  • What equipment do I need to take on a night hike?

I am taking part in a 20mile / 32km night hike in June. First time I have hiked at night. The route is fairly exposed (Ridgeway Path Avebury to Bishopstone along the Marlbrough Downs. I am taking the usual i.e. Map, compass, first aid kit, emergency whistle, etc. Just wondered if there is a definitive list or any suggestions.

  • Fitting a new replacement radio in a xsara picasso 2.0 HDi, 55 plate?

    Hi All

I cannot seem to get an answer to this question. I have a Xsara Picasso 2.0HDi. Although the factory fitted radio is ok I would like to replace it with a newer model with MP3 etc. I have read some people have done this on older models but nothing really about the newer models.

I understand I will not see the radio display on the Dash but I will see that on the radio. What I am unsure of is the fuel, mpg, av spd etc . Will I loose that as well and will the car flip out and refuse to do anything.

Seems such a simple procedure but need to cover all bases before I even start to get my torx drivers warm.

  • Are mates rates a form of tax evasion (UK)?

I was just thinking about this the other day.

Scenario: A roofer needs a boiler fitted and a plumber needs a roof fixing. Each job cost £2000.

The plumber fits the boiler and the roofer fixes the roof. Because each job has the same value no money changes hands.

If a financial transaction occurred then VAT would have been added which would be a total of £700.

The tax and National insurance would be roughly £1200 therefore £1900 has not been paid in tax.

So technically tax has been evaded.
