Too late to take the WOMBAT?
My son wants to take the WOMBAT on JKR's site. We got to her study (which btw has a family tree of the Weasleys, with the younger W's children) but from there could not figure out what to do. Are WOMBATS closed? My son is on holiday break so we can check back often.
He says we have to smash a rock on the mirror... but we can't seem to find a rock. Help, anyone?
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWho has seen The Business of Being Born?
Anyone seen this? Did it change your views about how women give birth in the US? Do you think that birthing in the US is over-managed, state-of-the-art, or something in-between? Do you support women's right to choose to birth as they belive is safest, whether it means at home, a birthing center, unassisted, or in a hospital?
10 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHomebirth for twins?
If you were in very good physical condition, had a very uncomplicated pregnancy, and a midwife team that included a mw who had delivered nearly 100 breech babies and many, many multiples, would you have a homebirth? (And your OB has a policy NOT to deliver breech babies...)

Did you invest in clothing made for nursing, and if you did, what brands did you like best?
16 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHelping children cope with pet's death?
We have a wonderful 14 year old dog who has grown very thin and frail in the past few months. She has a heart condition and we know she can't live too much longer. Luckily she isn't in pain and is still responsive and friendly to everyone.
Our older children are going to be SO upset when the dog dies...if you've gone through this with your children, what did you do to help them, and how did they respond? Our "big kids" are 6 and 4...
16 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWill Snape redeem himself?
After reading HP and the HBP, I have to believe that Snape will redeem himself in the next book. Dumbledore trusted him, and I know that this trust can't be misplaced... there must be something about Snape that we don't yet know, some way that he will aid Harry.
I like Snape and hope that my hunch is correct... what do you all think?
19 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoblister on nipple, ouch!?
I have a 4 1/2 month old baby that I am nursing, and in the past day or two I've developed a blister on one nipple. I've been using the cool tea bag remedy for the discomfort, but I'm not sure how to address what caused it in the first place. I remember having the same problem with one of my older children and I had a hard time getting rid of it. I've checked latch, position, the only thing I can think of is that maybe it has something to do with when I take him off?
Please don't tell me "give him a bottle" because that's not going to happen.
20 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoAlternative to DEET for infant?
I have been making my own insect repellent and although it works ok, it lasts only about 30 minutes. I don't want to put DEET on my baby (or older children). Right now I am using lemon balm and lavender essential oils in a base of grapeseed oil (about 7-10 drops of each EO). Lemon balm is citronella, by the way.
Does anyone have a better recipe or even a store bought product that is DEET free?

Does anyone have a child born with tetrology of fallot? I'm hoping someone might have an encouraging story for me. The baby is pink, not blue, by the way.
