Do you have to make the probe short, or the SNP at the terminus of the oligo, or is there some other way to make the DNA only hybridise to one of the SNP variants? I cant find this in any of my books, thanks

Ive been readin up on the human genome project and paired reading, from what I understand of the ~4kb fragment inserted into the plasmid/fosmid, ~500 are read from each primer.

So the whole sequence or the fragment is not sequenced but used only for reference in creating contigs? Does this also mean that another technique along with paired reading must be used to sequence the whole fragment?

I am currently studying biochemistry and to make myself more employable would like to learna programming language useful for bioinformatics.

I currently have no programming experience so a simple language would be desired, but Im unsure a simple language that is also useful in the field. Any help would be appreciated, and 10 points to the best answer

Since Ive left school Ive found it pretty hard to make friends, I wouldnt say I was socially awkward or overly weird, just I can never seem to find any situation in which I can spark up a conversation, I guess what im asking is how can I just walk up to someone and start a random conversation without seeming like a weirdo?

If the brand is not angelus I would prefer if you have used the brand you give personally, as I need assurance of quality
