What are the programs that every laptop should have?

In terms of security, performance, reliability, optimization, etc.

I cannot log into my computer because it will log me back out immediately. I am also unable to access the recovery console via the Windows XP CD I got with my computer, I have also made two boot CD's in an attempt to do this. When I put the CD in (I have two different CD drives) it spins a bit and stops or repeats the spinning fast then slow. I've tried both drives, I have also gone into the SETUP function of the computer and changed the boot process to have CD thing first, I have even made it so that the computer can only boot from a CD, I have also tried booting it using the BOOT MENU. NOTHING!!!!!!! It will just pop up to a back screen with a little flashing line that signifies where something is written (it looks like the one in the cmd windows). I am also unable to do that Registry thing where you access the infected computers Registry via an uninfected computer on the same network, my infected computer doesn't pop up in the search for computers. I basically am stuck with a giant paper weight now. HELP! And if you really want to help, PLEASE give step by step instructions. Easy 10 points!!!

I will be heading off into the wild known as university soon and I need to know what is the best laptop out there for university? I require good memory space and something that is fast and has a really good monitor screen and sound. My budget is limited to about 3,000 - 3,500. Also, I am looking for a portable and small printer, does anyone know if one exists? Thanks!

I was wondering how to make a perfect -and HEALTHY- bowl of oatmeal. Meaning no sugar, etc. but maintaining a good taste. Also, please include ratios since I always either make too much or too little oatmeal. Thanks!!!

Certain sites such as Deviantart.com will take me to a yahoo search when I type the address in. If I click the link on the yahoo search page it tells me that IE could not connect at this time. However, IE and my internet both are running perfectly fine, there is NO connection problem. This is happening with alot of other sites to (while others still work fine...). I can sign into Hotmail, but I cannot open messages. I click on them and nothing will happen. I have recently updated Spybot Search and Destroy as well as Norton Internet Security (which I bought the latest one of). I did not upgrade my IE to 8 either (I tried and still had the same problems so I downgraded back).

Any advice???

OKAY! well you all know how there are emoticons that move, specifically on Nex or other sites, and that there are some little flash animations that are on nex and other sites. WELL they wont work for me, they just stay frozen, and will NOT move at all.

I have tried restarting my computer, installing all new Java and Flashplayers, the latest, and clearing internet stored stuff (like history, and temp internet files). BUT they still wont work!!!

NOW my computers details are:

Windows Home XP

Newest Internet Explorer Installed

Also! I have never experienced this problem before in the past.

Could anyone help? Is it because of the new IE7? Or something else? a virus? a glitch?
