Is my employer violating Federal or Nevada State Law?
My employer, a taxi cab company in Las Vegas Nevada, is trying to include 3 stipulations in our yearly contract that I believe violate state or federal laws. only problem is I can't seem to find anything on it.
1. The taxi cab company will defer the cost of a collision to the driver in at-fault accidents. The only problem there is we pay a $20 a day insurance fee to the company for liability insurance. If the insurance already pays for coverage, and we're told we have to pay on top of that, doesn't that mean we're being charged for insurance that we're not going to get?
2. The taxi cab company will refuse to pay to cover gas. I believe it's illegal to charge the employee for products necessary to complete the job.
3. The company wants to charge a "shift fee", We're charged simply for coming in to work.
Just as a note, we're considered employees, not independent contractors / freelancers. the cab company was taking advantage of us drivers and charging us all kinds of fees by classifying us as independent contractors, before the Department of labor stepped in and told them to stop. it seems they're back to their old tricks.
So could anyone tell me if any of these violate the law or points me in the general direction where I can get the info I need so I can make sure we're not nickled and dimed, or sued into a paper bag house?

I know someone already asked this but I didn't like the answers given. Point is they say things that are completely conflicting.

My employer is taking money out of my paycheck for insurance, but I don't even qualify for the program for another 9 months. Is it legal for them to be taking money from my check for something I'm not getting?

10 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhy do people ask "what is the meaning of life?"?
It seems that the question is over asked and that other than "to live our lives as we think that the fates need or want us to" is all we really got.
