Insect that looks like a black and yellow firefly?
I was in my garden yesterday and I saw large numbers of an unfamiliar insect copulating on my mint plants. The members of one sex looked rather like black and yellow fireflies, while the members of the other sex had black-and-yellow-striped abdomens. They were only on the mint and nowhere else. I live in the north of the Midwestern United States.
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden7 years agoWhat is normal temperature variation in a closed space?
I have two temperature sensing diodes sealed inside a Dewar with a volume of roughly 5 cubic feet. When I read out the temperatures from both of them, I have seen up to a .74 Kelvin difference between the two readings, which concerns me because this apparatus is to be used in a very sensitive measurement.
My question is, does this temperature difference indicate a problem with my sensors, or is the difference <1K just normal temperature variation? The diodes are not currently secured, so they could be as much as 1.5 ft apart.
I am very new to experimental physics and didn't know where else to ask this, and Google was of little help. If someone could refer me to a better site for this kind of question, I would appreciate it.
2 AnswersPhysics7 years agoWisdom tooth pain again long after operation?
I had two wisdom teeth removed a little over a month ago. The one on the left was more painful and problematic than the other, but it all cleared up very quickly; I could eat solid food the day after. However, since yesterday, the left extraction site has been becoming more painful. It has started swelling again, like it did just after the operation, and I'm having difficulty opening my mouth all the way. I can't think of anything that might have triggered this. What might be the cause?
1 AnswerDental8 years agoWhat does "s'en met plein la gueule" mean?
I'm pretty sure it's idiomatic but I really can't figure out what it means. Also, what would "les fruits nous arrivent en pleine gueule" mean, exactly? Thanks for helping.

I am a little over half-way through and I see no reason for it to be called 'The Great American piece of literature.' If possible, please enlighten me; I am utterly mystified.
