  • Who will win the Emmy 4 Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series?

    The nominees are...

    Adam Driver "Girls"

    Jesse Tyler Ferguson "Modern Family"

    Ed O'Neill "Modern Family"

    Ty Burrell "Modern Family"

    Bill Hader "Saturday Night Live"

    Tony Hale "Veep"

I don't have cable or satellite TV, so when I read magazines that talk about TV on such programming, I'm starting to resent such TV snobs while I'm stuck w/ "Mr. Box Office" & reruns of "That '70s Show." 1st of all, it's too bad last year's winners don't get a free nomination lest Jon Cryer would b on this list. As a regular viewer of "Two & a Half Men" (but not much of a fan), Cryer didn't have much work 2 begin w/, so I c the answer 2 y he ain't picked this year. "Modern Family" has a 50% or 3-for-6 shot. I've seen the sitcom; I like it a little but not enough to watch it regularly. I'd cheer on Ed; he deserves it. I won't cheer on lame duck Bill Hader. SNL's regular skit "The Californians" represents the caliber of its humour all season - making funny faces & voices. 2 me, Lena Dunham is likelier to win while representing "Girls" than Driver.

So what do u think? Any "Veep" or "Girls" fans? Is Hader's Stefon a Emmy-worthy per4mance? Which if the 3 guys from "Modern Family" is the most deserving while one of the other 3 actors will get the award? The 65th Emmys take place September 22 on CBS.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Best Picture?

    The nominees are...

    Amour

    Argo

    Beasts of the Southern Wild

    Django Unchained

    Les Miserables

    Life of Pi

    Lincoln

    Silver Linings Playbook

    Zero Dark Thirty

If the number of nominees remained at five like it used to, I'd estimate the films snubbed would be "Beasts of the Southern Wild," "Life of Pi," & "Amour"; that 1st film would definitely be the weakest link. Right now I am examining the nominees. "Life of Pi" was a feast for the senses. "Les Miz" hopes to repeat the success from recent musicals like "Chicago" & "Dreamgirls." "Les Miz," "Lincoln" & "Silver Linings Playbook" had fantastic casts. & "Argo" & "Lincoln" have collected many awards in the weeks prior to these Oscars. So, to answer this question, the Academy Award goes 2..."Argo." ("Lincoln" would be my 2nd choice.) I think if it gets the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, it'll get the piece de resistance. But no film's won Best Picture w/o winnin' Best Director. So that might not bode well for "Argo," meaning "Lincoln," or even "Beasts of the Southern Wild" could win. I'm sure I'll see "Argo" or "Lincoln" in Netflix whenever possible. So w/ this my last Oscar/Razzie question, I thank yall for answering 'em all & hope u turn out in droves for this 1.

So who will win? Who should win? Who's pullin' 4 "Beasts of the Southern Wild"? Presumably, who saw it? The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Razzie 4 Worst Picture?

    Here are the nominees:

    Battleship

Oogieloves In the Big Balloon Adventure

    That's My Boy!

    A Thousand Words

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

It would be nice to give the award 2 anything involving "Oogieloves," but you can bet the anti-Twilight bloc is still eager to see the saga's swan song win, saying pretty much that "Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure" is a better film because it didn't get the Razzie like TS:BR2 did. @ this point, I gotta assume the Razzies have another agenda (regarding "Twilight") & set aside seeking the year's worst films. A "2012's Worst" list from Maxim didn't have a Razzie-nominated movie. & there's only one film in the IMDb Bottom 100, called "Keith Lemon: The Film." That means last year wasn't such a dreary year 4 cinema, & while movies like "A Thousand Words" or "Battleship" do truly suck, there are still over a hundred worse movies. But then again, let's w8 a few more weeks or months 4 any of these Razzie-nominated films to sink to the Bottom 100 w/ each new votes from IMDb members. Now, reviewing the nominees, all movies have every reason 2 b recognized by the Razzies. Adam Sandler & Eddie Murphy are still making crappy films. "Oogieloves" sounds remarkably stupid. 1 movie's adapted from a board game. & of course, a plurality of moviegoers cannot stand "Twilight." Personally, I would select "Battleship," because when I 1st learned they'd make a movie out of it, failure was not its option, but its destiny. "Oogieloves," in spite of the asinine name, doesn't quite deserve the Razzie alongside the alternatives, & we'll w8 & c if it picks up enough negative notoriety to be in the IMDb Bottom 100. Murphy & Sandler will still make bad movies. (Does this mean they've stopped making good films?) I'm even sure they'll win a Razzie Lifetime Achievement Award for such long filmographies of dung. But this is the last chance to throw putrid produce @ the cinematic version of Stephanie Meyer's creation. C'mon. U no u want 2.

So 2 conclude, which film will get the Raspberry? Which movie SHOULD get it? Y was Keith Lemon spared the Razzie-related embarrassment? Any movie from last year you'd like to mention that disgusted you? The 33rd Raspberries take place February 23 on...oh it's not televised. Is it broadcast online perhaps?

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Actress In a Leading Role?

    The nominees are...

    Jessica Chastain "Zero Dark Thirty"

    Jennifer Lawrence "Silver Linings Playbook"

    Emmanuelle Riva "Amour"

Quvenzhané Wallis "Beasts of the Southern Wild"

    Naomi Watts "The Impossible"

I certainly liked Lawrence's smack exchange 2 her competitors on "Saturday Night Live." & that appearance on the show's just one way the beautiful young lady's stayed ubiquitous in today's spotlight. But not 2 shy away is Chastain; I think she was on the cover of the UK version of GQ. Both women have amped up their fame from the previous time Lawrence & Chastain were nominated: for "Winter's Bone" & "The Help," respectively. Yes, "Silver Linings Playbook"'s vying for a lotta Oscars, but if it walks away w/ just one, Jennifer will do so. Of course that could be the hype talking (likely due to "The Hunger Games"). If so, then don't give it to Jennifer or Jessica but Emmanuelle instead. Quvenzhané meanwhile's the latest of female tweeners w/ Oscar nominations, accompanying Tatum O'Neal, Jodie Foster, Kirsten Dunst, Abigail Breslin, Saorise Ronan, & Anna Paquin. & Naomi? Well, thanks 4 playin'.

So who do you like? Is it really to choose between Jessica or Jennifer? (corny question ahead) will Watts do "The impossible? The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Razzie 4 Worst Actress?

    Here are the nominees:

Katherine Heigl "One for the Money"

Milla Jovovich "Resident Evil 5: Retribution"

Tyler Perry (in drag) "Madea's Witless Protection"

Kristen Stewart "Snow White & the Huntsman," "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2"

    Barbra Streisand "Guilt Trip"

B4 u say KS FTW, I just gotta acknowledge these other thespians for their cinematic follies. Regarding Babs, it sounds morbid, but I'd prefer it if we came 2 praise some actresses & than bury 'em. That way we'd respect them when they're deceased as opposed to still living long enough to make ridiculous films. Ergo, Jane Fonda in "Monster-In-Law" or Babs in "Guilt Trip." Nothing's wrong w/ having more respect 4 "Amour"'s Emmanuelle Riva than Streisand. Heigl is likely a consistently bad actress w/ this nomination, but movin' on. Jovovich? Placeholder. Sorry, Kristen. You shall guide "Twilight" a unprecedented Razzie sweep on its last hurrah. So please don't screw up the film adaptation of "On the Road" & let only your topless scene be the one thing good about it now, babe?

So who gets the Raspberry? Anything critical u wanna say about Heigl or Jovovich? Does "Twilight" deserve every Razzie on its last chance despite "That's My Boy"? The 33rd Raspberries take place February 23.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Short Film (Animated)?

    The nominees are...

    "Adam & Dog" Minkyu Lee

    "Fresh Guacamole" PES

"Head Over Heels" Timothy Reckart & Fodhla Cronin O'Reilly

"Maggie Simpson in 'The Longest Daycare'" David Silverman

    "Paperman" John Kahrs

Now 4tunately I got 2 c these cartoon shorts from start 2 Finnish on YouTube! Well, 3 of 'em; there were trailers for "The Longest Daycare" & "Paperman." But perhaps yall saw 'em...if you watched "Ice Age: Continental Drift" or "Wreck-It Ralph." & their4 it can't b 2 hard 2 watch the other 3 cartoons. In fact, "Fresh Guacamole" was only under 4 mins long & thus got over seven million hits. In other words, this Oscar-nominated cartoon was only as long as any video of some doofus rapping about the latest trends. (I guess rapping's EZr than rockin'. Is it inconvenient 2 get the bros in the garage & rock out Velvet Revolver style 2 a song about wooing a Kardashian?) But back 2 the animated shorts; the filmmakers totally get their audiences so I'm incredibly pleased they showed the whole movies on YouTube. & "Adam & Dog" & "Head Over Heels" just premiered on YouTube yesterday! Whatcha w8n' 4? OK, thyme 2 review: "Adam & Dog" was a very sweet story taking the legendary couple from Genesis (& I don't mean the Phil Collins band) & put a dog in it. So this should tug @ the heartstrings for fans of Charlie Brown & Snoopy or "Red & Rover," (which sucks, IMHO, as it c8rs 2 the elderly Baby Boomers). Sorry! No more rants & numerals from now on. Ahem. "Adam & Dog" had beautiful graphics. & of course in typical indie, film-festival fashion, no dialogue was the best dialogue. (There ain't dialogue in any of these cartoons, although I can't see that Simpson cartoon so you guys may wanna inform me if Marge says so much as "Bye!" to Maggie.) "Fresh Guacamole" also has the arty look of using sports equipment & board game pieces. Since this cartoon doesn't tell a story, it's more like a art exhibit. This is the winner. & "Head Over Heels," like "Adam & Dog," also uses the minimum of two protagonists & one "upside-down" quirk to tell the speechless story. I wish I could see that Simpsons short but I'm skeptical if it wins. Besides, me & my sibs haven't regularly watched "The Simpsons" since the 90s; we have little knowledge of any 00s/10s Simpsons. & from the "Paperman" trailer, I consider the story incredibly charming. It's perhaps as good a love story that involved paper as Pam & Jim Halpert.

So which cartoon do you like? Which cartoon tells the best story? Did u c "Fresh Guacamole" on YouTube like the other 7 million? Again, "Head Over Heels" & "Adam & Dog" have just premiered on YouTube so I strongly suggest you c these wonderful films. & the 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Music (Original Song)?

    The nominees are...

    "Before My Time" (Chasing Ice)

music & lyric by J. Ralph

performed by Scarlett Johansson & Joshua Bell

"Everybody Needs a Best Friend" (Ted)

    music by Walter Murphy

    lyric by Seth MacFarlane

    performed by Norah Jones

    "Pi's Lullaby" (Life of Pi)

    music by Mychael Danna

    lyric by Bombay Jayashri

    "Skyfall" (Skyfall)

music & lyric by Adele Adkins & Paul Epworth

    performed by Adele

    "Suddenly" (Les Misérables)

    music by Claude-Michel Schönberg

lyric by Herbert Kretzmer & Alain Boubil

    performed by Hugh Jackman

Like usual, I visited YouTube 2 listen 2 each song. I'm sure the song from "Ted" has the MC's vote. Considering that "Ted" was made by that "Family Guy" guy, I assumed something as raunchy as past nominee "Blame Canada," from another insult cartoon. But I'd forgotten about "Family Guy"'s big band score, so I fully admire Seth's sophistication. Norah Jones nails it even if Michael Buble could've EZLy done the same. & listening to it made me assume this will do nicely w/ Randy Newman absent. Scarlett & violinist Joshua Bell performed splendidly, as did...uh, whoever sang "Pi's Lullaby." & of course hearing a "Les Miz" song was sweet. But this Oscar's going to Adele for "Skyfall." I might be biased 'cause I ♥ listening 2 Adele. But her vocals & the grandeur & mystique of a Bond song intertwined magically. I was somewhat bored by "Suddenly," but it doesn't have 2 b the hyperactive juvenile in me to say that. I've never seen "Les Misérables," so I don't know the songs. & I just learned "I Dreamed a Dream," that song that made Susan Boyle a star, is from the popular musical. So I'm assuming "Suddenly" is a completely new song just so it could get this nomination. But while I ain't assuming "Les Miz" fans hate the new song or just sorta like it, they still prefer it when Jackman, Hathaway, Crowe, etc. do the classics.

So which song will win? You "Family Guy" fans enjoy "Everybody Needs a Best Friend"? The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Actress In a Supporting Role?

    The nominees are...

    Amy Adams "The Master"

    Sally Field "Lincoln"

    Anne Hathaway "Les Misérables"

    Helen Hunt "The Sessions"

    Jacki Weaver "Silver Linings Playbook"

As I type this, I'm watching the end of a movie w/ Sam Worthington & Mia Wasikowska. Don't get excited; it's dubbed in Spanish & "Rogue" is about a killa crocodile. B4 they were stars but I digress. No doubt about it; Field is a fantastic actress & can win. Hathaway is my 2nd choice, although I ain't quite sure if nailing a role in a musical is the key. Pardon my skepticism as a youthful cinephile; musicals were more prevalent in decades past & "Les Miz" has 2 clean up those Oscars like "Chicago" did. (Is that how Zeta-Jones won?) Time Magazine & Entertainment Weekly said nice things about Oscar & Emmy winner Hunt 4 "The Sessions"; I like to read those magazines thus that's how I learn what critics like. & you Answerers gotta fill me in on Weaver & Adams even if their shots @ winnin' is comparable 2 the Timberwolves or 76ers winning the NBA Finals.

So who do you like? Who says Field's over8d but will still win? The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Animated Feature Film?

    Here are the nominees:

"Brave" Mark Andrews & Brenda Chapman

    "Frankenweenie" Tim Burton

"Paranorman" Sam Fell & Chris Butler

"The Pirates! Band of Misfits" Peter Lord

    "Wreck-It Ralph" Rich Moore

I checked 2 c if there are any Dreamworks cartoons nominated & there aren't. I guess the latest sequel of "Madagascar" or "Ice Age" was from 2011. Or if they were from last year, I guess they weren't good enough 2 b nomin8d. As a matter of fact, Disney has a 3-in-5 chance of winning. U kids seen "The Pirates! Band of Misfits"? Answer & chime in even if u preferred "Frankenweenie."

So which cartoon needs this Oscar? Does a stop-motion film get the Oscar? You Tim Burton fans want his remake of his own cartoon to win? The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Writing (Original Screenplay)?

    The nominees are...

    "Amour" written by Michael Haneke

"Django Unchained" written by Quentin Tarantino

    "Flight" written by John Gatins

"Moonrise Kingdom" written by Wes Anderson & Roman Coppola

"Zero Dark Thirty" written by Mark Boal

I'd sure like to hear from the "Moonrise Kingdom" fans who were impressed w/ the script, even though the movie is a underdog to..."Zero Dark Thirty." (& this is just me, by the way) Tarantino did get an Oscar for "Inglorious Basterds," but I ain't sure if "Django Unchained" could give him another, so you fans may need 2 reply. "Amour" is a critical darling, but I think the 2 actors are likelier than the screenwriter to win. "Flight" oughta b happy 2 b nomin8d. A film about a pilot who successfully lands a plane while wasted & fights his inner demons? Impressive! I think I said the same thing about Denzel being nominated even though Daniel-Day or Hugh will win.

So which script did you like? Will a writing win for 0D30 make up for a directing snub? Will QT get another writing win? The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Documentary Short Subject?

    Here are the nominees:

"Inocente" Sean Fine & Andrea Nix Fine

"Kings Point" Sari Gilman & Jedd Wider

"Mondays at Racine" Cynthia Wade & Robin Honan

"Open Heart" Kief Davidson & Cori Shepherd Stern

"Redemption" Jon Alpert & Matthew O'Neill

The topics among these shorts include cancer, homelessness, child mortality, the elderly, & art. "Redemption" looked interesting to me as it was about recycling & how it's the vital economy for some derelicts in Oakland. I'd like that to win. Incidentally, as a bonus question, is it possible to view documentaries, short or long, on Hulu or Netflix? I've been watching the trailers on YouTube.

So who's seen one of these documentary shorts? The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Writing (Adapted Screenplay)?

    The nominees are...

    "Argo" screenplay by Chris Terrio

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" screenplay by Lucy Alibar & Benh Zeitlin

"Life of Pi" screenplay by David Magee

    "Lincoln" screenplay by Tony Kushner

"Silver Linings Playbook" screenplay by David O. Russell

I'm sure some of u have read "Life of Pi." In fact I read in Entertainment Weekly that Ang Lee almost didn't complete the movie because it was difficult to have the SFX meet the accuracy of the original book...or something like that. You fans may wanna praise screenwriter David Magee. But if you're going 2 choose a winner, pick "Argo" or "Lincoln." Again, there's a high degree of difficulty in making a biographical film historically loyal (I'm alluding to the latter). But regarding "Argo," the notion of using a fake film to save hostages, well, you don't witness stuff like that everyday when it comes to screenwriting (but that's just me).

So, what's your take? Who was impressed by "Beasts of the Southern Wild"? Have you read "Life of Pi" yet still think "Lincoln" or "Argo" shall win? The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Visual Effects?

    Here are the nominees:

    "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"

Joe Letteri, Eric Saindon, David Clayton & R. Christopher White

    "Life of Pi"

Bill Westenhofer, Guillaume Rocheron, Erik-Jan De Boer & Donald R. Elliott

    "Marvel's The Avengers"

Janek Sirrs, Jeff White, Guy Williams & Dan Sudick

    "Prometheus"

Richard Stammers, Trevor Wood, Charley Henley & Martin Hill

    "Snow White & the Huntsman"

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, Philip Brennan, Neil Corbould & Michael Dawson

& this is where the blockbusters represent, including the top-grossing film of 2012. Oddly enough, "Life of Pi" & "The Hobbit" are the only movies w/ multiple nominations. 2 me, this indicates those films take the sensory aesthetics to the next level & might be likelier to win. So considering "The Avengers," I ain't sure how innovative its eye candy is from last year's winner or from unnominated films last summer like "The Amazing Spider-Man" or "Men In Black III." & w/ all the other accolades "The Avengers" has gotten, winning this Academy Award would be like scoring an empty net goal. But I won't be shocked if more than one Answerer believes "The Avengers" will win.

So which film did you like? Was the eye candy from "The Hobbit" or "Life of Pi" better than "The Avengers"? The 85th Academy Awards take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Production Design?

    The nominees are...

    "Anna Karenina"

    production design: Sarah Greenwood

    set decoration: Katie Spencer

    "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"

    production design: Dan Hennah

set decoration: Ra Vincent & Simon Bright

    "Les Misérables"

    production design: Eve Stewart

    set decoration: Anna Lynch-Robinson

    "Life of Pi"

    production design: David Gropman

    set decoration: Anna Pinnock

    "Lincoln"

    production design: Rick Carter

    set design: Jim Erickson

Again, as a MSTie, I don't appreciate what good set decoration is till I c what bad set decoration is. Case in point: "Hamlet." To stay on topic, I don't mean a Oscar-nominated version like the Kenneth Branagh one. I mean the one on MST3K w/ a set that devoid of bric-a-brac & plants & looked so incomplete you'd think it was filmed in a hangar or storage locker. That's what award-nominated set decoration doesn't look like. So w/ the choices @ hand, let's break it down. Should the winner have historic appeal like "Lincoln," "Les Misérables," or "Anna Karenina"? Or a extravagant fantasy look like "Life of Pi" or "The Hobbit"? I'd place my bet on..."Les Misérables." This is just a first guess; if only I'd seen all the movies 'cause I'm assuming they're all good & I surely could use your input. Although I might eliminate "Anna Karenina"; I don't think it'll win any Oscars.

So what do y'all think? Will a historic or fantasy look get the Oscar? & specifically which film? Will "Lincoln" maintain the sweep? The 85th Academy Awards take place February 24 on ABC.

"Hitchcock" Howard Berger, Peter Montagna, & Martin Samuel

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" Peter Swords King, Rick Findlater, & Tami Lane

"Les Misérables" Lisa Westcott & Julie Dartnell

Nice to see that "The Hobbit"'s represented here. If it can't get this Oscar, it's got a couple more nominations. Maybe "Les Miz" is worthy for this one, although I doubt it can be possible to win it if it also collects multiple Oscars. The 85th Academy Awards take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Documentary Feature?

    The nominees are...

"5 Broken Cameras" Emad Burnat & Guy Davidi

"The Gatekeepers" Dror Moreh, Philippa Kowarsky & Estelle Fialon

"How to Survive a Plague" David France & Howard Gertler

"The Invisible War" Kirby Dick & Amy Zierling

"Searching for Sugar Man" Malik Bendjelloul & Simon Chinn

Since this question's about documentaries & not actresses, this should separate the film aficionados from those tweeting about those actresses' dresses. Pretty much giving up on finding whole short films on YouTube, I've settled for the trailers, & thus I'm doing the same for documentary features. From the trailers, the topics for "5 Broken Cameras" & "The Gatekeepers" are the Israel/Palestinian conflict. & the topics for "The Invisible War" & "How to Survive a Plague" are respectively rape in the military & AIDS awareness. Finally, you may have heard of "Searching for Sugar Man," which will presumably be the winner. It's about Sixto Rodriguez, a musician who was unknown in the States but so renowned in South Africa that he allegedly committed suicide. Incidentally I think Rodriguez was mentioned in Time Magazine. If I consider the topics to determine my prediction, I'd still pick the Sixto documentary. It sounds like a compelling story.

So what do yall think? Who saw what documentary? I suggest to go to YouTube like I have to view the trailers to take your pick. The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Film Editing?

    "Argo" William Goldenberg

    "Life of Pi" Tim Squyres

    "Lincoln" Michael Kahn

"Silver Linings Playbook" Jay Cassidy & Crispin Struthers

"Zero Dark Thirty" Dylan Tichenor & William Goldenberg

On a side note, I'm watching on YouTube "MST3K: Red Zone Cuba." I mention this because a Coleman Francis film is THE example of how NOT to edit a movie. With that, I'm looking at each nominee & thinking about the stories & how each director & editor handled & tweaked their material to shape it in their desired images. I probably will strike out "Silver Linings Playbook" as the weakest link. Right now, it's taken me a minute to decide, but I am typing in..."Argo." The 85th Oscars take place February 24 on ABC.

  • Who will win the Academy Award 4 Actor in a Leading Role?

    The nominees are...

    Bradley Cooper "Silver Linings Playbook"

    Daniel Day-Lewis "Lincoln"

    Hugh Jackman "Les Misérables"

    Joaquin Phoenix "The Master"

    Denzel Washington "Flight"

B4 my analysis, I tried to extend the expiration on my major question of Best Director. But since I'm on a Wii U rather than a computer, the screen was so small I accidentally put the question to vote. Thus, thank you to the 6 Answerers who participated; by my present standards, six is a lot. I couldn't identity the name of the Answerer who asked for my Oscar pix 4 the Actor/Actress categories (who I voted for Best Answer. So for Supporting Actor, I chose Tommy Lee Jones (Lincoln). I hope that question's still open. Of course, C'ing how many pre-Oscar awards "Argo"'s getting, I could think Alan Arkin may be better. I'll pick for Lead Actress Jennifer Lawrence (or Quvenzhané Wallis) & for Supporting Actress Helen Hunt. Aisle ask those questions L8r. & who'll win Lead Actor? Keep reading, y'all.

I read the latest Entertainment Weekly for further study. Looks to me Ben Affleck's less miffed over being ignored for this category then for Directing. So is Day-Lewis in the clear? Seems like it. Granite, Washington's impressive; if I remember he's the most nominated African-American actor in the Academy. & the tale of a pilot who successfully lands a plane while under the influence is compelling & takes a damn good thespian such as Denzel to pull it off. I saw the Hugh Jackman interview on "60 Minutes." Interesting that he sang his numbers on the set in lieu of the recording booth beforehand. But everyone did in "Les Miz," & that's not enhancing my preference to Jackman (or even Anne Hathaway, but more on that later). The numerous nominations for SLP has made a rookie nominee out of Cooper. Considering how popular the film is, I assume most people can compare him as a nominee w/ all the others but Phoenix. Is he better than Day-Lewis? Heck, is Bradley better then Denzel or Hugh? Yall tell me, assuming u saw all or some of the movies. If Cooper's the best, I predict "Silver Linings Playbook" will win a multiple of Oscars (which can also be just a couple). By those circumstances, Cooper will win one of those Academy Awards. But my bottom line is Daniel will likely win, even if "Lincoln" won't win multiple Oscars.

So what's your take? You guys got positive opinions on "The Master" & Joaquin Phoenix? Who'll choose a underdog like Denzel, Bradley or Hugh? The 85th Oscars take place on February 24 on ABC.

4 every Steven Spielberg, Frank Capra, Martin Scorsese, or J.J. Abrams, there's an Ed Wood, Coleman Francis, Robert Lippert, or modern-day scourge Uwe Boll. Call me a brand new MSTie as I've now watched on DVD & YouTube numerous eps of "Mystery Science Theater 3000." Perhaps if we subjected a suspected al-Qaeda member to a Lippert marathon, he woulda exclaimed "HE'S IN ABBOTTABAD! PLEASE ALLAH TURN IT OFF!!" a tad sooner. That would also be a peculiar version of "Zero Dark Thirty" but I digress. But for 2012 so far, the sight of these nominees' names don't make me cringe like I 8 a lemon; granite, Tyler Perry stands out but only 'cause he's now made too damn many substandard films. So just as I'm placing most of my Oscar bets on "Argo" (although I think "Lincoln"'s Day-Lewis will still win), I'll hand out the putrid produce for y'all to throw @ Prime Suspect, Bill Condon, & his abomination, nee "Breaking Dawn, Electric Boogaloo."

So who thinks that if a "Twilight" marathon was used by the US, France, NATO & the UN, "The Amazing Race" would pass through Timbuktu? Who survived the "Atlas Shrugged" sequel, & insists that's worse than "Breaking Dawn Part II" or "That's My Boy!" Or who just thinks Peter Berg could've done better w/ "Battleship"? The 33rd Raspberry Awards take place February 23.
