Have you done the screw and washer "fix" for your XBOX 360 RROD? I found out that it's not the best fix.....?
I'm not so much posting this as a question, but found out some good information today for those like me who monitor this XBOX 360 board.
I spoke with William Betts who's the owner of Pro Console Repair in Hurst, Texas. He used to fix XBOXes for GameStop for years then went out on his own to start his own company.
I asked him in detail about all the fixes that are out. He said that he did a comparison of those with the MS X clamp and those with the screw and washer fix. He said he had more of the screw and washer fix come back than the X clamp. I asked why and he said that the X clamps keep a certain tension on the motherboard that adjusts while the board heats up and cools down. The screws and washers don't do that. He did say that the X clamp metal will fatigue over time and that he replaces them with new X clamps when that occurs. He also said that there's nothing anyone has come up with that keeps the motherboard from flexing.
He also said:
-over 95% of broken XBOXes can be fixed.
-XBOXes are more resilient than PS3's. He said if someone brings a PS3 in because they've dropped it then it's probably broken for good. One of his customers got PO'd at his XBOX and threw it out the window. He was able to repair it. Odd that they get the red rings yet can be easily fixed if thrown out a window.

For all those wondering, it looks like there will be no new xbox console released in 2012.

3 AnswersXbox9 years agoWe get a lot of people here with XBOX problems. How many have never had issues with theirs?
I for one have not had any issues with my family's XBOX's and we have 4 that were purchased new. 3 are slims and one is the newer Arcade. They all run great and the only 2 things I make sure of is that they're cleaned/dusted regularly and are kept in an area where they can 'breathe'. What about you?
