  • Would this be odd? Would this style be weird?

    Hey!

I'm not really one to think a lot about what other people think about me, my music or stuff like that but I was wondering something; Do you think that incorporating the use of the Mouth Trumpet and Operatic Vocalizations into my music would be weird? I like trying different things.

I have a video where I use the Mouth Trumpet:

  • Difference between two types of Falsetto singing? Why is one harder?

    Hi!

I'm wondering why singing Falsetto in an Operatic sense is more easier than singing normally like I would do in chest voice? For example I can sing the Operatic Rendition of Summertime but when I try to sing it in the same key in the more Jazzy style, I can't seem to reach up to the higher notes that I usually would without my voice breaking.

Could age be the reason? I'm 17 (soon to be 18)

    How could I overcome this?

    Thank you!!

  • Will my falsetto get clarer as my voice matures?

    Hi!

I'm training myself as a Countertenor and I have noticed that even though I have been singing in my falsetto register (sometimes I'm suspicious of it being some sort of head voice because of the strength it has) for over a year now, my brother, who is 26 and has no vocal training at all, has a more clear falsetto than I have. Mine sounds more breathy unless I reach into the higher notes (F5-G5)

    Is vocal maturity the reason?

    Thank you!

  • Does the use of chest voice weaken falsetto? PLEASE HELP! =/?

    Hi there!

I want to train as a Countertenor but I also love using my chest voice however on this site "http://www.voiceteacher.com/counter_Tenor.html%22 it says that the full voice tends to weaken the falsetto.

    Is this true? Please help.

    Thank you very much!

  • Can the singing and speaking voice be different?

    Hi!

After a lot of evaluation, experimentation and observation I have come to the fact that my speaking voices tessitura is in the Tenor range however when I sing, I drop into a deep Baritone tessitura/range. People are often like "Whoa! Wow that's deep" Although it's not very very deep (I can sing down to a G2) it's still low for my speaking range which is around f3/g3 up to about c4 or if I'm really surprised or something it could extend up to a d4.

    Is that common?

    Thank you very much!

  • Is this so bad? Why do people judge me on this? Please Help!!?

Well for a long time I've been trying to find my own style in music. So far I haven't come up with anything great, just a few ideas and all.

In the mean time I like singing similar to a guy called Cem Adrian. He has vocal cords three times the normal length which miraculously gives him the ability to sing from Bass to Soprano.

My voice is somewhat similar. My range is from G2 to g5 (ı can sing comfortably in both tessituras) so I can transition like he does from a low voice to a higher one.

I of course don't do such things in my own music in which I compose but I like to use Operatic Vocalizations like he does outside of my own music.

People judge me 'cause they think I'm trying to be him but I'm not and I can't seem to get this through their thick skulls!

It's really frustrating and down putting.

    What should I do?

  • I have a wide range but I cannot use my full range when I sing...?

I have a range of about 3 and a half octaves (G2-d6)... However I can only use 2 and a half octaves (A2-e5)

How can I include that G2 and those 6 high notes into my usable register?

    Thank you!

  • How do you come up with style? Can you please help me?

    Hi!

Well I was wondering how you would come up with your own unique style? I know it's something you find on your own but I don't really know how you would go about discovering it....

I listen to this Turkish singer named Cem (as in the word "gem") Adrian and I really like his style... He has vocal cords three times the average length so he can sing from Bass to Soprano... He generally uses operatic vocalizations in his songs and slides from Bass to Soprano in one song...

I really like that style but although I have a wide range that would allow me to encompass a Baritone, Tenor and Alto range, I don't want to be "just like him"... I'd like something unique...

I get criticized by people who know me because they say I sound like him... It gets me down because I'm not Cem Adrian and I don't want to be like him... I want my musical style to reflect me, not him.

One of the biggest examples is Mariah Carey.... She says that she was influenced by Minnie Ripperton in using her Whistle Register but I've never heard of her getting criticized by people who say that she sounds like Minnie when she sings in her Whistle... She's found her own style while using Whistle...

    Could you please help me?

    Thank you!

  • Can you please translate this Italian text?

    Lucidissima face,

    di Tessaglia le note,

    non sturbino i tuoi giri,

    e la tua pace.

    Da gl'Atlantici monti,

    tra boccando le rote,

    Febo, dal caro ardente,

    omai, omai tramonti.

    Il mio lume nascente,

    Illuminando il cielo,

più bello a me si mostri,

    e risplendente.

    Astro mio vago, e caro,

    a' tuoi raggi di gelo,

    nel petto amante a nutrir

    fiamme imparo, imparo.

    Thanks!!

  • What do you think about this? Comments please... I don't think it's normal...?

    Hi!

My music teacher told me that I had a very unique voice and that it was rare... She told me that I could sing within the Baritone, Tenor and Alto registers...

Do you think that this is normal?

    Thanks!

    4 AnswersSinging10 years ago
  • Is this normal? I think it's weird, what about you?

    Hi!

I just checked my Range Diary (it's something I use to keep track on my range as it changes) and according to it I have lost 4 notes in my lower range...

6 Months ago I was a Bass... I could sing down to a C2 then my range changed and I became a Baritone (I could sing down to an F2) and now, I'm slowly becoming a Tenor...

I find this weird although I'm still just seventeen years old... I thought my voice should go from high to low but it's actually going from low to high...

Why do you think this is happening?

    Thanks!

  • Am I a Tenor? Really ironic.... Please help?

I have answered a lot of questions on other peoples vocal types, however ironically, I can't figure out my own voice type...

Well taking middle c as C4, my vocal range encompasses 3 octaves and 7 notes (it changes a lot though, sometimes I can go that one note lower and have 4 octaves) from F2 to E6...

The range which I can sing in chest voice is from A2 to a3

If we add head voice than that upper limit extends up to f4

The other notes are just sounds I can produce...

I know that timbre is a big factor in determining vocal types, but roughly speaking, would I be a Tenor or Baritone?

My music teacher calls me a Tenor...

    I'm seventeen by the way

    Thanks!
