Hay una chica que me gusta. Es mayor que yo, ella 40 y yo 35.

Creo que le gusto. Hemos salido unas cuantas veces, le encantó las flores que le mandé, pero después un poco que se ha alejado.

Lo curioso es que de vez en cuando me envía mensajes, pero cuando le digo para salir, se queda callada.

No se si esta siendo cortez, pero si no quisiera nada, para qué me manda mensajes?

Ella no tiene novio desde hace tiempo. Me parece que le resulta difícil confiar en un hombre, al parecer por malas experiencias.

Qué opinan? Debo insistir? Y cómo debería insistirle? Tampoco no quiero rogarle para salir.

Hello, I am an international student at an american university. I must say that the experience here has been great, and I really like your country. However, I have noticed that, with some exceptions, Americans dont want to interact with foreign people. I remember the first week I was here. An American student approached to me and said: "Do you think Americans are assholes?" I answered, "No!, Why do you think that?". He immediately replied: "Because we dont give a fu** the rest of the people"

I wanted to believe that he was just an exception. But the truth is that he was not the only one with that attitude. I tried to make American friends, in fact I have some, but in general they are not very open to be friends with people from abroad. Do you agree? Why do you think this happens?

Hello, I dont speak German :( , but I need please your point of view.

I am a Latino student at an american university. Well, the thing is that there is a German girl that I find really attractive.

Days ago, I told her that she is very kind, nice, an excellent person. Just that. I didnt tell her that I am interested in her.

However, after that day, she started to act distant and serious.

Was it appropiate what I told her? Is normal that German girls act in that way?

I say this because I remember that something similar happened with other German girl in the past LOL,...Latina girls dont react in that way. I think they are more easygoing.

Hello. Well, there is this girl at my university. I invited her to have some drinks or go to a restaurant, but she said no. I decided to not insist again.

However, after that day, she started to act weird with me. We used to say hi when we met at school. Now, she acts like I dont exist. Practically, we dont talk anymore. Well, sometimes she is kind with me, but the next day she acts like she hates me.

For instance, in the parties we had with our friends, we look at each other but we dont say a word. And her face expression is like she is angry.

Could you tell me what happens with this girl? I think I didn't offend her in any way.

I am in graduate school and I like one of my classmates. The thing is that I invited to have a date with me, and she said no. I did not ask her again but tried to be friendly with her. However, she started to act like she hated me.

I tried to be nice and kind with her. And I think I made a lot of progress. She became friendly and kind too. I thought that maybe, since the things were better, I could tell her that I liked her.

Hello, I am an international student at an american college. I really love my first month here in US; it is a beautiful country. However, there are some cultural differences that I do not understand well. I am from Chile.

For example, usually in my country when you are in a party, and you have been talking and laughing with some people and you meet that people next day, you will share more laughs and talking with that people. You are more friends than two days before.

However, it seems different in the US. For instance, the other day I was in a party, talking and making jokes with some american guys that I met in that party, but the next day when I met them in the aisles of the school they acted like he barely knew me. He said ‘hi’ in a very cold and serious way. I believed it was something personal, but other international students told me they experienced the same.

In addition, in my class there are 140 people, so it is impossible to talk with everybody, but I try to be friendly and respectful with everybody. International students in my class usually act in the same way. However, there are some American people who don’t even say ‘hi’, despite the fact you have talked with them before and they know that you are in their class. It seems rude, but before making a judgment, I want to know whether it is a something cultural.
