis may be blocked by a plant-based diet. German investigators have shown that vegetarian men have roughly twice the natural killer cell activity as age-matched omnivorous controls (42). "

  • What do your shopping lists typically look like?

and what places do you typically shop at? Given this is in the vnv section I'm interested primarily in veg/vegan replies, but if any of you omnivores can be respectful and serious about a reply you're welcomed too.

Below is what we bought tonite, which is a good example of what we might typically get...of course many things go in and out depending on how lazy we are or what looks good/available at the store.

Will add my list under details =)

    12 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade ago
  • Worst answer idea...?

I'm pretty livid at the moment that in reading tonite after work it seems vegetarians and vegans are the minority even in a section of their own..? I don't have the energy to express all my dissapointments, but this thought crossed my mind.

There is a best answer option, so why not a worst answer option?

For every thumbs down a worst answer received it could receive -1 points plus a -10 by default. I think a penalty hit could be issued too..if a certain person received 5 worst answers in a certain period of time, say a month.. they weren't allowed to answer questions for a period of time, or were reviewed by moderators.or.something.

I know this wouldn't keep away the trolls with so many accounts, but it would keep people who don't belong here, or in other sections from expressing there OPINIONS that don't belong in a question and answer atmosphere UNLESS the question instigated opinions being shared.

this is bout as infantile as white ppl bitchin bout BET. get over it.

  • Vegan Tortillas?

So the last time I made (only time) tortillas was about 7 years ago in a cooking class I had. Did pretty well, but seemed like a lot of work. I would like to know any brands of tortillas that are vegan that anyone has found and where they might have found them...or if there is someone here who has 'experience' making tortillas (not just a recipe pulled from the internet) I'd love their recipe and any tips like if I can freeze homemade tortillas and how long I could expect them to last. Thanks a bunch :) -VC

  • Where can I find a place to buy vegan business shoes?

I'm fairly sure the shoes I have now are fake leather...but I don't know - and at any rate they are pretty worn and showing slight cracks.

I'm in a sales enviroment and would like to have some options for when I want to invest in some new shoes...need to have the shiny black appearance of the typical leather business shoe - it's our standard and I can't change it unfourtanetly.
