  • Basic chemistry help!?

    CaCO3(s) → CaO(s) + CO2(g)

If 10.0 g of CaCO3(s) is heated, 5.61 grams of solid CaO will remain (4.39 g CO2 gas is driven off)

    a) If 3.25 g of NaCl(s), which does not undergo decomposition, is mixed with 5.30 g of CaCO3(s) and the mixture is heated long enough to decompose all of the calcium carbonate, how many grams of solid will remain?

    b) An unknown mixture of NaCl and CaCO3 with a mass of 15.2 g is heated until all of the calcium carbonate decomposes. If 9.50 g of solid remain after heating, how many grams of calcium carbonate were in the original mixture?

Can someone help me set up the problems? I have no idea where to start!

    Thank you so much!

  • Double flat notation help?

Can someone explain this to me or tell me what's going on in the image below?

I'm confused with their explanation. Thanks

There is a rarely used symbol that combines the natural symbol and flat symbol.

There is no specific name for this, but the natural symbol would be found in a measure with a double flat to raise the pitch of the indicated note by a half step (one semitone).

The natural symbol cancels the first flat symbol of the double flat shown on the previous note in the measure and and the flat symbol indicates the pitch would only be lowered by a half step (one semitone).

In the examples below, the notation on the left is the preferred notation since it indicates the same pitches and is easier for the performer to read.

  • Will a small or big laptop last longer?

I plan on doing some heavy internet browsing and possibly playing games on my laptop, I understand this is more for the work of a desktop but I have no room for it at the moment, will a smaller or bigger laptop have a better life expectancy?

tl;dr --> I am considering a 15" and 18" laptop. Which would be more durable and withstand a heavy work load in the long run?

  • Getting into UCLA (or any UC school)?

So I must admit, my first two years of high school was crummy, straight C's in all my honors classes.

Now I read somewhere that if I retake those C's and get a higher score, they wont accept it when factoring my gpa!

    How true is this?

Would it be a waste to even try summer and online school to get A's in those courses? It'd be a shame to waste all that money and find out that it was all in vain.

I understand they look at other redeeming qualities as well, which I am loaded in, but I'm more worried about my GPA to even get looked at in admission!

If you're not sure, I cant seem to find an e-mail address to someone in admissions to ask.

So I'm trying to find out how to get the "microphone boost" option working.

I am using a clip on microphone for the violin and according to the instructions of this program I have to use, and it claims that my microphone boost is off and it should be on. Using the help guide the program gave me, I can not find it.

Here are screen shots of the "properties" of the microphone being used.

  • Building a paper bridge help!?

So how would the best way to be doing this?

The highest point of the bridge must be the flatbed, so no suspensions of any kind allowed.

Also, layers greater then 5 is not allowed.

So I was thinking something as the "legs" would be boxes that have cross supports with folded paper (like folding paper fan), but what would really conteract the weight being applied at the middle of the bridge?

I a summed if this is the bridge __________

Then something going / and \ across the bottom as supports would be ideal, but how would you go on with that?

Any input and help would be wonderful.

    Thanks.

  • Stomach issues?

This morning I ate some food, then about three hours later I had very violent stomach aches to the point I couldn't move.

After about five minutes I couldn't help but throw up then my stomach calmed down. After 30 seconds of calmness the ache flared up again and calmed down, this persisted for a good 30-45minutes. Now 5 hours later I still have slight stomach discomfort.

This is the 2nd time this issue has happened and the 1st time was a little over a month.

Highly unlikely that this is a result of food simply because I eat the same things daily.

I do plan on asking the doctor my next check up, but they always say nothing is wrong when I mention some type of stomach issue as in the mornings I used to have horrible aches after eating and drinking water.

Oh, and the idea of it being a peptic ulcer would be unlikely since I have been checked before for them.
