  • Where is a local soup kitchen in Austin, TX for me to volunteer for Thanksgiving?

I've tried finding a few but everyone is serving on a day other than Thanksgiving, but I have to work during the week. I can't seem to find a place that is serving a meal ON the actual holiday.

    Any ideas?

  • Dual Monitor Advice?

My question is regarding setting up dual monitors.

I've wanted this for a while but one thing I'm picky about is that I want two of the same monitor.....I don't have a problem with going and buying 2 new ones but here's the question:

Do I go standard or widescreen?

I would buy at least 21" or bigger when it comes to size...I'm just not sure if my computer will run the widescreen monitors without distorting the picture somehow. I do tons of work in Excel and keep my resolution at 1280 X 1024 as it is....I can't deal with anything being streched or distorted in anyway.

My graphics card is a NIVIDIA Quadro FX 570M that I know supports dual monitors....I've just never used a wide-screen monitor to know if it will distort the picture at all...

    Advice?

I'll take advice on which monitors to buy as well! :o)

  • Kenmore Elite washer won't drain?

Lately my Kenmore Elite washer won't drain for some reason. I'll run a load of clothes but when the cycle is done, it's still full of water.

If I try to run just the "spin" cycle again, it adds more water into the machine while it's trying to spin.....

I don't think the drain hose is clogged becuase I can manually turn the water off in the back and run the spin cycle and hear the water drain......this is about the only way I can get my clohtes to spin-dry...

Any ideas before I go spend a couple hundred on a new washer??

    Thanks in advance!!

  • The country song and Kelly Clarkson remix?

For the life of me I can't remember which country song it was! :-(

But it was basically the country song sung by a male artist....."think" Keith Urban......and Kelly's "Since you've been gone" merged together......his lyrics...her chorus?

    Anyone remember? Thanks!

  • Skins on Messenger 9.0 beta?

I downloaded the skins I wanted and unzipped them to the correct directory. I explored and I can see them in the C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Shared\Graphics folder...

But I still can't change the skin. I tried rebooting Messenger and that didn't help. There is no button under the Messenger menu that says "change skin" and there is also no button under the Messenger\Preferences\Appearance menu either.

    Any ideas?

  • Need help with a 4-port, dual-monitor KVM switch with USB connections?

I am looking to purchase a 4-port KVM switch that can handle dual video and has USB connectors for the keyboard/mouse.

I found one from IOGear (GCS1744) and I like this brand - it's the same one I have now. HOWEVER......I read online that it will not support my nVidia chipset on my motherboard. I also read that nForce4 was total unsupported ....

Any reccomendations out there for a KVM that will work with my chipset/video card and still allow me 4 ports, Dual monitors and usb connections??

    Thanks in advance!!

  • Looking for the nutritional value of boiled chicken...?

When I make chicken noodle soup, I always start with a whole fryer. I cut off any extra fat and boil it in a pot with enough water to cover it. Once done, I bone it, throwing away ALL of the skin/fat. So how many calories/fat is that? All of the calorie counters will show me stewed, but only with the skin.

(I have a fat seperator that I use on the broth to remove the fat from it before I add my carrots, celery and pasta)

I'v always considered this a fairly healthy recipe due to the fact that I do remove all of the skin and the fat from the broth. I think cooking the chicken with the skin in there gives it more flavor, but if I'm taking the fat off the top isn't that close to the same as removing it before I boiled it?
