How do I trace my half sister?
I would like to try and trace a half sister, on my father's side. None of my family know, or will give, her name, or her mother's name, so I only have an approximate date of birth (around 1958), and can make an educated guess at place of birth (Fife, Scotland). I know that a court order was made for maintenance payments from my father. The Salvation Army will only carry out searches to re-unite family who have a pre-existing relationship, and there are obviously no adoption records that I know of. Is it possible to search birth records by the father's name, or to get anything from the court records? I am well aware that my sister may have all sorts of reasons for not wishing to be contacted, but I do want to let her know that the opportunity is available, if she chooses to get in touch.
