  • what if you fight traffic ticket and lose?

In Los Angeles, if you feel you should not have received a speeding ticket (for simply avoiding a car pulling in front of you and you had to speed up to get out of the way of a certain impact), and you lose or the ticketing officer does show up, do you pay additional fines? Or it is that you haven't won anything and you still have to pay. My brother wants to possibly fight the ticket but wonders about the gamble of doing it. He had a ticket for a rolling stop a year ago, therefore he cannot go to traffic school.

  • Is Peacock poop biodegradable?

We have many many peacocks in our area, and with all the poop around, I'm wondering if it's biodegradable? In fact, I'd like to research peacocks so if you find a source about the poop, please share....

  • How to attach 2 pieces of metal using a brad and hammer?

I'm trying to make a bracelet by attaching layers of metal sheets, cut to maybe 1" x 4" for the bottom, and a smaller piece on top. I've seen the method referred to in some jewelry magazines but without any specifics. I am going to punch a hole in each of the two pieces, line up the holes and put a brad or rivet in the holes from the top. Then I think I have to hit the top of this brad (with a hammer) and the back of it should "spread" out and therefor secure the metal pieces together.

I would hold the backside/bottom of the brad against a metal block.

Is that how I make the bad of the brad bend or spread out?

I can't see hitting it from the bottom with the hammer because it would probably just flatten the brad over to one side or the other.

Anyone work with metal pieces and jewelry?

  • If my catalytic converter was stolen from my car, would the check engine light come on?

My husband thinks that my Catalytic Converter may have been stolen from my car. We didn't notice it last night after leaving a restaurant but it was late and we were tired. We did park in a well lit parking lot. When I started my car this morning, we heard a loud rattle.

There's a piece/small sheet of metal hanging under my car near the tailpipe. It still has a couple of bolts, but may be missing one or two others. So this metal is banging my tailpipe, making the noise. He's hear of people stealing Catalytic Converters. But I don't see a check engine light coming on when I start the car.

I will be taking the car to the dealer Tuesday early (after the holiday) but I'd be afraid to drive the car if the converter had been yanked off. I don't know enough about this to know from looking if the converter was taken, but I am sure the check engine light would come on and it hasn't.

I think a bolt just came loose.

    Any thoughts?

  • Garage band recording performance of cover songs?

If you're in a "garage" band, and you perform cover songs belonging to current musicians, is it legal or not to record your performance, and just send a copy of that music file to a friend??? I'm not talking about selling it, I'm not talking about necessarily upload to Youtube - I'm just talking about sharing your performance with friends.

What is the copyright law on that, if any? I'm not referring to songs done say by Mozart or someone, more like Led Zeppelin etc...

    Thanks.

I'm registered with an employment agency, and have been assigned to/worked for the same client several times. They are calling me back again but now the agency said they have to run an NCRF? What is that? I realize that new rules come into play all the time, but I was just on assignment with the same client 2 months ago!

  • Sun-Printing with Light Sensitive fluid?

I saw a craft idea in a magazine but it did not list a source for the special fluid used. It's a fluid that you paint onto paper (maybe fabric also), then when it's dry you lay items like leaves on it, cover with glass and let it sit in the sun. Then after a while you take the glass and items off and the paper has turned blue, and the area where the leaves were is now white.

I have called photo processing stores, craft stores and art supply stores. They do not have it.

I have also posted on this magazine's website waiting to see if they know of a source.

    Any ideas???

  • Are you a state farm agent?

The folks who are waiting to learn about the Bachelorette Show, are arguing about whether or not Roberto Martinez indeed is moving, including his agent's license, to Irvine, California from South Carolina. Someone on that discussion board says that he moved his license, but only people working for State Farm can see him in their computer/email system. Is that TRUE?

  • What was that "new" natural/green ant spray?

I thought I saw an ad or commercial about a new ant spray, relatively "green" or natural. But I can't find it. We want to spray the perimeter of our house since we always have invasions of ants when the hot weather comes.

Has anyone see this product? It was one in a large container, for spraying the foundation. I think it uses Pyrethrin, an extract of Pyrethrum chrysanthemums.

Please no lectures. I prefer natural treatments or just sweeping etc, but we've had way too many ants to avoid doing anything. It is NOT because we are not clean, or don't clean enough. My husband is way to sensitive to odors to use baby powder etc, and I know because I've tried that and while it worked fairly well, he couldn't handle it.

I am just not going to let the ants take over our house. The house is old, I'm not working, we can't tear apart the foundation to redo some problem. We've had it treated already for termites. We just get this problem every summer or if it rains.

  • Want to add bits of poly clay to glass bead - will this work?

Besides baking my own poly beads, I'm thinking of "embellishing" some plain glass beads. I've seen some GORGEOUS lamp work beads that I just can't afford. They are for example, an ocean blue color, then a little seahorse or starfish wrapped around it. I'm thinking of finding a good sized blue glass bead and then add little poly clay features; then baking it. I know my oven is certainly not as hot as the method making the bead, so I'm thinking it would be safe to experiment. ???

  • Can you make up poly clay pieces several days/weeks in advance before baking?

I'd like to make some beads, or focal beads / pins out of poly clay. But I may not have a lot made at one time, and I'd prefer to bake many items at once. Does it hurt to make up the pieces, save them, and then bake everything later? Or do you have to bake the piece within a certain time frame.

I've used the poly clay a long time ago but didn't wait to bake the pieces.

  • Ornamental plum tree produced fruit - safe to eat?

For the first time in 17 years we've been at this house, the plum tree we were told is "ornamental" has produced a fruit. I fertilized it about 2 weeks ago and maybe that did something.

I didn't see the fruit in time to leave it on the branch, as I was trimming it.

But would the fruit be safe to eat? I know that since it's small it may be sour.

But I have never heard of a tree that isn't supposed to produce fruit, suddenly doing so.

Oh, and it was treated for termites earlier in the year and we didn't know the tree would even live. It has apparently thrived!

  • Selling items on Church property in city of LA?

I'm on an informal committee to determine if the (neighbor friends') church can let it's members sell stuff on the church property. The church would like to let it's members sell their home made items, with no obligation to give the proceeds to the church. Would this require a business license or a reseller's permit?

Please don't answer "ask the church". The person at the church needs help determining this.

  • Are you near Reliable Hardware in Hollywood?

We are trying to find out if this store, who sells supplies for making your own music instrument carrying cases etc, is open on weekends. We've left a message, and they don't have their hours posted on their website. But if anyone lives near Vanowen in Hollywood, do you know this store?

  • Do you find any value in going to job fairs?

There are a few this week at hotels near LAX - I will go ahead and attend one since it's free, but I don't recall there being much value to these other than agencies getting you to register with them.

  • I received a notice for free airfare from US Airlines?

Either US Airlines or Thrifty Car rental sent me a "birthday" card (way after my birthday I might add) that I will receive two free tickets, just call this number............... I am pretty sure this a scam. My neighbor received one also...hmm, right next door and has the same birthday????

Ahh, it says "Ultimate Vacations" on the back.

Has anyone else received this? I don't know if I should call the "toll free" number. That could be a phone scam I suppose.
