  • What action can a HOA take against a concrete walkway the home builder included?

We bought the house 4 years ago and asked the builder to construct a walkway from the sidewalk to the door. Prior to becoming owners we were given a survey of the lot that was recorded and included explicitly the concrete walkway as it is today. Now 4 years later the HOA says that the walkway is an extension of the driveway and a violation due to it not being approved by the Architectural Committee. There are no specific rules or restrictions that define how a driveway or walkway must be, only that any modification must be approved.

Didn't the lot have to pass inspection and approval of the HOA to become a property that we could purchase?

  • Can a police detect your speed with radar while driving toward you?

A police officer was driving toward me on a 2-way street and then made a u-turn and stopped me for speeding. He said he got me on radar, but is it possible that he has a hands free radar that works even while driving toward me? I was monitoring my speed and driving slow at this downhill speed trap. He let me off the hook with a warning. I think it was an excuse to pull me over. Do police have this type of system?

  • How do you buy a domain already in use?

I've seen some good domain names that are registered already, but there is no webpage, just a holder. Some have been registered for a while

I tried Snapnames, but it seems the owners renew before the domain expires.

Should I just email the owner? Then how do we make the exchange if they agree? How do I know how much to offer?

  • How can I make stickers (or other merch.) for fans of bands or TV show to sell?

If I went ahead and copied a logo (or related catch phrase) and made stickers (or other merchandise) and sold them what could I expect to happen. Would I get sued beyond the profit I would make? Would they simply tell me to stop? Would the promotion of the band or TV show be taken in consideration for added profits to the band or TV show producers.

What's the best way to go about getting a license from the producers? What can I expect in the process.

Are there any websites or references for information on doing this?

  • Is there crack in Arizona Green Tea that makes me gulp it down like crazy?

Seriously, I have never been so addicted to anything before. I've been drinking several gallons a week. I serve a full glass and sit down, and I gulp it it a few seconds, and have to go open the fridge to get more. The green tea makes me feel so good like a cool chill thru my veins, it gives me a sugar rush, and the honey is oh nice on my tongue. I feel more alert, I lost weight when I replaced drinking sodas with it, and it always helps with digestion. When I haven't had any in a while have to track it down. Seriously, this stuff is amazing. I can't drink anything as fast as this.

I don't think I'm alone cause the Target near my house can barely keep it on the shelf.

I have no affiliation with Arizona beverages.

  • What's the best way to get alerts on music news about my favorite bands?

I would like to follow my favorite groups without having to check news on each of them every so often. I want to get alerts by email weekly when news about concerts, albums, and evens are announced. I did a search on google but found no such site.

I tried MTV.com, but apparently you need a Virgin Mobile phone to get alerts.

Here's a list of some of the groups I'd like to track.

Radiohead, Bjork, Death Cab for Cutie, Aphex Twin, DJ Shadow, RJD2, Blueprint, Cunninlynguists, Jurassic 5, The Roots, Common, Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Zero7, Daft Punk, Aphex Twin, DJ Krush, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Gorillaz, MF Doom, Mad Lib, Peanut Butter Wolf, Beat Junkies, Skalpel, Prefuse73, Photek, Dan the Automator, Coldplay, El-P, Kool Keith, and Amon Tobin.

  • If marijuana were legalized, how could the gov't best regulate it?

The goal of the government would be to eliminate the black market, provide a more educated use of it, influence recreational use over chronic use, make it difficult to get but better than illegal methods, and make a profit to fight more dangerous drugs. I'm not a smoker, but I think time and resources are wasted in its current regulation.

Please do not debate the reasons for/against legalization, simply how the government could most responsibly make legalization happen.

I'm thinking only seeds should be sold, so people can grow it themselves and with limited consumption. No actual consumeable parts should be legally sold. License retailers such as cigarette sellers to sell sealed seed packets from regulated producers. Make it illegal to grow a large amount or resell. Make it illegal to smoke while driving or operating machinery. 18 and over. Increase fines and jail time against any illegal offenses involving the illegal use or selling of it. Can only grow on your property.

  • What happens to your debts, checking/savings account, stocks, and IRAs when you die?

Since there are a lot of possible variables, here's my situation. I'm not planning on dying, just trying to figure how much life insurance I should have and what I can do ahead of time.

Single. Live with both parents. No dependents.

    10k student loans

    10k ING savings

    10k stocks

    2k IRA

    2k credit card debt

    4k car in my name

So far I've learned on Sallie Mae.com that student loans are eligible for discharge upon death. Good reason not to pay them off when you have a nice 3% interest rate.

Now, I'd like my parents to be able to just take my car, savings/checking accounts (they have the same bank), Roth IRA, and stocks in the event of my death. How can I allow them to do that?

Which of my debts become null? And what accounts can they claim without any effort? What can I do to make things easier for them? Also, how do taxes come into effect.

I hope others may find your answers useful as well.

  • Which album has most infuenced your musical tastes?

In junior high I was mostly listening to Metallica, Guns n Roses, and Aerosmith. One day I bought "Low End Theory" by A Tribe Called Quest, and I have never bought a rock album since (excluding some indies). ATliens by Outkast cemented hip hop as my favorite genre of music.

Ever since than I have craved jazzy hip hop beats with smooth, positive rhymes over them. "Low End Theory" has justified hip hop for me, but radio stations continue to represent hip hop as mindless crack music, music to brag on, and to degrade women.

Which album has most influenced your musical tastes?

Ten, Ok Computer, Nevermind, Appetite for Destruction, Pisces Iscariot, Wish, DSOTM, Ready to Die, The Chronic, Lethal Injection, Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, Dookie...?

  • Why do people support Crack/Trap Music when it's ruining hip hop and lives?

First off here's a quick lesson. Trap means a place where drug deals are made. Snow is cocaine. A snowman, dope/dough boy, and hustler sells drugs. Drug dealers typically keep their wads of cash in rubber bands. A rubber band man has many of these money rolls from hustlin'.

Why would you support rappers that endorse drug dealing as a legitimate way to make money. Why can't they spend their time talking about how to turn around places like Atlanta where crack is an epidemic?

There are albums out this year by great artists like The Roots, Jurassic 5, Cunninlynguists, J. Dilla (RIP), MF Doom, Kool Keith, Boot Camp Click, and many more, check out hiphopsite.com and okayplayer.com for more, but there is no buzz.

Instead people pad the pockets of TI and his Pimp Squad Click (sounds like a name you'd make up in junior high) and show their support. TI is talented, but he does not take this opportunity to help the people his past lifestyle hurts.

  • Is High-Fructose Corn Syrup the main cause of US obesity?

Most snacks and sodas in the US contain high-fructose corn syrup because it's much cheaper than tariffed cane sugar. Since regular sugar is cheaper in most other countries, HFCP is still mainly a US phenomenon. Many believe that HFCP causes food addiction, and prevents you from feeling full. They manage to put HFCP in just about everything now. It seems like just about any food people seem to be addicted to has it, so it seems that it may be the cause of obesity. [MSG is another addicter, the reason for Taco Bell and Cheetos cravings]

  • How long do you usually have to serve for Jury Duty?

I have Jury Duty on Thursday, and I'm flying out on vacation the following Monday night. If I bring in my flight info is there a good chance they'll put me on a short case? Are the cases usually a day or less?

  • Do rappers get paid for the products they rap about?

The only endorsement I know of is when Lil Jon said:

"now i gotta give a shout out to Seagram's gin. 'cause I drink it, and they payin' me for it."

Jay-Z increased the demand for French Cristal when he kept putting it into his rhymes. Other rappers followed suit. Cristal spokespeople said they weren't paying him.

I always hear fashion names and other brands, but I'm sure they mostly just get free clothes and products.

Do most rappers get paid as well? Or are they just shouting out the brands to show their wealth?

The Vans song should definitely be endorsed, cause it's silly otherwise.

I didn't know about Sumitumo tires til I heard Baby the Birdman rap about it, but there's nothing special about them.

I dislike most commercial rap, but it's hard to avoid on the radio. I mostly listen to more conscious rappers like the Roots, J5, Mos Def, Talib, Common, and Cunninlyguists.

  • Will XM Radio collections hurt my credit?

I signed up for a 3 month trial with XM. I didn't give them a credit card number so I figured that they would call me at the end of the trial to get me to sign up. Well, I thought the XM quality was far poorer than my 192kps VBR MP3 collection. The hip hop stations kept playing the same overplayed radio songs and even more crunk that I was trying to avoid by staying off FM.

Anyhow I stopped listening to XM after the 3 months and now I have a bill that is billing me for 3 months after. I ignored the first bill, and they sent a second saying they'd refer me to collections if I didn't pay.

I never signed an agreement, I just requested a free 3 month trial over the phone. They have never called me since.

Do I have to pay to avoid a mark on my perfect credit?

  • How is it legal to drive around with paper license plates with just a car dealer logo?

Maybe this just applies to California, but dealers let you drive off with paper license plates that just display the dealer logo/name you bought the car from. Lots of MB or BMW buyers like to show off the house of imports place they bought it from.

It would make sense if the dealer received a temporary ID number with an expiration and printed it for you to use 'til you got your real license plates.

California is strict about having 2 license plates clearly visible with no covers, but if you drive off the dealer lot you're immune to identification. I wonder how long people drive around with paper plates. How long are they allowed to?

I'm not advocating that they enforce registered paper plates, but it just doesn't make sense that the law doesn't already exist.

  • Why aren't the Episode Number, Airdate, and Title of TV show episodes clearly shown?

This would be especially useful on repeats so you know when it was shown during the season, and you can look up info on the episode on such websites as tv.com.

Also, on talk shows repeats, they sometimes refer to events or times that have become distant.

Here is what I think they should have at the beginning of every segment starting with the opening:

lower left hand corner, subtle font and color:

    [episode title]

    s[season ##]e[episode number in season ##] a[YY].[MM].[DD]

    Example:

    Tabula Rosa

    s01e03 a04.10.06

The only logical explanation I have thought of is that they don't want to inform you that a show is a repeat; thinking you'll change the channel if the show is old.

First run showings could be exempt since it should be unnecessary for loyal viewers, but they should make sure that the episode name is shown at some point.
