  • 1989 Ford fuel line question?

I have a 1989 F-250. I recently put in a new fuel pump and I must have kinked the plastic fuel line,........now it leaks as soon as the pump kicks on and builds pressure in the system,........Here is the question. Can these plastic lines be spliced and re connected with some type of a compression fitting or do i need to replace the entire line?

  • Question for the Subaru guys. Brake question?

I just bought my first Subaru. It's a 1994 Legacy wagon i bought for my winter transportation.

The brake lines on the rear are shot.........I removed ALL the lines up to where they come inside the passenger cabin under the rear seat,.....I plan on splicing the lines here. Now for my question: When the lines run thru the floor, they go into a distribution block of sorts ( 2 lines in and 2 lines out)...........is this blocks purpose simply to give a solid mounting point so lined don't rattle around under the car?..........I would like to just run the 2 lines thrun the floor and to each rear wheel without using the distribution block,.........will this work or not?

  • Ford 6.9 Diesel won't start?

My friend just bought a non running 85 Ford truck, 6.9 non turbo diesel. friend is NON MECHANICAL,.......said the previous owner had fuel line removed to see if it was getting fuel to the engine, and also stated he thought iw was losing compression,.......i figure the p/o didn't have a clue and sold the truck cheap.

I haven't seen the truck yet, but my plan was to check the oil,.....change the fuel filter,.....add fresh fuel,.......plug block heater in,.......charge batteries,.......reconnect fuel line and see what happens.

Is there anything else anyone could suggest?

I know this is a bad question since i haven't even seen the truck yet but I'm just looking for some input.

    Thank You.

  • Ford 351W Question (1989 F-250 4X4, ZF 5 spd.)?

I was driving along fine, then when i pushed the gas pedal the truck would bog out (like it was running out of gas) it would maintain speed ok, but when you push the gas pedal it would bog out and die..................it is VERY hard to start now, and once it starts it has issues. once started,....if you push gas pedal slowly it will rev up fine, but if you push hard, it bogs out and shuts off...........Is this possibly a fuel filter, or maybe a M.A.F. sensor or maybe a bad coil or something? I need the truck for work, but I don't have time to really get into it................truck has 99,000 miles on it.

This truck always started right away and ran fine..........but I did notice that the fuel milage has really dropped and it has lost a little power in the last month or so (this may or may not be related to the problem at hand)

I could really use some help,......THANK YOU.

  • Ford C6 auto tranny question?

I recently bought a 1981 Ford Econoline Van. It has a 300-6, with a C6 auto tranny.....The problem is that the tranny must be manually shifted. The previous owner said he had changed the tranny filter and fluid and that is when this all started.(having to shift it manually)...........Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem may be? I haven't done anything with it since I bought it,........is it an easy fix,........will it work it's self out with use??

  • 2002 PT cruiser timing belt question.?

If the belt breaks in this engine, is there any piston or valve damage? or is there enough clearance that a TDC piston will NOT hit an open valve.........I'm looking at one to buy for my daughter and if it just needs a belt I'll buy it, but if there is significant "other" engine damage I will pass.

  • How drastically will ignition timing effect fuel milage?

I have an 89 F-250,4X4, EFI 5.8,(351W) V-8 (100% stock) 5 spd.,......I had always gotten between 13 and 15 mpg (empty not towing anything)........my milage has dropped to between 6 and 8 mpg and the truck seems sluggish,......it still has power, you just have to put your foot into more now,and it seems to be dead over 3500 rpm's.............it almost seems as if the timing is out. It starts fine and idles fine,.....however it is running rich (i can smell unburnt fuel in the exhaust,....however it does NOT blow black smoke)

The only modification to the truck is the catyletic converter is fully open. (cut, punched, rewelded)

I'm going to swap plugs,...the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor are only about 10 thousand miles old.

    Any idea's????????

  • Question Ford 6.9 Diesel?

I recently bought a 1987 Ford E-350 van,......it has 136,000 miles. The motor was rebuilt and a new ATS turbo system (non waste gate) less than 2000 miles ago. Here is the problem,...........The van has sat for the last 6 years without being started,...........What specifically should I do prior to trying to fire the engine?

I figured on taking out the glow plugs and spraying the cylinders with PB blaster and then working the motor by hand,......my biggest concern are the rings,.....and the turbo,..........I don't want to starve it for oil and don't want to damage a perfectly good motor by trying to start it dry.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated,........please be specific.

I have never owned a small diesel and i want to do this right. THANK YOU.

  • Need a model name for an old coleman camper?

I need to know the model name of an old (1974-1978) Coleman folding truck camper...............It is a small camper that the top cranks up,.....then the sides drop down. (it looks like a folding trailer sitting sideways on the truck bed when opened,.........and is not much larger than a standard bed cap (topper) when closed) I used to have one,............but I can't remember what the model name is.

  • Legal question regarding a finance company, and criminal charges for missing a loan payment.?

My kid brother has a loan through a local finance office (part of a MAJOR banking institution) anyway,.........he has fallen behind on the payments. The finance company has threatened that they are going to file charges at the local district magistrates office. My question is this...........how is a contract a criminal issue? Also,.........there is a vehicle used for collateral on the loan, but the loan is in my brothers name, but the truck is my dads, and dad never signed anything (my brother is a jr.) We are in PA. My main concern is my dad losing his truck (the finance company was aware of the name on the truck title when they wrote the loan) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

  • Motor cycle electrical question. 10 points, please help?

I have a 1973 Suzuki RV-125. Here is the problem. Last summer the bike started to lose spark,it would start and run fine, but the next time you try,it would lose spark, then the next time it would start and run fine.

I had it out a few weeks ago riding in the snow and it was fine, but has had no spark since. (sometimes with plug removed and held in my hand,I kick the bike over and get a very very weak spart, not enough to run)

What all could be the problem, points? ignition module? I have 3 new plugs and the same result with all of them. I have had this bike since it was new and really want to fix it. I know my way around cars fine, but never really worked on bikes.

  • Question about valve guide seals?

I have a 5.7 GM engine, not to many miles, however it is not driven regularly and due to this, when the engine sits at an idle for a little while, then driven it burns oil, after a little driving it is fine, I figure the valve guides are leaking oil into the cylinders at an idle, then burning it when you drive.(compression is good across all cylinders) My question is this,....are there any additives or products that will expand seals or will this correct itself in time as I am going to be using this vehicle as a daily driver.

  • What is a 1990 GMC fullsize 4X4 (QUIGLEY) conversion van worth?

1990 GMC full size conversion van (EXPLORER conversion) W/ optional QUIGLEY 4X4 option. Van is a 2500 model designating it as a 3/4 ton, however when the 4X4 conversion was done,1/2 ton components were used,it has a DANA 44 front (not a DANA60), and it has coil springs on the front

5.7 (350) EFI V-8,AOD trans, dual range transfer case, locking hubs,151 thousand miles, runs decent, but has not been on the road for many years, needs exhaust.

Gray cloth interior,4 swivel captains chairs, power sofa bed,all power options, aluminum wheels, spare tire carrier, mid rise fiberglass top w/sky lights, Interior is in good shape, but needs cleaned (kinda dingy)

Has a little surface rust at top of windshield, HAD minor rust on bottom, however it was all cut out and new steel panels welded in.

I need to sell this van and am just asking to see if anyone has an idea as to what it is worth.

  • Opinions needed regarding relationship, and monies loaned.?

I have been with my girlfriend for 6 years now,we live 70 miles apart, have our own homes, jobs, and kids.

Here is the problem. I borrowed money off of her,and have been repaying faithfully, however she will only accept payments in the form of cash. She will not accept a check or a money order or anything else that leaves a trail.

Since borrowing the money, she has been mean and nasty and never lets me forget that I OWE HER! She has also been pressuring me into marriage (this was never part of the deal right from the beginning) I'm not against marrying, but it has to be right and it isn't, and it cannot be forced.

Getting back to the money,......The only reason i figure she would refuse payment that leaves a paper trail is so she can screw me over at a later point in time by saying i never paid her.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK as i think I'm about to be fed to the wolves.
