  • How long will it take to rebuild my credit?

I tried to get my annual credit report(the free one the government provides), but the website said couldn't give it to me online. I had to request it through mail.

I tried to get my credit info from creditkarma.com also. But they said I had a "thin" file.

I'm not sure what that means.

    Here's my credit siutation.

The only major loan I've ever had was for a brand new car when I was 18. I paid it off, but there were many late payments. That's been over 9 years ago.

I've never owned a credit card.

I have had a couple of collection's against me from hospital medical bills that I couldn't pay.

I have had a bank account closed because it was overdrafted and I didn't have the money to repay it.

All of this is in the past.

I have worked my way through college and gotten a really great job with great benefits.

I have become a very financially responsible person. I have paid of all of the collection's against me. (That I know of, which is why I need my credit report)

All of my bills are set up on auto-pay and I haven't had a late payment on anything in 2 years.

I've invested in my company stock, and also opened a 401k that I have put $10,000 in just 2 years.

My debt to income ratio is 14%

Now, I'm trying to rebuild my credit so I can buy a new house, or car, without worrying about being approved.

I plan to get a secured credit card and pay it off every month to build up my socre. How long will it take to build some credit? Should I open a 2nd card?

  • Will my leave be covered under FMLA?

I hurt my back last Sunday and have missed 3 days of work so far.

My job is very physical and I haven't even been able to sit up or get out of bed.

I've been to the chiropractor everyday this week. He took x-rays and has been treating me every day this week.

If I have another good day tomorrow I may be able to return to work Friday.

My HR manager told me to file for Intermittent FMLA so the days wouldn't count against me. We have a points system, so Dr's notes are irrelevant.

I have perfect attendance and I don't want these days to count against me.

What do I need to do on my end to make sure it gets approved?

    Thanks for reading.

  • Should I invest in my company stock plan?

    I work for West Pharmaceuticals.....

    West Pharmaceutical Services Inc.

NYSE: WST - Nov 13 4:02 PM ET

    46.97+0.12 (0.26%)

I heard some guys at work talking about the stock splitting and other things. I'm not familiar with how the stock market works at all. I invest heavily in our company matched 401k plan because it's free money. I also invest in a Roth IRA. But I'm looking for other ways to increase my retirement nest egg.

We get a 15% discount on the company stock we purchase and we can sell at any time if that helps.

If I should do it, does it matter when?

  • Can I reopen a bank account that has a negative balance?

Here's the thing. My old checking account was closed because my balance was negative because of an overdraft fee. I was laid-off from my job and have been doing odd jobs and construction work for the past year.

So I've been getting paid cash for that and haven't used my bank account.

Well, I finally found a good job and I start next week. The thing is, they only offer direct deposit as the payment method. But I can't use direct deposit because I can't open a bank account because of the negative balance on my old account.

Can I open my old account and let the direct deposit of my first paycheck cover my overdraft fee and get my account back in good standing again?

If not, does anyone have any ideas how to get around this?

This is a really good paying job and I hate to lose it before I even start because I can't open a freakin' bank account.

  • How do I cite image and graph data used in a research paper?

I had to do a research paper on lung cancer. We had to use at least one graph and one image to support our research and we have to do a bibliography page. How do I put footnotes or in text citiations for an image or graph? Do I just put a caption saying where it comes from or can I just put a footnote like a 1 or 2 and then cite the internet location?

  • My Dell XPS 400 has a blinking amber light? Won't power up.?

I have a Dell XPS 400 that I bought about 4 years ago brand new. The extended warranty I bought has recently run out, and of course, I'm having problems with it.

It has worked like a charm the entire time I've had it, but yesterday when I got home, the power light in front was blinking amber and it will not start up. According to the manual, that means it's getting power from the source, but is not distributing it properly. I checked to make sure the voltage output switch was set to the correct setting as the manual suggested.

I was wondering if a new power supply cord would be the problem? If so, do any of you full-time IT pros have any advice as to where to get one at a good price? Thanks for reading.

  • Why haven't I recieved my first unemployment check?

I live in North Carolina, I was approved for unemployment benefits a few weeks ago. I filed for the first week and the online site said they received and processed my claim but I had to wait a week which is normal. Ok fine.

Well, I filed the week(last monday) and the site says it has been processed and the amount has been deducted from my total amount.

I still haven't received anything in the mail. I filed again this Monday(today) and the site says that payment has also been processed and the amount has been deducted from my total amount I can draw.

How long does it usually take to get your first unemployment payment? I was thinking that maybe since it was Labor day last week it would be Saturday at the latest, but I didn't get anything today either. I'm starting to get concerned.

  • Anyone ever gone to prison for DUI or DWI?

I live in North Carolina which has some of the toughest DUI laws in the country. I'm getting ready to go to court for my 3rd offense within 7 years. Bad, I know. The good news is, I have turned my life around because of this and I would have probably ended up dead or killed someone else if I hadn't hit rock bottom. I've quit drinking, and have gone back to college. Im now engaged to my longtime girlfriend and life is great for the first time. I'm no longer bound by the chains of addiction. I'm really not even upset about possibly going to prison because I'm just ready to get it over with and it will only help me see the err of my ways. I want to become a youth counselor or similar field to give the type of advice to kids that was never given to me.

Anyway, assuming I'm found guilty I'm facing mandatory jail time according to North Carolina law. I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had to go to prison or jail for an extended period of time for DUI.

1.) What is it like? Do they put everyone together or will I be in a minimum type prison?

2.) If I get less than a year sentence, what will county jail be like for a year? Do you get to work or anything to help pass the time? Staying in a jail cell for 22 hours a day can be maddening.

P.S., before you judge me and think I'm a terrible person, this is the only crime I've ever committed and I only started drinking a few years ago. My record is clean other than this 3 misdemeanors. I just had a drinking problem and was very unlucky with the police. It's behind me now.

  • Did I win my unemployment appeal hearing?

I was initially denied unemployment benefits, but I appealed and had a telephone hearing. I was told to check the web-site for pre-notification of the official results. When I logged on and checked this is what it said.....

Issue: Whether the claimant left work without good cause attributable to the employer. G.S. 96-14(1)(1B)(1C)(1E).

Whether the claimant was discharged for misconduct or substantial fault connected with work. G.S. 96-14(2) or (2A).

Result: The previous determination will be modified. The official decision will explain any change in benefits and will be provided as soon as possible.

So did I win? I'm supposed to get an official ruling in the mail within 2 weeks, but I'm dying to know if this means I won and if I should be preparing for my employer to appeal this appeal.

  • I think I won my unemployment appeal hearing. Now what?

I was denied unemployment benefits the first time I filed the claim a month ago. I appealed the decision and I had my phone interview hearing this morning with the hearing officer, and my former employer.

After the hearing was complete and last arguments heard, the hearing officer gave instructions to log in to the ESC system this afternoon and check the appeals pre-notification tab and I will have an "unofficial" decision and explanation there.

The pre-notificaion stated that the original denial judgment in my case will be modified based on the information heard during the hearing today and details about benefit changes will be mailed out with the official decision within 10 days.

    I my questions are

a.) what are the odds the official decision will be different from this pre-notification decision because to me, it sounds like I won and my claim will be adjusted?

b.) what are the odds my employer will appeal if the official decision is in my favor?

c.) will i be eligible for back for all the weeks this process has been going on? I've been filing my weekly requirements.

Thanks for looking, and sorry for the long, drawn-out post.

  • Where can I find a list of tonight's Celebrity All-Star Softball game in Anaheim California?

I was watching the celebrity/legends softball game tonight on ESPN as part of the All-Star game festival. There was a woman playing on the red team(I think) that was incredibly hot. I was wondering who she was because even when they did close-ups I didn't recognize her. Anybody know where I can get a lineup sheet of that game or roster? Thanks.

  • Can I get unemployment if I was fired?

I was at my company for 4 years. I was fired because I missed a day of work and was late twice. I was forced to use my vacation time for the absences, so technically I don't think they should've been counted against me.

Anyway, will I be able to get unemployment? I'm not a wealthy person and I don't know how I'm going to pay my bills.

  • Best deal for Orlando Vacation?

My girlfriend and I are going to Orlando for vacation in a few months. We're going to Disney and we want to stay in one of the Disney resorts. Can anyone tell me the best package they've found, or the best place to get discounts? We're mid-20's with no kids, so we'll probably stay at one of the more private resorts, but we're open to anything. Just looking for some advice. Thanks!

  • Relation to race and stamina?

I've heard that black men have more stamina than other races regarding sex. Ladies, in your experience is this true? I assume by stamina they mean being able to last longer. I personally can have have sex 2 or 3 times on the same erection without pills, but I can't really last a long time before I come. Especially the first time. So is that stamina? Or is being able to last a long time the first time considered more stamina?
