at local coffee shops my MacBook will connect to the WiFi network but will not work with the internet. I see other people connecting fine, and my iPhone 3Gs connects and has internet access but, not my laptop!

I cannot ask coffee shop owners to reboot their routers so i can get a non self assigned IP. any suggesstions?

yes i've seen PC users have this problem too so it's not just a mac vrs pc thing.

the planters are 5 1/2 inches deep and 6 inches wide ... and 3 feet long. I put some old potting soil with styrofoam bubbles (from old house plants) on the bottom for about 2 inches, then i put 1 inch of new potting soil above it and place a variety of snapdragon, bachelor buttons, marigolds, and a wild flower mix throughout the planters, and covered all seeds with another 1/2 to 1 inch of new soil and watered carefully untill completely saturated.

.... the question .....

I have about 2 1/2 + inches of space from the top edge of the planter to the soil inside... is this too deep? should the soil surface be closer to the top of the planter?

I am trying to figure out and make sense of a lifetime of abuse that i have suffered at his hands, under his care. And after all these years he blames me for everything that happened. i am 42 and tired of dealing with his backstabbing, lies and his manipulative ways. and as well as my mother's abandoning/enabling ways. I experienced a brutal childhood to say the least, but still i go back for more hoping they will change or listen or believe me. I took my father to therapy a few years ago and he blamed me for everything that happened, even his uncontrolled voilent rage. He is 72 now and tries to cover his rage/ anger at life, he is bitter but wants a "nice" relationship with me, wants to be my friend now. he lashes out quietly by manipulating relatives+friends with money and expensive gifts but will not help me or my bro, he backstabs us, and tries to sewer our success. As a child of the depression he grew up an unwanted kid, and was bullied @home and school, unloved, and a burden.

The graphics card in the iMac is good enought to drive a 30HD display but apple doesn't have the DVI connector out needed... instead they have the mini DVI which can only drive a 23" display... how do i connect a proper DVI connector to the monitor card without cutting the computer apart and voiding the apple care warranty... is there a sneaky way to connect the DVI to the video card?

Canada, Ontario... Its a 5 story low rise with about 60+ tenants. He is not a qualified electrician and a bad drunk. He showed me his handywork in an apt that he was getting ready for the new tenant. he removes the 2 prong ungrounded plugs and puts in a 3 prong plug but he has nothing to connect the ground to... Is there a law in Canada against this potentially dangerous act? Also the quality of his work is untrustworthy and probably a fire hazard. I would like to call some sort of electrical inspector but i don't know exactly where to go for help. I don't want to be identified as the whistleblower because if he doesn't get fired then i have to deal with his vindictive behaviour.
