  • How do you know if your pet has a headache?

People get headaches. It's often from myriad sources. It seems to make sense to me that it would be common for animals to get headaches, too. Is this possible? How would you know if your pet is having one?

  • Where did these phrases come from?

A few phrases that are possibly so out dated, their relevance with modern times has been completely lost, where did these phrases come from?

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush,"

"Kill two birds with one stone." (Keep in mind, who kills birds by throwing rocks?? By the time language and catch-phrases had developed, I would guess so did weaponry; so to me this is a moron's idiom, and I'm probably just adding it for stupidity's sake, but I thought I'd ask)

    "Cute as a button"

    "On the double"

"A piece of cake" (Making a cake isn't always easy. Eating it is, but so is eating an apple!)

  • Attractive zombies or walking dead, is this a neurosis?

From a psycho-analytic perspective, what is this considered? Many people are highly stimulated by zombies, vampires, werewolves. Why? Not too long ago they were considered threatening, but now it's almost attractive to think about something supposedly dead. Is it partly because the basis of it's fabrication has been disproven, and it's got no grounds in reality? What, psychologically, is the insatiability of the 'living dead' ?

  • Why is the goat the most popular image related to Satan/Satanism?

Of all things that relate to Satanism, why is a main symbol of Satanism a goat? I do not believe Satanism is a true 'religion,' since it's character is from a parable FROM the Bible. Basically it's got no structure, unless you follow underground or secretive cults - which rarely sustain centuries of structure; and Satanism itself wouldn't follow structure no matter. But this does not explain why the image of the goat is representative of Satanism. Any clues as to the reason for it's origins?

Please no diatribes depicting the Bible as the correct answer. I am simply curious as to actual, factual origins regarding 'whys' on the symbolism of the goat, not Biblical quotes. Thanks

  • Python Regius question about diet and feeding?

I am curious what your pet ball (or royal) python eats or has been interested in eating. Has your royal ever eaten a fresh chicken egg? If so, do you know whether it was fertilized or not? Has your royal ever turned back to frozen food after having live? I am simply looking for the best advice on the eating and diet of other royals to find commonalities. If you've owned a royal python for it's entire life span and you have a tip you think is useful, please don't be afraid to chime in.

  • What would happen to my material belongings if something happened to me?

If I were to die, or have a life-threatening injury rendering me incapable of making my own decisions, what happens to my belongings? Would my lover or my family be able to claim them? If I had written out a will, but had not done any court approved signatures or validations, would my own written statement be valid enough for those who would be claimed as my successors? Is it true the state or IRS can repossess my belongings?

  • What do you do with your pickle juice?

I usually pour my pickle juice down the drain. It seems such a waste, with the garlic and spices in side and such a tasty vinegar juice flavor. I could never drink it purely, but are there any ideas as what else could be done with the left over juice from the pickle jar? Salad dressing? An entrée sauce?

  • Pressure on the eyeball question...?

When I lightly press the inner corner of my eye, I see a black spot on the opposite corner of my vision - it grows the more the pressure is asserted. What is exactly happening? I've always wondered the mechanics of this visual occurrence.

  • Learning the violin from home?

I'm looking for a DVD on how to learn the violin. I will be practicing with a teacher eventually, but my time is rather limited and unstable at the moment, and if I could find something to help me practice simple notes at home(such as the scales), it would be very helpful. Please offer any suggestions. Thanks!
