  • blue screen of death with no letters, numbers, codes or anything?!?

My laptop (about a year and a half old) has recently started popping the BSOD at me. It's happened twice now and I'm getting worried. I'm running Windows Vista Business, 512MB memory (yeah, I know it's slow, but I haven't had any other problems so far with that) and recently I haven't installed any new hardware or programs. When it crashes, it has usually been sitting just on, with the screen popped down, then I go get a glass of water or something and I come back and it's crashed. When it crashes, it's just stuck on this plain, blue screen, but there are no letters, numbers, words, anything. Just plain and blue. When I restart the computer and look under the Problem reports and solutions, my computer affirms, yep, it's a BSOD. But I can't figure out what's causing problems. Here's the stuff that I learned from the control pannel. Help please!

  • Toshiba laptop memory - I have 1GB but it says I only have 512mb?!

I have a Toshiba laptop. (I don't know which kind, I can't find it.) Anyways it has Windows Vista Business edition, 32-bit. When my computer came, I opened it up and saw that it came with 2 sticks of RAM memory, both 512mb, so my computer came with 1GB of memory. However, whenever I open my system information, it says I only have 512mb when I should have 1GB. I switched the sticks to see if one of them was corrupt, but they both worked. What are some other reasons why my computer might not be recognizing the ram? Thanks!

  • Christian songs to play at a dance?

    So far I have

    Something beautiful - Newsboys

    Tattoo - Jordin Sparks

    Shine - Newsboys

    Ready - Britt Nicole

    Catchafire (Whoopsie Daisy) - Tobymac.

Besides other popular newsboys and tobymac songs, what are some good Christian songs that can be played at a dance? They need to have a really good beat and rhythm to dance to, and I don't mean BarlowGirl or Chris Tomlin or anything like that.

  • We thought the CD drive was dead...it isn't...?

In my first post a few weeks ago, I said the CD-drive was a quantum fireball. I now know that it is a Toshiba CD-ROM XM-6402B . Our old PC is running on Windows 2000. Actually, the CD drive did not open or read CDs for about 3 months. Starting up the computer and glancing at the status light would tell us if it worked. When it didn't, the light flashed constantly, with the last flash in the sequence lasting a bit longer than the others.

Anyways, yesterday morning, on startup, the light did not blink; in fact, we popped in several CDs to play to test that it actually was working. It was listed in System tools, under system information, and a few other places, and the system said it was working fine. Today, when we started up the computer, the drive didn't work. The computer even said that there were no CD roms in my computer.

I'm sick of this. Is there any way to fix it without booting the whole computer or editing the registry? It obviously still has life in it.

    Serious answers!

  • iTunes software problem?

I successfully downloaded iTunes once. I backed up my music and deleted it because I was having troubles with my iPod software and deleted it in order to use the iPod CD that I found the other day! Then the problems started happening.

I started to install iTunes, but whenever it gets to the point, "Starting System Services" on the progress bar, a box pops up thta says, "Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." When I click retry, it just does the same thing. The only other thing I can do is cancel setup, and that's usually what happens. I have administrator priviliges on my account. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

  • iPod software problem - Windows geeks wanted!?

Okay, so I am trying to recover after a stressful hard-drive reformat. I saved my iTunes library on a flash stick, and now I have loaded it all back into iTunes. The problem is that I can't get the IPOD software (NOT iTunes - iTunes works great) to work. I had it earlier, but it was in one of those temporary internet files and it expired, I think. So I tried to get it again, and it replaced the old one. Literally, this box came up and saild, "you already have this on your desktop. Do you want to relace it?" Yes, I clicked. Now when I try to open it, this box comes up that called "Windows Installer". It's got a bunch of weird codes on it and explains display options, install options, repair options and all this weird stuff. When you click okay on at the bottom, nothing happens. I tried getting rid of the software and downloading it again, but it did the same thing.

    Can you please help me?

  • My desktop has a messed-up CD drive??? It won't open or anything.?

This is an old desktop. It works absolutely fine, though. It has Windows 2000. It's got some sort of Quantum Fireball CD drive. The device driver says it's working fine, but the CD drive will not open, (not even in safe mode) its status light blinks all the time, the emergency drive opener is really stubborn, and even if I manage to get a CD in, it will not read the CD. Any ideas? It started a few months ago. Sometimes I played some computer games, left them up over a few days, and when I quit out of the game, it would do this. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. Now it hasn't worked for months. It is not listed in My Computer. Did I fry my CD rom drive?

Also, in the System information box under start>Programs>Accesories>System something>System information, under the "Problem devices" there is some wacky device listed, called unknown, and it says Code 21 error. Does this have anything to do with my CD drive? I did once try to intstall FireWire on my computer, but gave up

  • CD-DVD drive does not work; It says something about Code 31, tried the troubleshooting wizard, no help.......?

Okay, so I have a Windows 2000 laptop. It's got a lot of minor problems, but I am having a really awful time with this one.

I have a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2002 . In the device manager it has an exclamation point next to it. It's got the whole code 31 thing about, "Windows cannot load the drivers for this device." I have tried the troubleshooter thing - it was no help. I have tried lots of webistes, but I just can't find an answer. I am desperate to have this thing fixed!

The only thing that I have found that is said to work well is to modify the registry. Sorry, but I just don't have the guts to do something like this (Someone else said that if you screw it up you're toast). I am such a dunce at computers (except when it comes to iPods) and I need help!

Is there any way to fix this without replacing the CD Drive or editing the registry? PLEASE NO JUNK. If you don't know the answer, don't answer. I don't want to fry my computer, and I don't want any spam. Pleas just help me!

  • Calling all pastors and seminary teachers/students!! Help with Koine Greek Aorist?

I am in Chaper 22 of Bill Mounce's Basics of Biblical Greek. We are learning about the 2nd Aorists. In English, an Aorist would be eat --> ate, because it totally changes form. That's a 2nd Aorist. If a first Aorist only adds -ed to the word to make the past tense form, an example would be study --> studied.

If 1st and Second Aorist were separated because of this difference in English formation, why did they have the two separate cases? English wasn't even around then, so how did they know that the forms in English were going to be different? Is there some other reason why there are two sets of endings that I am missing?

  • 411 on HP vs. Apple iPods?

What is the difference between Apple iPods and HP iPods besides the fact that the HP iPods can only be serviced by HP? Are HP ones more expensive? Which kinds do they make? Do they behave the exact same way that Apple iPods do? I would appreciate the 411, and I will award a best answer.
