Cold air filters and Vortex air generators ?? do they work.......?
I see these advertised, a little round unit with these fins you put in the air intake pipe of the air filter and was wondering if anyone know anything about these. They claim to increase air flow by creating a vortex and thus increasing mileage and horse power. Also does a cold air filter hooked to a stock motor give any noticeable gain in power/fuel economy? It's for a 2.0 DOHC CR-V
Maintenance & Repairs1 decade agoI Need to take the battery out of Honda CR-V but don't have code to anti-theft radio, what are my options....
I need to take the battery and shelf it sits on out to access one of 2 bolts in order to remove an upper control arm. Can I hook a set of booster cables from a spare battery to the battery cable terminals in car before remove it from car? I'm thinking this way power supply would not be interupted to radio, I would make sure the cables do not contact each other while doing this. My concern is would having 2 batteries hooked up to my vehicle momentarly cause a problem to any of the electrics because there would be too much voltage. I would of course have ignition off and key out.
thanks for any advice.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWondering how it is that my honda CR-V and my last Nissan had a drain plug in auto tranny for fluid changes...
but no filter to replace. My Nissan was 20 years old with 225,000km and I changed fluid yearly since it was so easy and never had problems. Now I see the honda is the same. With the Nissan the dealer told me the filter was a permanent one inside the tranny. I plan to replace the fluid in the honda yearly (3 litre) since it is just a matter of draining and re-rilling with no pan, gasket or filter to deal with........any comments?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoIf replacing the timing belt on 2000 Honda CRV w/120,000km do I need to replace water pump as well?
How about the tensioner? Are replacing these items overkill at this mileage. I drive 12,000km a year and vehicle is well cared for.
12 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoBought a 2000 Honda CRV w/109,000km, I've put 1,500km and now find out it needs a front upper control arm.
I'm very happy with this vehicle, I take good care of my cars and keep them a long time, is the CR-V's suspension high maintenance/problematic? Anything else I need to be warned about?
