  • can you store non-pictures on camera memory?

Is it ok/safe/possible to store non-media files (e.g. word documents, zip files, etc.) on the memory card I have in my camera? (A canon Powershot.) And if so, do I need to do anything in particular to do so.

    thanks so much!

  • Bribe DMV? ... Opinions? Ideas? Facts?

On a scale of 1 to 10, just how bad of an idea would it be to bribe a dmv road test guy if one were to fail the road test by just a few points? What kind of repercussions might there be? And do you think a hundred bucks would convince the guy?

This is all hypothetical, of course.

  • first aid question - please help?

I scraped my hand and when I put on a bandage on the wound, the skin seems to be growing into the bandage, like a scaffolding. I took it off this morning -- quite painful -- and needless to say the majority of the skin came off with the bandage. so, my question is, should I be taking the bandage off? should I leave it on? should I not use a bandage at all? is there anything else I should know?

    thanks so much!

  • Help with Hanging a Shelf and Using an Anchor?

I'd like to hang a shelf in my kitchen. I bought some nice and big L-shaped brackets; I have a large plank of wood; and I tapped on the walls to find where the studs (hopefully) are.

That said, I'm nervous about the shelf falling. I'm not sure that it's strong enough and I'm not even sure I hit the studs. So, I was reading about anchors and was wondering what you would recommend. should I use anchors? which type? should I put them in the same spot which might be going into the studs?

    Thanks so much!

  • MP3 Player Help!?

I want to buy my first mp3 player but I just spent the last 4 hours browsing sites online (cnet etc.) and am still feeling overwhelmed and clueless. so I was hoping someone could help me find what I'm looking for or make a good suggestion.

essentially, the features I'm looking for are:

    1) Radio tuner

    2) Can record audio directly onto it. (I play music and it would be good to have something onto which I can make quick recordings.)

    3) Good battery life.

    4) at least 20 gig.

    5) Ideally, under 250 dollars.

    6) good customer support

These are features which I'd want, but if you have a really good recommendation which doesn't have all the above, then please tell me about it.

*It need not play video or image files.*

I don't intend to watch videos on it.

thanks so much for your help!

  • help with song, please!?

    Help with song

I was watching this episode of Upright Citizens Brigade, and they have this one skit where they play a song. I've tried hard to locate it, but can't seem to find it.

Sooooo, if someone can help me:

The song starts at: 3 min and 42 seconds.

btw, that whole sketch is hilarious, and I recommend watching it. It starts at: 2 min and 50 seconds.

  • cell phone help!!?

I just got t-mobile and it included a Samsung (SGH) t609. When I was getting the phone they told me I can use it to play music, but -- and don't judge me as being too stupid -- I have no idea how to get music onto the phone! I know there's something with USB and memory cards, but I really don't know what's flying.

Also, are all micro-SD memory cards the same for all phones (since i saw some cheap ones on ebay for a gig).

thanks so much for your help!

  • Cell Phone Help!!!?

    Cell phone help!?

A good friend lent me a phone almost a year ago when he saw that I desperately needed one. It was a rather crappy phone from 7-11, though for the time it served my needs. these days, though, I spend around 50 bucks a month for its crappy service and feel I ought to get a normal phone and plan.

    so...

I've been looking into plans and was hoping someone could help me out:

On the one hand T-mobile has a great looking plan: 40 bucks for unlimited night and weekends + 600 mins.

but sprint has a plan for only 30 bucks which includes 200 mins and has free nights and weekends -- but nights start at 7, not 9 like most services.

    so, what should i do?

I don't really know about the service of these two companies (btw, I'm in ny) or just about anything else. so any help provided is much appreciated.

    thanks in advance!

  • building a house?

My roommate and I are toying with the idea of building our own house with some friends. of course, we know nothing about this endeaver -- like whether is feasible. to give you an idea of what we are looking to do, we would like to build a 3000 - 3500 square foot rustic cabin/house. Basically it will serve as a nice getaway place away from the city for us and some friends. What we are wondering, as we are complete novices, is:

1 - When looking for property, is there anything in particular that we should be looking for?

2 - How difficult would it be for us to clear the land for the house and set up a foundation by ourselves (with the help of 4-5 other friends)?

3 - What is the lowest possible price you could imagine for such a venture, assuming that we did the work ourselves and are just buying the supplies?

    ...
