win98 defrag not working
i am trying to run scan disk and defrag on a win98 SE computer. i have gone into msconfig and unchecked everything but sys tray and done a restart. i entered "Del" and can find no way to change anything that will make a difference. what is happening is Internet Explorer is running and continuously interrupting the testing so it keeps restarting and never finishing. i go to the task manager and try to shut it down from there but it just says it is not responding and tries to do a restart. i did a disk clean-up and completely cleaned temp files, cookies etc. what am i overlooking?
