  • Do men sometimes hit their girlfriends/wives because they love them too much?

My fiance and I have been together for 2 years.  Even though things have been great, his temper has always intimidated me because he uses his size (he's 6'6) to show me he's incharge. He has never hit me up until 3 days ago. The man I love became so angry with me that he broke my nose. He head butted me in the face and it felt like a brick smashing into me. How could he do this to me? My nose was bleeding non stop and the pain was terrible. I went to Urgent Care, had Xrays done and was told my nose was broken. When asked what happened my fiance glared at me waiting for my response and I said some kids in my neighborhood where playing football and the ball hit me in the face. When we were talking, I asked him why'd he hit me? He said because he was angry. I asked him if this was a habit of his and if he hit his past girlfriends, he told me no and that I was the first woman he ever put his hands on. I asked him if he really loves me like he says he does then why? He said because he has more love and passion for me. He tells me that he feels like he's obsessed with me and that only I can pull that kind of anger out him or push those buttons. What if I make him upset again, is he going to hurt me again? Why does he get so mad at me? He is becomming controling. I feel like this could be a problem in our future with him hurting me because he cant control his emotions and his temper. Is it possible that even though a man may hurt you, he loves you immensely? Maybe even dangerously?
