3 AnswersDiet & Fitness5 years agoAre Toshiba laptops the worst types of laptops?
I'm not familiar with a lot of technology, I'm planning to buy a new laptop. While making small talk with fellow customers at a computer store, I saw a Toshiba that was in a nice price range, but was advised by other customers that Toshiba is supposedly the worst brand of laptops on the market.

2 AnswersSmall Business5 years agoHow do I get my 30 yr old+ best friend to overcome his fear of approach women in person?
I have a best friend and known him practically my whole life. We both are very similar in the way we were raised. We both came from conservative sheltered households, where our parents wouldn't let wonder too far from the house and wanted to know who all our friends (people who didn't drink or smoke) are. Since we were each others safest friend, we hung out a lot the most. Unfortunately, this also produce some problems for us. We really didn't get to associate and interact with the opposite sex for a long time, way past adolescents & teenage years. In my mid 20's, I made the effort to learn how to approach and ask out women, & have had success with the females (I'm no Cassanova, but have done ok).
My friend, on the other hand, chooses to approach women through online dating sites (with little success, other then his former fiance), where he feels safe. But when it comes to approaching women in person, he cannot do it. He says that he is too afraid of rejection, though I tell him that rejection is a whole part of the dating scene and you move on. He has had have other friends ask on his behalf the object of his interest with no luck. He says he wants romance & a relationship one day, but says that he will never ask a lady out in person & doesn't want to learn because his fear of rejection.
I care deeply about my friend and his happiness, & want to see him in a relationship. While I respect the online dating site, I truly believe its best to do it in person. Any ideas?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agoAny information about becoming a pharmacy technician in New York State?
I'm considering going into that line of work. So far, I hear different stories for training as a pharmacy tech. Some people say that you need 5 months of training and take a state exam, other say that you will get trained on the job if a place like Target, Walgreens, Duane Reade, etc. hires for their pharmacy. If there is any info that you can provide me, it would be deeply appreciated.

2 AnswersSmall Business9 years agoFrustrated with job hunting in NY, What am I doing wrong?
I am a 32 years old male. I am stably employed at my current retail job for 6+ years. have an Associates degree in Communications and a Bachelors degree in Sociology, with an internship experience at an outreach program. I have a well written resume, and I am on Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, Indeed.com, Idealist.com, Careerlink.com, and I search for work on Craigslist, nybackages.com, and other online job ads. I am signed with three job agencies
I have tried looking in the fields of case worker, security guard/loss prevention, office receptionist, counselor, debt collections, transportation, customer services/relations, data entry, and many others fields to which I either get no reply or a rejection letter or a kept on file for a period of time letter. This is very frustrating for me because I am currently a member of the working poor class in America and living with my parents. I want to earn a respectable income that enables me to be financially independent. I know people with no high school or college degree, ex-felons who are in a better financial situation that I am in, which makes me wonder was all my college education worth it. I live in Rockland County, NY with dreams of moving NYC (any of the 5 boroughs), but don't see that happening soon.
I often ask people who seem to be getting job interviews left and right, people who are hopping from one job to another with ease, what are they doing right that I am not doing. Many of them say they are doing the same thing that I am doing.
Is there something that I am doing wrong or haven't looked into yet?
4 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment9 years agoHas any dude been rejected by a nice girl due to your economic status?
There is a nice girl type (what I personally prefer in a girlfriend) at my job. I have had a crush on her for the longest and she knows it. We have always flirt and joke around. We have tried going on dates, but never could meet up because of our schedules. Hers in particular because of going to nursing school and her son.
Recently she graduated nursing school. I came to give her a card and present, and notice a change in her personality. Now she acts blatantly cold towards me and ignores me. Even at times she can be insulting. My friends say that it is because she will be entering another tax bracket once she gets a nursing job while I will be working poor (I have 2 college degrees, and been looking hard for a better paying job). I'm hoping that isn't true, because her other potential candidates/admirers are computer engineer and pyschologist with a Phd.
How do I go approaching her about this? Should be I straight forward and ask is this the reason, and she tries to claim that I'm insecure or have a mutual friend else talk to her and find out why.
2 AnswersSingles & Dating9 years agoDon't you just hate it when people call on you for help, when they are in deep trouble?
Some stubborn people you have warned several times that they are headed down the wrong path, and still choose to do it anyways. You are the first person they call on for help, and you tell them that are into too deep and you can't do nothing for them. Especially without falling yourself in the muck and mire that they put themselves in.
4 AnswersPsychology9 years agoHow come some Titanic history buffs want to blame Capt. Stanley Lord & the crew of the Californian?
Whenever many Titanic history buffs discuss what could have been done to prevent the loss of life that night April 15, 1912, there are always some who blame Capt. Stanley Lord & the crew of the SS Californian for not coming to the aid of the RMS Titanic. However, there are some facts out that dispute whether had the Californian would have been of any help had it been alerted and attempted to rescue Titanic passengers & staff. There are also facts why the captain and crew of the Californian misinterpreted signs for help from the Titanic. Capt. Stanley Lord & crew should be absolved in histories pages.
3 AnswersHistory9 years agoWhere is the blame for Titanic's Captain E. J. Smith?
Many critics attack Bruce Ismay for supposedly influencing the speed of the Titanic, and getting on to a life boat. Many blame the Californian's Captain Stanley Lord for not responding to the Titanic's flares because he thought it was something else. However, when the history is thoroughly researched Ismay had no influence on speed of the Titanic. It had to be Smith's decision to travel as fast as the Titanic was going. Not to mention there were other bad decisions that Capt. Smith made such as losing control by not fully packing the life boats and the chaos that ensued on the sinking ship. To me, he is not the great honorable captain that history tries to make him out to be.
2 AnswersHistory9 years agoIs it possible to schedule a vacation trip two weeks before you are suppose time off from work?
My job took forever to approve vacation time, even though I put in for in for a long time in advance. Now, I have a two week paid vacation time from work coming in two weeks. I waited till my vacation time was approved before I would schedule it. Now that it has been approved, I'm wondering if I can find an travel agency that can help me find a nice vacation all inclusive resort in either Miami, FL or in Dominican Republic or in Puerto Rico or a nice cruise for about $1K.
