The Democrats were the slave owners prior to, and through out the Civil War. The Republicans fought the Democrats, in order to fee the slaves, providing them with the very free rights that the Constitution calls for. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, and he is the president who is credited with freeing the slaves, from the Democratic Southern regime of that century. Today the Democrats are trying to bring us back into slavery. They want to be our dictators; and are proving it by trying to take our free rights away from us, that are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. They want to enslave us under their idea of a Communist control government. If you keep up with the news, like you should; you see them speak out against the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of expression, freedom of movement, and freedom to own personal weapons (guns). They are even speaking against the freedoms we enjoy under the court system (Miranda, the 5th and 14 Amendments). Would you really want to be jailed or imprisoned, for speaking against the government; just like in all of the 3rd world countries? Think about it.
