  • How long is the average LP?

I'm going to try to put my parent's LPs onto my computer, and I was wondering how long (in hours) the average LP is.

  • building a computer, want input?

    how does this sound:

    AMD Sempron 1.6GHz

    512MB RAM

    40GB HDD

    Integrated Video

    400W Power Supply

    this is for my grandmother

she currently has an old Dell that is giving us problems, and i want to replace it

she just uses AOL and Word

thats why i am using the integrated video

    its $200, plus shipping

i just want to see what everyone thinks of this, and if they can build a better one for the cost

    i used tigerdirect.com

dont worry about the CD or floppy, we have that

  • cpu temperature?

i just bought Diablo 2 Expansion, and when i installed it, it told me that there was a corrupted file, and that i should uninstall and reinstall

so after i uninstalled, i started reinstalling and it just rebooted without warning

twice it said that it was shutting down in 1 minute to prevent damage or something

it has done this to me every time i try to do this (enough so that i memorized my cd key)

i went to my BIOS to check my temp, and it said the CPU was at 52C/125F

im fairly computer savvy, and the only thing i could think of was that the CPU is just overheating and making it shut down to prevent damage to itself

but this doesnt make complete sense, since i can play C&C:Generals, Starcraft, and Halo (trial version, since im cheap) fine

im just wondering if this would cause the computer to reboot while im installing

i have an AMD Duron 1.3 GHz, if that helps

if you have any other questions, ask them in the answer or email me, and put "cpu temp" in the subject, or i'll ignore it

  • video card problems?

i was playing C&C generals, and used 50 nukes in about the

    space of 30 seconds

the screen filled white, then the program shut down, and said something overheated

    it was on high detail

i turned off my computer, to let it cool faster

when i turned it on the next day, i turned the detail to low and played the same game again

it was sore of choppy, even tho i had no problems with medium detail before the heat issue

i was wondering if my video card was somehow damaged but not completely destroyed, or if something else was hurt

    heres my system specs:

    AMD Duron 1.3GHz

    640 MB 133MHz SDRAM

    NVidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 AGP 4X (128MB memory)

    Sound Blaster Audigy

    Maxtor 100GB hard drive

    40x CD Drive

    300 watt power supply

3 80mm case fans (2 blowing in from the back directly over the video card)

    if you have any ideas
