Any Law students out there who might be able to help me with this one??

I know that in the state of texas, only one party needs to consent for a conversation to be recorded. If I was talking to someone and they wanted to record the conversation without my knowledge, they would be the consenting party for the recording. If such a conversation were taking place, is there anything I could say to legally block or reveal their recording? For example, If the other person was talking to me, and recording without my knowledge; would making a statement such as "This is a private conversation between the speaking parties. Any and all other parties and/or recording devises must be disclosed at this time," force them to legally reveal their recording? Could such a recording after a statement like that be admissible in court?

And more importantly, would such a situation only apply to electronic transmissions(phone, chat, etc.), or is there any precedence for verbal and written communication as well.(I.E. the other party makes a transcript of a conversation afterwards or during the conversation)?

2003 Ford Focus Centennial Edition(ztx) sedan, just under 60k miles

Front of car, passenger side makes a rattling/grinding noise(almost like plastic rubbing on the tire tread, but I have already checked this) when accelerating up to 40 mph, more so when making right turns, and sometimes when going over bumps.

Mechanic checked brakes(which were just replaced about 3 months ago...they're fine), replaced bearing in right wheel. no change to status. Mechanic looked over the car 3 days, before giving up and refunding a bunch of my money.

So it looks like I need to start checking it on my own. I checked online, and found these possible culprits:

Power steering issue

tie rod

CV joint and/or boot

sway bar end links

heat shield on rotor

Anything else anyone can recommend? Anyone have this problem before, and find a solution?

It has been pointed out to me that some components have also been torn off the underside of the vehicle. This may be part of the problem, or something completely unrelated. The missing component is the engine splash shield in the center, and a plastic box structure which sits just in front of the wheel-well, at the lowest point below the headlights area. There is also a hose which was, I assume, was attached to whatever was mounted on clips to the center of the bumper, and presumably was linked to some sort or air intake or cooling system? Anyone know what these components are called? I'd like to get them replaced, and I don't trust a mechanic to order them within a reasonable price structure.

My homeowners association has gone crazy imposing fines on the neighborhood for the slightest infraction or their rather vague rules and regulations. As they have not mowed or maintained the community park across the street from me, I am wondering if there is a way I can impose a fine against the homeowners association for failure to maintain the property we pay them to keep up?

For that matter, could I fine for other issues, such as unsolicited flyers on my doorstep(littering on private property)? Would there be a legal way of notifying them of the fine I impose on them, and then report them to a credit bureau, or something similar??

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to string together USB drives (using a cheap hub), so that they act as one drive. I found a deal on several 2gb drives, and I'm wondering if there's any way to link them all together into one mass partition. Thanks for any help.

For any of you who have seen this news from California, doesnt it seem a bit suspicious that Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata, whom has been pushing for gun control, got Carjacked in Oakland. He was stopped at an intersection in the middle of the afternoon, allegedly waiting for a red light.

A man tapped on the window with a gun, and he got out and let him take the Car. So two days later when the police recover the car, it hasn't been stripped. The 22" rims are still attached, Car is intact, and all his belongings...including the cell phone, are all still inside.

Legitimate carjacking? Or Media Publicity stunt to legitimize gun control?

I just moved here to texas from California, and it's very frustrating to me that everytime anyone here has even the slightest fender bender, they leave their car parked in the middle of the road, blocking up traffic, and creating a safety hazard for many more people.

Is it Texas law that you have to leave your vehicle in the middle of the road if you have an accident? I would think it more prudent to get it off the road into a parking lot where you can exchange information, and not have to worry about getting hit again....

I was diagnosed with a severe case of Dacryocystitis, which is an infected sac connected to your tear glands. I have been on antibiotics and in/out of the hospital for the last two weeks to get the swelling and pain manageable. My Opthometrist is sending me to a specialist on monday, and it's possible they may have to operate to remove any obstruction. Has anyone had this done? Is it painful? Do they put you under? Will it leave scarring? I'd really like to know the breakdown of any procedures they'll do on me. Thanks for ANY serious answers.

There was a short run television show, within the last five years or so, I think. I just remember the only scene I got to see was where a college bound son broke down on the side of the road. He calls his father for help, and when the dad shows up to help he happens to ask when the last time was he changed the oil.

The son replies, something like 'you dont need to worry about that dad...they do that at the factory'

dad: no, when did you get it changed last?

son: No, you dont understand dad...it's in the car...they put it in there at the factory...when they make the car.

My wife and I both have HP pavilion dv6000's. Recently, my wife's computer has had 'issues' reading and writing from the dvd+rewritable drive. I can burn disks from my system, that will read on other peoples computers...but not hers. I'm thinking that maybe the drive has gone belly-up, but the properties on the device show it working normally. It will actually read some cd's, but not others. Any ideas, or suggestions on where to look? Anyone had same problem? Thanks.

Last July, I had an accident on the freeway. Freeway traffic stopped, as did I, and I was struck by the driver behind me hard enough to stamp a toyota logo into my bumper, and push me a carlength into the next car in front.. I went to the hospital for back pain, and neck pain, followed by a doctor visit a month later. I have not been able to get back to a doctor since, due to my work schedule, and a job change.

Now, the insurance company of the rear driver wants to settle. They claim they are offering me the $1600 to cover lost work wage, hospital bills and copays, and like only 300 or 400 of it covers pain and suffering.

I personally dont think this is enough. I still have back pain to this day, lingering though it may be. Also, I had the car for only like a month before this happened, and am nowhere near paying it off. They didn't total it, and sent it to a AAA repair facility. I'm sure that if I traded it in, I'd be screwed on the trade-in or even sale of the car...

I saw a BBC documentary, which showed that our solar system rises and falls along the galactic plane, like the motion of a horse on a merry go round. So what is that cyclic motion 'tethered' to? Is our Solar system orbiting a black hole? A Brown Dwarf maybe(like Nemesis?) Is there a common accepted answer to this in the scientific community?

I just got this new laptop. It's an Hp Pavillion dv6000 with vista. It has a built in webcam. This system came with little to no instructions. I have found out that you can access the webcam with the quickplay button or through windows live messenger, but it doesnt work all the time. I was able to use it this morning, but not now. It seems like it only works at random with either program. Any ideas?

I just got a new HP Pavillion dv6000 with windows vista. It has a built in webcam, but I dont see any software on the computer for it. The new Vista installed HP systems dont come with disks. Is there a driver or a program that I need to download?

I have tried to use the webcam with Yahoo IM, but it doesn't recognize the camera.

I got a parking ticket back in November in Walnut Creek California. I put 2 quarters into the meter for an hour's time, and when I came back at 5 to the hour, I had a ticket that had been written 2 minutes earlier.

I immediately filed an appeal at the police department, but I just today recieved a statement in which the reviewer upheld the citation.

I still have the option to fight this by either personal appearance, or another written request. Is it worth it? Should I appear, or send in more paperwork? What can I do or say to prove my innocence in the matter?

It's only a $25 ticket, but it's more about the principle of the matter. I'm really upset that the city can get away with ***-raping law abiding citizens by pilfering their hard earned dollars,( no matter how little), and getting away with it so dismissively.(after a month of waiting to hear back, I called and they told me they would address my citation quote "when we get around to it"

I saw a documentary a few years back that mentioned a plan for an array of orbital radio telescopes that would function in unison; and kept in sync with lasers. I think it said it was supposed to be implemented around 2014. Does anyone have any info on this?

My Fiancee and I are planning our wedding, and we are contemplating whether or not to serve a meal, or if we should have cake and punch with a few hors'douvres. The wedding and reception would be in the afternoon between 1 and 4. Would it be "tacky" to slim down the food offerings because it will be after 'lunchtime' but before 'dinner'; or do we owe our guests a full meal? What would you expect when attending a wedding?

If a black hole is a singularity that pulls in all other matter close enought to get caught in it's gravity, will black holes eventually swallow all matter in the universe and compress into one "master" singularity?
