Can I put a gas barbecue under a plastic corrugated porch roof?
Yah, I know, stupid question, but maybe it wouldn't set the entire house on fire? Does a barbecue put off enough heat to warp plastic six feet or so away? I sit here and await all the sarcastic remarks I am sure to receive.
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden8 years agoHow is electric force different from electromagnetic force?
I read that electricity can produce magnetism and vice versa. I am confused about them now.
4 AnswersPhysics9 years agoDo dogs like a bit of noise when they are sleeping? Or will it keep them awake?
I leave the radio on for them while I am gone. When I sleep, I half like it and it half annoys me, so I am wondering, when I want them to be asleep and calm, which is better, a bit of sound or silence. Dogs sleep 14 hours a day I read. I want it to be good quality.
4 AnswersDogs9 years agoIs it cruel to use Terro ant killer?
I guess the boric acid forms spikes that pierce their bodies. I read about it on wikipedia. They carry it back to kill the queen, which I guess is the main thing. But the pictures of dead ants with spikes sticking out of their bodies looks a bit gruesome and painful. Ants have feelings too, I expect. One did bite me today though. ;) But seriously, maybe I should learn to live with ants and just be a better housekeeper so they can't find food lying around...
3 AnswersPhilosophy9 years agoMixing a quart of varnish into redwood porch stain?
We put down new stain on the back porch every summer, and one year we had leftover varnish, so we mixed it into the stain and it seemed like a better finish. I did it again last year. One quart per gallon. Is this a good idea or not? :)
1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)9 years agoWhy do Japanese shops and rooms have those little short curtains at the top of the doorways?
They are often white and about one foot long hanging in the top of doorways. Purpose?
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture9 years agoWhat are some challenging dishes an aspiring cook should try?
It could be cakes, it could be campfire cooking, it could be souffle, or boiling perfect eggs... I am thinking of working through all the sauces in the cookbook. Sauces are hard. Perhaps it's French cooking... How to become the perfect all around cook is my aim.
6 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoCan I put oatmeal in the blender and use it as a substitute for whole wheat flour?
I want to make the King Arthur's Flour recipe for English Digestive Biscuits but don't have whole wheat flour. I'm an experimental cook... ;) The recipe uses 1/2 cup unbleached flour and 1 and 1/2 whole wheat flour. Or would it be better to just use all regular unbleached flour?
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoOvernight pickled veggies?
I made some Japanese style pickled daikon radish and it was great. What other veggies can I do the overnight pickling thing on? I got some cutters to make cute shapes, but that won't work on say, cauliflower, perhaps. What are good veggies for overnight, or weekend, pickling? I want a complete list and your personal stories. Thanks. I'm going to pickle everything in sight... So tasty as a side dish.
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes10 years agoJames Russell Lowell poem. I want a complete version. "Who knows whither the clouds have fled?"?
I see a quote from it, but I would like to read the entire thing.
1 AnswerPoetry10 years agoJapanese videos always begin or end with a lady saying something that seems to end in 'krishma',?
It's a company announcement or something? Hope you understand my weird question... ;) Can you translate it? She has a pleasant voice if that helps. It's always the same words on dramas or animes.
1 AnswerLanguages10 years agoCan I make wasabi flavored snacks at home? Crackers, peas, nuts maybe?
I LOVE those wasabi peas. I also love the little seaweed wrapped crackers. Can I make some sort of wasabi snack at home? I couldn't find any recipes... Too expensive to buy them...
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes10 years agoTips on cooking for another person?
Obviously, if you are preparing food for someone else, you should consult their tastes, get their suggestions... Any more tips? I bet some people who do this as a business could give me great tips on pleasing the eater. So tricky! I think it would be scary to be a professional chef. So many difficult people. ;) I am cooking for an older person who can't chew hard things. But I want to be entertaining, so if you cook for any other person, tell me about it. It will help me. I want to please. Maybe 'comfort food' is the way to go...
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes10 years agoWhat anime was this? Two brothers go to Tokyo to live with their older brother...?
Two brothers go to Tokyo to live with their older brother who is a Superintendent of Police. He isn't home and they spend the night in a park. Although he doesn't welcome them, both brothers stay with him. They possess some sort of transformer-mecha power that allows them to release an alter-ego hero fighter. They go to school with a guy with a weird curly afro hair thing. That's all I remember. Hope you can help.
1 AnswerComics & Animation1 decade agoI have an Olympus non-digital camera. It looks fun. Should I get into this...?
...or am I merely retreating into the dark ages? Give me pro and con. Is there a future for the casual user in old-style photography?
2 AnswersDrawing & Illustration1 decade agoWhat are those metal medallions one always seems nailed up in rows on British fireplace mantels?
Like round things with some sort of pattern? I see them in old houses, and especially pubs, in England on tv all the time. Thanks for telling me, if you can answer this!
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoWhat is the maximum number of people that can fit on the largest airplane? How many is too many?
I was listening to public radio today and a plane with about 500 hundred people on board clipped the tail of another plane. I guess I haven't been paying attention to the advance of civilization, but I had no idea they could fit that many people on a single airplane. I'm astonished. Is that the max? Must take a lot of toilets. How many feet long is such a giant plane? Sorry for being ignorant, but I live in a small town. Six people is a crowd to me. ;) What is it like to be crammed into a box with 500 total strangers?
4 AnswersAircraft1 decade agoIs the Big Mac "handcrafted"? I just saw a commercial claiming such. They have a point?
Those poor employees work their little hearts out. Sure macrame is handcrafted. Candles are handcrafted. But somebody has to put the top on the burger. It's an interesting question of linguistics?
