Where is a great place to camp in Ontario?
We're looking for a place to camp in Ontario & would love your suggestions! We'd like something within a 1-4 hour drive from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), that is NOT a party campground. Something that is appropriate for tent camping, offers canoe rentals & swimming, is quiet, has wildlife but doesn't have predatory animals (since we have a small dog) & flush toilets & showers somewhere nearby. We really want a water front site. The water doesn't have to be accessible from the site just visible. We're looking to go the second or third week of September. We've been to a few places but are always looking for a new place to try.
Places we've been & liked: Presquile (great water view sites, hiking trails, minimal biting bugs), Wheatley ( lots of herons, nice size sites), Red Bridge Pennsylvania ( our favourite place to camp- huge camp sites, great waterfront sites, clean washrooms, awesome canoeing & swimming, minimal bugs)
Campgrounds we haven't been thrilled with: Sharbot Lake (too much traffic noise, small sites), Emily (sites aren't great)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated & if you can give specific camp sites that would be even better!
Thanks:)
3 AnswersOther - Canada9 years agoCover band name - creative help needed!?
My husband & 4 other guys are part of a very talented local cover band; there have been some changes so they are making a come back & need a new name.
They play everything from Lady Gaga, BEP & Train to Journey, Rod Stewart & AC/DC. Their target audience is 19-40year olds. They play the local (& not so local) clubs, private parties and corporate gigs.
Any suggestions for a fun, easy to remember, maybe a play-on-words, band name would be greatly appreciated!
5 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agocaring for orchids?
Hi,
I have a phalaenopsis orchid that is growing & flowering beautifully. My concern is that it is getting very tall & top heavy. I have tried to support the main stem but now the stems that are growing off the main stem are also getting too heavy to support themselves. The main stem is about 12 -15 inches before it divides into 2 stems, one of which divides again.
How do I keep the stems from bending too much or buckling under their own weight?
What is the best way to support the main stem since I have to leave the roots & bottom leaves exposed?
Thanks in advance for any help!
4 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoDwarf frog activity?
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone knew about the normal activity levels of a dwarf frog? I've got one dwarf frog in a 2.5 gallon tank and it's pretty active. I wanted to make sure that the frog isn't looking for something etc? Do dwarf frogs prefer to have the company of other dwarf frogs?
I'm new to owning a frog so any information on how to keep my dwarf frog happy & healthy would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
2 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoAfrican Dwarf Frogs?
Hi,
I have 1 african dwarf frog that I had in my 45 gallon aquarium but he (I have no idea of the sex but I'll call the frog a he) was stressed & after some research moved him to his own smaller tank. He's doing great but the first week the tank developed a really bad odor and this whitish stuff floating in the water. It wasn't on the frog just in the water everywhere - almost like someone squirted a small bit of white hand cream in the tank & it dispersed throughout the water- & No no one did that & I always wash hand throughly before putting hands in tank water.
I did a complete water change & so far so good. But wondering if anyone knows what that could've been, in case it happens again?
Also can these frogs carry anything that humans can contract - (ie) fungal infections etc?
Thanks in advance for help!
2 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoMy platy's are acting really weird?!?!?
Hi,
I have a platy that I think might be pregnant but I'm not sure. I do have 2 babies that I mananged to find & put in a bredding net. The the platy I think is pregnant is being followed & harrassed by 3 of my other platies. They are literally like magnets stuck to her - she can't move without them. I'm not sure if they are nipping at her - she has no visible wounds or torn fins. I put her in another breeding net, to keep them away from her, but she seems even more stressed.
Anyone know what I should do? What is up with the platies behaviour?
Some info on my tank: I have a 45 gallon tank & its definitely not overstocked; its well established; great filtration.
Thanks!
4 AnswersFish1 decade agoHi, aside from daily water changes how can I control my aquarium's nitrates, nitrites??
Hi,
I recently upgraded my aquarium from a 25 gallon to a 45 gallon. I've had it running for over a week & I've been doing daily waster tests. My nitrates & nitrites are still high & my fish are stressed. I only have about 10 one inch length fish & 2 dwarf frogs so I know I have lots of room & haven't over stocked. One of my filters is brand new & the other is only a month old, both with carbon filters. I only feed once a day or once every 2 days with frozen blood worms, flake food & occasioanlly algae wafers. I have algae eating fish & no goldfish. Plus all my gravel is new.
I've already done a 25-50% water change & my levels are still high. I asked my local aquarium store & they said to do a water change every day for 1-2 weeks. Water changes stress my fish so I was wondering if anyone knew of any other ways & once I get my nitrates/nitrites levels down how I can keep them down?
Thanks in advance!
