Can I use Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition as a stand alone server?
I have a low-transaction system, and I wanted to put SQL Server 2000 personal edition on an XP Pro box as a stand alone system and have other systems on the network look to this box for its database. I've read a bunch of Microsoft articles, and it does not say that it restricts personal edition from remote connections, but I have not been able to see the database remotely. I'm using SQL Server authentication, so I shouldn't need to share any file directories, right? Any advice/ideas would be great.
3 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoWhat is the process of acquiring expired domain names?
When a domain expires, what happens next? Does it go into a pending deletion phase, and then is up for grabs?
I want a domain that expired June 16th of this year. Before contacting the former owner (who could capitalize on the fact that someone wants something he controls) I want to know how long until I could just register the domain directly.
Also, are there ways of getting on a waiting list, for when a domain becomes available?
Thanks in advance
2 AnswersInternet1 decade agoSQLServer Timestamp format?
I'm accessing some legacy data stored in SQL Server, and my framework is convoluting the timestamp, so that I can't read or write to the field of type timestamp. Does anyone know the format SQLServer is looking for with a timestamp? (When I look at it in my third party tools, it just shows that it's binary data.)
Thanks in advance.

It seems that all I'm finding on Google are outdated articles or single-processor features. I imagine there's got to be a favorite site for people who keep up with this hardware.
