  • California and Prop 8?

Couldn't the people of California create a class action suit "against" the sate itself...citing their non-adherance to the separation of state and religion? So far all I keep reading as a reason is "moral, biblical and religious" beliefs. the failure of the sate to abide by the separation rule should fit some type of legal agenda...or am I wrong

  • Do ethics and morality?

really have as much of an impact on today's society?

Society has created so many gooey grey areas regarding actions and decisions to make them appear to be morally or ethically correct.

Society picks and chooses what it will excuse. Murder has excuses, workplace decisions which are based on personal feelings turned into "for the good of the work force", oh he was clinically depressed, yes he killed someone while driving drunk but he is an alcoholic he has a disease...all of these excuses changing or giving new definition to ethical or moral behavior, disciplines, actions and words.

So with our dogooder and narcisistic society creating all of these grey crevices between moral and ethical behavior and decisions...can it be possible that ethics and morality have lost their meaning or power and will continue to do so?

  • Destiny and fate?

If one is a predetermined course of events and the other is the inevitable outcome... how is it that so many state that we have the power to control or bring about our own destiny. How can we change something that is predetermined? Is destiny and fate only "real" to spiritual people or is it something believed within the scientific community also?

If there is such a thing as destiny and fate... how can we even debate it or life?

  • Free thinking?

can anyone ever end the process of free thought? Can a mind stop thinking by force? I mean... if a power were to try and limit or end free thought could they actually accomplish the task without intefering with the thought process they want to promote?

A power can stop your actions, questions, public or maybe even private conversation but can they or it stop your private thoughts?

Freedom of speech and freedom of thought are different.

  • In your opinion?

In a subject such as Philosophy.... which is based on opinions and theories... in a forum such as answers where we determine who is best....

Are we actually picking the Best answers or are we really just picking the answers that more closely resemble our own theories?

  • Can a person actually?

be unlucky? They live their life right, eat right, live by the laws of society and their moral and ethical beliefs yet still nothing goes in their favor? I don't know if I can say that I believe in fate or destiny... I can't see each life being predetermined. But can someone just be permanantly unlucky even if they do everything right?

  • Can it just be?

possible that life is nothing more than luck. A series of daily and momentary events that are based on nothing more than luck... being at the right or wrong place at the right or wrong time, speaking or doing the right thing at the wrong time etc. No cause and effect involved just pure luck of the draw?

  • Just because?

something is written or taught to us, is it justified to consider it as "known"? If the person did not experience the act, is it still considered unknown? Just because it is said to be known to man must we believe and consider it as so or must we experience it ourselves?

  • Is he just a normal guy?

like he wants us to believe?

Researchers at the New England Historic genealogical Society found that Obama is distant cousins with President Bush and his father George W. Bush, Gerald Ford, Lyndon Johnson, Harry Truman, James Madison, Dick Cheney, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Civil War General Robert E. Lee and Actor Brad Pitt.

  • Just a question?

    no real thought needed but,

Did you ever feel that just as you were getting used to your day, making things happen and understanding ... along comes another day and you have to start all over again. Don't get me wrong LIFE IS GOOD... matter of fact it's GREAT.

I was just wondering if anyone else had the same feeling.

  • Has our society?

become a lazy society? Have we no sense of moderation that we have allowed our machines to run our lives and create our destiny?

  • In life there must be?

bad in order for society to see the good. Both poles must exist. But why then, do people seem to focus on nothing more than the bad, only to compllain how terrible life is becoming?

  • Would our society...?

maybe be somewhat less violent and more respectful if we didn't pick hairs at some of our freedoms...

What happened to it's 10:00 o'clock do you know where your children are, and no profanity in our children's cartoons etc. Where are our morals?

I do not agree with censorship!

  • In today's world...?

do Americans place too much emphasis on particular freedoms?

It hasn't been that long ago that I was younger but, television and radio, to name just 2 have changed a great deal. We have become too desensitized to certain things. Condom commercials, profanity, nudity etc. But with our struggles to hold tight to our freedoms, are we maybe somehow picking at hairs just to allow it.

And... In no way, shape or form do I agree with censorship!
